lol... Sweetheart, that wasn't done for aesthetics or extra parking. That's so when a hurricane comes through, the house won't be submerged under a 6 foot deep storm surge.
the architect said on the full episode it was done because of rising sea levels.

At least it's not a boring brick box, like almost every house built on a building site in the UK. Stilts also good if that is an area that floods. My personal preferance is an old stone house, with the stone exposed and original tile floor.
itsasin1969 Yep, sanded down wooden floor upstairs. Oh, and a reclaimed wooden kitchen with range and Belfast sink. Dark wooden exposed beams.
As I said, dream house. Nothing like the actual council house I'm currently in! Indentical to a million other houses.

$30 million is to much for that home. Over priced!
All Miami houses are expensive. A single family house can easily be over a million. So a large modern/contemporary house like this, especially when it's so close to the beach, is going to be over 20 or 30 millio, no doubt.
I read it costed 6 million to construct, so depending on the cost of the land, which is probably way less than the construction cost, it most likely costs much less if you did what this owner did - buy the land and hire an architect.
It cost that much because of where it's located, not because of the construction costs.

This is my personal humble opinion and no mean to offend anybody. I think that the house is Claustrophobic is like a giant expensive prison, I felt depressed from the right moment to get into the garage space.
