Thanks for watching Killer Sounds! We'll have one more video with Mick Gordon as he walks through several of his tracks from seasons 1 and 2 on June 21st. In the meantime, what's your favorite track from any of the KI games and can you guess what's in Fulgore's chest?
fulgore's theme in the last ki, guilty gear bgms aside, it must be the most metal song in fighting game history, it's fucking great, now the -hype- beam sound...it's either a voice, or maybe the sound of a glass resonance possibly with a liquid inside it
The DMCV guys directly told Casey Edwards they wanted a KI-like soundtrack? That is mind-blowing. This game is a lot more special and groundbreaking than I think we realize sometimes
So there was a dude I ran into at several tournaments named Blindgamer that was a kickass Omen player. As the name suggests,, he worked solely off the sound and he could still kick my ass. That's how good the audio was in this game. I remember at one of the Absolute Battles there was a set between Blindgamer and Kevbones (a deaf player and awesome Arbiter who barely missed out on KIWC) that was amazing to watch. KI 2013 is something I don't think will be replicated, even by a sequel, and will forever be my favorite fighting game of all time.
@@clashmanthethird It wasn't on stream. It was a casual after the bracket. I wasn't able to find the LCQs for KIWC just with a quick google, but Kevbones barely lost out to Chaidez IIRC.
Nothing quite like walking into the mall early on a weekend as a kid. Hitting the roll up gate at the Tilt before they opened for the day and hearing KI blaring over everything other machine. I remember so vividly the sound of the machines buzzing as they warmed up and initiated and hearing the beautiful theme begin and that voice proclaiming the game would be "Available for your home in 1995 only on Nintendo 64". Such a warm, beautiful memory. I love this game, I'd go as far as saying it's a part of the fabric of my life.
As a voice acting nerd, I wouldn't mind seeing a video on the voice over stuff in KI. Like how an arachnophobe learned phrases in Thai to play a spider-lady.
I'm gonna say it. I was definitely one of many voices who said they weren't as happy without Mick Gordon's input on the latter seasons but hearing Celldweller and Atlas Plug's input on their part in creating the music working alongside their own projects I can more fully appreciate their efforts.
I love that Mick sees Cinder’s original theme as perfect and felt that all he needed to do was pull it into modern day. Loved the doc, thank you so much for covering this, KI has such amazing sound design and music.
I remember first listening to Devil Trigger and screaming "YO IS THAT ALI FROM KILLER INSTINCT? LET'S GOOOOOOO!" Truly this game was amazing and facilitated SO much more amazing things in turn!
Mick: If I was doing this today, we could do amazing things! Me: I'd like that. Killer Instinct has my favorite soundtrack, only followed by Devil May Cry 5 and Metal Gear Rising. I wish we could get a new Killer Instinct with new themes for characters and stages. The currect ones wouldn't even need to go, they could an alternative option. #BringBackKI
I feel like people really undervalued what Celldweller and Atlus brought to the table in favour of gushing about Mick, they really held up the standard of KI's OST and deserve more love. And more people need to hear Celldweller's music anyway.
Robin Beanland and Graeme Norgate are absolute Gods! They both brought us some of best game soundtracks of the 90's! Banjo-Kazooie, Goldeneye 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and most importantly, Killer Instinct!
Major props for giving the time for the sound group to shine. I agree with Mike that music/sound should be appreciated and not left as backdrop like elevator music. KI is trully one of the best fighting games of the new millenium. Hopefully this lighting in a bottle can happen again for a possible KI2. Great doc
They have yet to explain why, when Arbiter was added to the game, his stage music wasn't just people on xbl yelling at each other over the Halo theme, but I guess I have to respect the amazing level of detail and attention that went into every aesthetic element of the game besides that!
Honestly this is phenomenal. Definitely the best thing I've watched all week. I know I'm late to the comment party but thank you all for the time and effort put into this masterpiece!
The Original KI OST is the best fighting game soundtrack on this planet - so melodic and it nails every character 100%! Every track is a gem! Tank you so much for your work! I was one of those lucky kids whos parents bought SNes with KI in it and killer cuts cd! I loved this CD so much! And I am still loving this music today after 25 years!

Dynamic and interactive music is SOOOOOO underrepresented in the fighter genre. Especially when it comes to music. As far as I know, the only two fighting games that received such passionate attention to the dynamism of music are Killer Instinct and Them's Fightin' Herds. I really hope these games inspire future fighting game devs to rise up to the same level of audio quality because as it stands now, KI and TFH audio and musically are truly ahead of their time. The sound is what sold me on KI, and I imagine it has for others as well. The labor of love from the audio guys really shows, and I speak from the heart when I say it makes this game something special.
I remember when I was playing KI as a kid from the Snes, I was paying attention to the fight than the music until I kept playing it more and as years go by I appreciated the music through all of the levels because it made my heart race and it helped build up the fight. I really love KI for all of its glory and the music is one part of why I love this series.

Two guesses for Fulgore's HYPE Beam: 1 - As others suggested, metal legs on a chair being dragged across a floor was my initial thought. However I'm not sure you can get a consistent shrilling noise from just that. Just the right amount of pressure on a floor without abrupt changes in movement would be required. 2 - A hand-held vacuum cleaner, its vacuum tube pressed onto a surface so as to force the vac to work harder. The apex of the vacuum's pitch is what's recorded. I think this one makes more sense; cleaner, practically no variation, and even comes from an actual machine.
@@Holdbacktoblock If that's the case, I'll have to check out your other stuff, for late-night watching; my housemate yells at me if there's noise while she's trying to sleep, and I hate wearing headphones, so I like having stuff available where I don't need the sound on. (Or also if there's a lot of background noise going on over on my end, so I can tell what's being said without having to rewind it like twenty times.)

Awesome Documentary i love KI soundtrack. Good work!
Absolutely outstanding. 👍🏻
My first thought for Fulgore was a train, but I think I'll go with a vacuum cleaner
O_O ..... ok ......but what kind of train?
@@jean-edouardmiclot1374 Hmm... I'm not super familiar with trains, but it sounds like a noise you'd get in a subway or maybe the braking of a bullet train?
Reading around the comments, a steam engine seems the right direction
KI music gives me the chills!!
These epic sounds play in my house as loud as they did in arcades, from my arcade ;)
Fulgors chest beam sounds like a metal bat ringing out.
Def saving this for later! Thanks!
The devastation beam is a chair being dragge. Metal is involved in the dragging.
Already mentioned in another comment above but it's unfortunately not the right answer. You're right on one thing though, there's a lot of metal!
I really like the original jago theme, it's awesome! I can understand why it wasn't used, since it wouldn't fit the feel they were trying to go for, but it's not at all a bad piece of music!
Still have my SNES black cartridge and Killer Cuts CD which was my first ever CD that I had as far as owning one.
#BringBackKI indeed!
