I have a 03 impala ls. It has the 3.8l v6. It's a fantastic car. Mine does have the tec as it's the 3.8l. It's very reliable and I would suggest it as a first car or just a cheap commuter car. It gets around 23 mpg even with the 3.8l engine and I like to floor it too not going to lie. great car over all. I've had it for a year and I love it.
@@Bobby-cm7vu it's amazing as a first car. It's slow enough for a 18 year old like me but I drive like an asshole. Parts are cheap, always starts up no matter what. I just passed 100k miles and things are still great. I've been doing a lot of aggressive driving and speed runs lately and it's running strong. Great gas mileage, always 200-275 miles or more only on 12 gals with 4-5 gals left reserve but depends on your driving style. I had to replace the EVAP lines because the cars frame is completely rusted but nothing a $7 rubber hose can't fix to pass inspection. Great amount of space. But it isn't for me anymore. It's just too big, heavy, and slow. Not saying it's a terrible car. Me and my impala have basically gone thru hell together and it's just a beast of a car. Just do regular maintenance like oil and fluid changes and a tune up like spark plugs and wires. And your car will last forever. Just the rust issue is a bit of a problem but I'm trying to get a CTS4 next. I'd love to keep the impala as like a work van because the amount of space it has is amazing. But sadly, I can't have 2 cars because insurance would kill me.
@@OffTrap awesome, thanks for explaining for me, I was hesitant to get a car due to lack of room but if it's as roomy as I've heard from you and others then I'll probably get one.
@@Bobby-cm7vu but I heard a lot of issue with the transmission going out at around 140-160k but its a good first car if you find one under 100k miles. But im getting rid of it mostly because the amount of space I have never gets used and I want more luxury features in a car and I take on off ramps at 40-45mph. 50-55mph if I wanna make the tires squeal. I just like driving fast so I need a car that handles better. The body is roll is insane but not bad if you can handle it. Very soft suspension but because it's soft. It's a interesting experience when driving because you feel like you're on a cloud.
I bought my first car last year in April...03 Chevy Impala....I miss her so much she did me good while I had her.....I always said as a child that I wanted my first car to be a Chevy since I'm a BIG CHEVY FANATIC! And I got my wish..... Ayesha, I MISS YOU BABY! 😭😭😭😭😔🤍
I literally got one 2 weeks ago best decision i made . My temp sensor bad but it got me 2 perris ca qnd back with out no problem! Very reliable its a head turner nd its starting to be come a classic like the older one. Feels good to be part of the chevy family. I love my 3.8
I have this car. If the temp. guage NEVER goes past half way the engine & radiator fans are doing ok. Learn where fuel & starter relays are located, same part numbers can be swapped to test. MAF sensor & Throddle body spray cleaned every 6 mos. Change full synthetic engine oil & better oil filter every 6 mo. Change specific transmission pan fluid & filter every 2 years. Change water/coolant every 2 years. P.S. Don't change the transmission when the problem is ONE BAD COIL SITTING on top of the motor. Hope helps.
Thanks for the review buddy, defiantly a source of good information since I am currently in the market and a 2003 impala has basically fallen in my lap
I use to have a blue on blue 2003 Impala with same engine. He is right about the transmission. However, I still want another one. Mine had the traction control and it worked really well. It had the Chevrolet wheel covers like that. But tires were still good size and looked good to me. What he said about it driving well is right on. It rode really nice and handled quite good. Next year I'll be looking for another Superior Blue one again.
The transmissions are junk by 70,000 miles. Even with fluid and filter changes every 25,000 miles they still fail. The clutch inside the transmission fails, and you do not move. There is a whining noise and grabbing feeling when they go. The rack and pinion also leaks fluid and is only good for 20,000 miles or 3 years. After that you go through power steering fluid.
This engine is notorious for Intake manifold gasket failure. If you deal with that this is a great engine. More fuel efficient and just as powerful as the infamous 3800
I have seen a 2003 Chevrolet Impala 3.4 V6 SFI advertised for $3,995. It has $97,000 mi on it. Is that a good deal? What should I look out for? Thank you for the good video bro. Keep up the good work. Kudos
I have a 3400 in my impala, they are a tad lackluster and seem to be unpredictable when it comes to the coolant system. I would recommend the 3800 instead
My grandma had a purple 2003 impala and it was in great condition until she passed away and it was passed down to my aunt and it's now a peice of garbage that's probably in a scrap yard now
I love the front split bench seating!

I'm looking at an 2003 with 50000 miles. how do the trannys hold up??? Any major trouble? how many miles do you have on yours? Thanks!
Picked up a 2005 Impala 3.8 LS about 3 and a half months ago, love it so far!
Same, but the base model 3.4. Man, the car is a tank. I love it. Best first car.
@@OffTrap if you don't mind me asking, how is it doing if you still have it? I'm planning on getting one with the 3400 as a first car.

The 3.8 is the ideal engine in these. The 3.4 isn’t bad but the 3.8 is dang near bullet proof
I like these for winter beaters. Don't get one in nice condition for that though, they're good cars and deserve better while they have life in them.
ur very handsome. i’m hoping to get this car soon, love ur review style
Just bought an 04 3.8l V6. LOVE it! Have you had the 'actuator' issue yet?

It was my first car and I love it!
get a dodge charger
@@caloFi wow, man! That's an amazing idea, I can totally pull thousands of dollars out of my ass on command.
@Simpleton Life 😂Well, I don't know man. The aventador is less expensive in my opinion, so I will definitely look into that option instead.
Yes. I recently got one 3 months ago. I love it to death. Just don't floor it too much. Even tho I do 🤣
About to buy one off my homie
Really easy to get to until you have to get to the coolant thermostat lol
Yup, that had me throwing around a few cuss words. It's not the worst thing in the world to change but definitely not the easiest either.
great video thank you so much :)
My first gear slips some times
Does this car have power outlets at all?
Yes they do you pull out a slot under the radio and ac dials it has 2 cigarette lighter plug ins
Beater but safe. #WatchYourSpeed
i just bought an 04 for $500
170k miles
