That's a trip,I see a huge difference when I go 50mbs and even.I started flying in 720p and tried 1080p and flew around my block with no issues.Out of all the flights, only one time did I get a slight stutter. Not sure how well walksnail antennas are but I bought the truerc singularity clear stubby and patchs and my video is super clear with no issues.I actually went around the block where my analog can't go because of all the trees and house and I can see perfect no issue with my fatshark dominator goggles.I am super impressed with them.Great review bro.
Gotcha, I was definitely not having a smooth flight with 50, and things felt so much better with 25. I'll have to get some better antennae. As for the performance, I'm kind of subtly comparing it to DJI, but that's because I'm coming directly from DJI and flown all these spots with DJI first.
Awesome review Ed. Thx buddy
Mikey
I'm on analog. The walksnail gear is starting to look real appealing. It has improved a lot since when I last checked in on it during the release last year.
Great review
Thanks
My biggest issue with the Walksnail goggles is the size of the lenses. I actually removed the faceplate and put velcro directly on the goggles themself to attach stock foam to so I could get my eyes closer. I love the weight of them vs HDZero goggles which I find myself looking down with because of all the weight they put on my nose.
Nice honest review, I appreciate that 👊🧐👌
Thanks, still need to do more testing. T1 Ranger install soon
@@EdRickerVlogs I would like to test it some more as well. Definitely interested to see how the future works out in the system 👊
My finger is hovering over the buy button for some X-Air MKII and Stubby antenna set for the system. Heard of anything better? If antennae are limiting the system, I'm willing to spend a lil.
@@EdRickerVlogs all the information I’ve heard is the stock antennas don’t perform well. Truerc makes good antennas so they should perform better.
Nice job! Absolutely loving mine, cannot wait to stretch its legs on the Mini Drak!
I'll be putting it in the HeeWing T1 Ranger 👍
i would like to see a follow up with different antenna to see if that fixed some of your issues
And with the new firmware out and share mode now released, time for you to do another video! 😜
Hehe yes I saw that. My only problem is I don't know anyone else nearby who has Walksnail too! Maybe I can link up with somebody.
I’m just moving from analog. I want the best latency and penetration. Freestyle and not very long range and I think the 720p is still pretty good for non-commercial use.
DJI 03 then. Why screw around with inferior tech. If latency is your main issue then stay on 80’s VHS….I mean analog. If you feel a few MS of latency then digital isn’t for you. Then there’s hd zero (which I own and never use) because it’s basically analog 2.0
@@Goldtech6973the o3 has about 5 Times the latency of walksnail. You will definetly feel IT
Gotta try out the trueRC stubby and patches on the goggles and the trueRC core 5.8 85mm antennas on the vtx. Never have any stuttering or increased latency and the range is impressive.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I got the Recon HD goggles and using them feels like I'm in the back of a movie theatre. The screen feels like it's about 6 inches away from my eyes. What is the experience with the Avatar goggles? How much would it feel like I am more to the front of the movie theatre if any?
Great review! I am gonna purchaise these goggles to acompany my goggles 2, which are not useful for small whops. By the way, when can I get this prety pixel strap which you have attached to your goggles?
Nice
Really good review, try it at 700mw there are some issues with 1200mw I use high frame rate at 25mbs
Thanks for the tip. We did 700mW the first night and then bumped it up to 1200 for the rest of the footage. I don't think 1200mw was any worse than 700mW, though maybe 700mW 50Mbps would act better than 1200mW 50Mbps. Worth a try.
Hi Mate, awesome review, many thanks for it 👍 Are you going to update it with your thoughts related to the latest firmware? They say that "high bitrate" has been updated, which might mean some benefits in 50m if I am not mistaken.
Hi Daniel, Sorry for not replying sooner, but we recently did a test with the latest firmware and the high bitrate stuttering has not been fixed. We're still flying at normal bitrate because of that.
@@EdRickerVlogs no problem, thanks for reply. I have already ordered WS HD Pro, can you please advise the best antena setup which in your opinion is worth the money? I am wondering about some TrueRC, but I do not know which setup will give me the best penetration for bando. Is there any sense to buy this double x-air or single will be enough? Do I need stubby as well?
Yes how about 7 month after the video now, the are a big update from caddx?
Even if you use the Avatar VTX with your analog goggles for this VTX it's worth the switch from analog.
Nice! Do you notice any added latency from the VRX?
@@EdRickerVlogs Not that I noticed. No.
Wish the black goggles were priced the same as the white ones. Would buy it rn
The white ones sold separately are usually missing antennas. Probably a similar price if you buy your own antennas with them.
@@EdRickerVlogs yeah unfortuanlly i wish they didnt do that. Well pyrodrone has it on sale for 560 and im heavily considering them. My wallet will be upset though hah
Yes how about 7 month after the video now, the are a big update from caddx?
👏👏👍👍👍
Proper antennas would probably solve a lot of your issues. That's probably the reason the fatshark version comes with none
Good idea!
I wanna go HD. I’m wondering how the Avatar VTX compares to the Avatar Googles.
Shelby Voll uses the Avatar VRX on his Fatsharks and seems to enjoy them. I've never tried them personally.
@@EdRickerVlogs so, I snagged a Walksnail Avatar HD Goggles W/ Upgraded Antenna, Facepad, Strap…I’m excited. Any advice for when they arrive? 🎉
Can someone please tell me if there’s interference when using crossfire and walksnail avatar HD System??
No there isn't, those are very different transmission frequencies.
Set your quad down there and plg it in and walk up closer to the building base and take off and fly towards yourself and pass yourself and you will get better reception and the same video . Or walk around or have a friend roll you around to the other side of the building in a wheel chair or wheel barrow .. and get amazing long range " how'd you do that " video .
I mean yeah, you can get creative if that's your thing
is walksnail goggles x newer?
Yes this is technically an older model.
I'm not into video photography , so this footage is not what i would be see in the goggles?
Whenever it says Goggle DVR on the lower left of the video, it's video recorded directly from the goggles. So yes it's what you'd see in your goggles
Penetration thru vegetation, yo!
hey dude i though caddx was 100fps
Caddx Vista Pro? Yes 120fps.
screen refresh rate 100hz but 120 fps
@@r0bfpv yes correct, 120fps but 100hz. Even though the goggles only display 100hz or realistically 100fps, there are still some benefits to having an fps higher than display refresh rate. Check this article out: blurbusters.com/faq/benefits-of-frame-rate-above-refresh-rate/
@@r0bfpv thanks for cllearing that up buddy thanks eh
I really don't wat the quality looks bad
DJI 03 and forget it. Who cares about a few MS of latency when you can punch through entire school building with clarity.
DJI O3 is good in many situations, but it's really poor in low light. Walksnail Avatar V2 is very very good in low light.
