I play brigitta in this team and to be fair enough all of the teams were good in different ways! My friend Ellie played brigitta in another team and we were never against each other we are all like family!! x
I absolutley love her! I was in Billy Elliott when she was in Mary Poppins and her sister was my chaperone. I was saying how I'd love to meet her, and she came all the way to the Billy Elliott theatre just to see me! It was so sweet of her :P I'd love to thank her again :)
I saw the production a couple of weeks ago and I have to say that I think the girl that played Liesl, Amy Lennox, outshone Summer Strallen. As did the women who played the Mother Superior. She received the loudest cheer during the finale and rightly so - her rendition of "Climb Every Mountain" took your breath away. I'll assume Summer was having an "off day" as the main character should never be overshadowed by those in supporting roles. But she most definitely was!
I've seen the cast from this clip twice: Friedrick-David Calvert,Louisa-Amber Pursey, Brigitta-Hannah Lowther,Kurt-Richard Linnell, Marta-Abigail Sayell and Gretl-Millie White
When i was in England i saw this exact group of kids. The Sound of Music was at The Princess of Wales theater in Toronto and i saw it there a bunch of times too.
Forgot to mention: the little girl that played Brigitta was outstanding also. All the kids were great. And yes oatsandsparkles, Summer is allowed an off night. I should imagine that 8 performances a week is exhausting. I'm knackered in a show after 3 nights! But I can only comment on what I saw.
So far I've seen it three times (Opening Night 26th Feb, 18th March and 1st April) but one week I went down to see Summer on a tv show instead. I'm down again next Tuesday and then again at the end of April hee. What about you?? x
This is such an amazing musical! So much so that during the Nazi concert towards the end, I actually felt a little scared...almost like I was there. Absolutely amazing.
which Brigitta did you have? Hannah who plays Brigitta in this video? All the groups of kids are all amazing, these are my favourite group singing wise. They all have their stregnths and weakensses though. Summer only does six shows a week ;) But she's been working non stop recently, she went straight from Hollyoaks into SoM without anytime to breathe so I think that's a major factor. Hopefully after her holiday this week, she'll come back feeling refreshed
It sometimes happens. The whole cast are very strong, especially Amy Lennox who plays Liesl. I think with Summer, it's not her voice that makes the part, it's everything she brings to the part of Maria. Maybe she was having an off night, which she is entitled to.
Why do you Connie fans always have to compare? If you're going to be like that then fine, no, Summer isn't Connie. You know what she brings to Maria? She makes her human, funny and loveable. There is no doubt that Connie has an amazing voice but in the acting stakes? Summer is most definitely 100% better. She must be doing something right for them to extend her contact =) and the people's Maria? I agree but Summer is MY Maria so that's all that matters.

yes, a lot. and my friends sister worked with her for six months as gretyl. I got to know her over that time and she's the most lovely person!

I've seen these kids too. They were amazing although I slightly prefered the set we seen last time and on opening night.
Summer is fantastic!! I agree parts did seemed a little more forced as Maria, but theatre is hard and that is a tough role, I think she was brilliant!
