Thank you for this. I had several different videos showing top 10 or top 20. This is the ONLY video I need to know all the shortcuts that I will ever use. Good Job
this is the most comprehensive guide I've found, helped me fill in so many gaps and make new discoveries thank you! for those learning I'd highly recommend a dedicated protools keyboard to get started, and for the middle click for the tools, there are various apps you can add to your system that let you add a middle click to a magic mouse on a mac. I'l be watching this on repeat for quite a while xD
Good stuff - I’m a trackball guy but also perform and learning these key commands allows me to control a vocal session from a wireless keyboard especially the / bar number - thank you very informative ,
Awesome tutorial dude!! thanks so much!!! Do you know if there is a shortcut for the Playback Engine Menu (PC) or a way to create shortcuts in Windows. Thanks again!!
I’m recording at 128samples through Addictive Drums on a Instrument Track using a committed guitar and the click as a reference. (Everything else disable). To listen previous takes I have to turn it up but then if any mistake needs to be fixed it has to be done right away through a new take (smaller buffer size)
at this point that you explaining the shortcut windows+ left click & drag, I realize that my windows key doesn't work in pro tools, and of course I tested my windows key and it was working well out of the DAW. I also tried to active automation mode by the shortcuts but that work the same as well this. What can you suggest me?
awesome tutorial. Ctrl = does not working for me to switch between edit and mix windows. Instead it works ctrl+(+ key). Ive tried to turn to US language in windows 7 but nothing changed. do you know a fix? Thanks and subbed
Hey pacman lp, my Win 10 based PC keyboard has the "Plus" symbol directly above "Equals" on the same key. I think what you'll find is that the shortcut "Control" plus "Plus" is exactly the same as "Control" plus "Equals" because they are on the same key, so perhaps your keyboard doesn't show it? At any rate, as long as you have a shortcut that you can remember and it works, your workflow is always more efficient. Thanks for subbing! More content to come :-) Happy mixing!
If you have a compatible iPad, you may be able to set up Macros for this using the Eucon Control program, otherwise, your best bet is to bring up the Time Operations window using Alt+1.
This is the best tutorial on pro tools' short cut keys so far. Blessup

Those keyboard visuals (the actual keyboard graphics with the shortcuts highlighted) are REALLY useful, it makes it easier to memorize. Thanks!!!
Yes! When you see it, your brain remembers the pattern more than it remembers the letters. Glad you found it useful, it took so long to make!

The "Esc" key toggles the tool types. Keep pressing "Esc" to get back to the smart tool (multi-function).
cmd+H to heal breaks is pretty huge.
