- Back in June 2022, Lufthansa Technik formally handed over its first of two converted Airbus A321LR to the German government after seven months of modifications. The second narrowbody was then delivered in late August.
The new planes are set to play several roles across Germany's armed forces, from carrying troops across the Atlantic, to medical evacuation flights.

The “e” at the end of Luftwaffe is short, but not silent.
that's german , tough for other tongues.
@@pratiktandel5706 prøv dansk engang. Udtalen er noget andet.
Correct.
Not to mention legions of movies and documentaries where the correct pronunciation is used.
at least, they pronounced the w correctly. Many others do not.
@@Flexflex744 How would you mispronounce the W? German asking btw
Looks like the Swiss Army knife for the German Luftwaffe. One blade does medevac, one blade does troop transport and another blade opens beer bottles.
That inspection at 1:39 😂
"Yes, the curtains are squishy enough for military service, Sir!"
@@scientificconsideration8294 the curtains were holding back overhead bin
At least they got it right.
i also love the livery of the german airforce on the a321neo's!
😬 flashbacks
Seriously? 15 Plus 10 and 15 plus 11. The 'plus' is the Luftwaffe's insignia.
No plus, its the Iron Cross.
@@carstenr.2035 did you listen to the audio?
The plus is the iron cross and the official insignia of the Bundeswehr but also part of the tactical codes of the planes. Two numbers left and two to the right of it.
That aircraft looks so cool. Better than the RAF A321NEOs I'd say.
Does the Royal Air Force operate any A321 NEOs? I rather think not……
@@kevinbutters5964think they’re talking about the uk government a321s.
love the 3+2 seating layout
Looks much more confortable than Lufthansa’s 321N 😊
Und was hat Lufthansa mit Luftwaffe zu tun? Richtig nix.
Great video, spectacular aircraft!
"Military Business Class" - now that's class! Super awesome sexy bird.
Isn't that just normal domestic business class in the US? 😂 😂
The 3-2 premium economy class seats are interesting though.
A passenger/cargo configurable cabin, and a light modular command and control capability would be cool.
Those two planes are so amazing!
great video!
The A321XLR will make an excellent military aircraft.
that is gorgeous. Cheers to Luftwaffe...
I didn't found one, but a military playlist would be awesome!!!
While I live near their home base, I haven't seen them yet (at least in action, they tend to park on the apron tho)
I think these have been flying across the Atlantic recently. I swear I’ve tracked one or two over the east coast.
Awesome👍
Great mods, bringing military to leisure business.
RNZAF could replace their aging B757 combi’s with something like this.
Should
I would say the interior looks a little like the 330 mrtt no?
What was wrong with the 330 MRTT ??
nice vid!
beautiful livery!!
This aircraft would be a good replacement for the RNZAF Boeing 757
LOL wo ist das plus? Die Maschinen heißen 1510 und 1511, das ist kein +, das ist das eiserne Kreuz.
Genau!
Also in Luftfahrzeugkennungen
love seat 2+3=5 per row
No I haven’t seen them
Spotted 15+10 flying into IAD last week.
Lie-flat beds!
00:01:02
yeah the German foreign minster came to India for G20 meeting on this plane
Airlines across the globe are desperately trying to get their orders for this aircraft fulfilled.
Military business class
Yeah I heard that too.
Together with the 3 new A350 the German Government has the most modern official fleet in Europe.
Good useful plane for the military but do not like the big plush seats for "special dignitaries" or fat bureaucrats.
Seems like a fancy transport for the famously no-longer expeditionary German military!
Well, the have duties abroad. In Africa for instance. And it might also become more again in the future :) They just need to have this ability
Joint Missions you not only have high profile Missions like Mali or Afghanistan.
In addition you do have regular routes to the US and back for Joint Airforce Basic and Advanced Training.
In addition this airplane does transports for government ministers or medevac in future
Is German Air Force exist..!?
Yes......
My Country is Germany xD
Sounds like a lot of public justifications for an upscale jet to haul high ranking military and their families. I say this but do love the multiple use aspects of a very large investment.
No families allowed usually, and these are not dedicated VIP aircraft but focus rather on the other transportation roles. For VIP transport the German military has quite a few dedicated Aircraft for that role. Three A350, 4 A320 family aircraft, 6 Bombardier Global and 3 AS532 Helicopter, currently still 2 A340 but those will be phased out once the A350s are all operational.
Maybe they should focus on fighting a adversary
You don't want peace on this planet?
@@gerhardma4687 I do not.
@@randygravel2057 What's wrong with you? There is a place where you can join a war. So go and fight for the Ukraine
@@gerhardma4687 Got back two weeks ago
Do u have any war stories to share ?
Strange seeing a modern plane with "Luftwaffe" on the livery.
No, not really.
Well that’s literally just the German word for „Air Force“
Nothing special about it.
The US Air Force for example is called „US Luftwaffe“ in german.
Ok Germany got a military transport. Now all they need is a military to transport.
well, there is over 180.000 troops
if you compare it to us military by population it is roughly half the size of the united states armed forces
And considering that unlike they we don't put our nose everywhere it doesn't belong, it is large enough for the intended purpose ;)
@@audiocrushThat might be true, but the german military is absolutely desolate because all the budget gets sucked up by corrupt government officials, politicians and business. Some experts say, if we were to get attacked by a certain rampaging dictator, we'd probably run out of ammunition after 2-3 days...plus the fact that none of our tanks work...so I'd say we are completely defenseless right now, and a few sleek business jets won't change anything about it.
@@torgejh9189 That may well be true but the initial question was another one.
I partially agree to your statements, but just tossing more money and more personell at the problem will not solve any of those. The inefficiencies in that system already start at the top positions in government where everything is done and paid for at least as many times as there are parties in the parliament with way to many people wanting to take part in decisions they are not even remotely qualified for regarding their original profession they actually might know something about.
@@audiocrushOh yes, agree with you, that's a whole other can of worms you opened there. But I never said we need more money for defense, the money just actually needs to reach the troops instead of just being tossed around and wasted in the offices.
Half of the Eurofighters don't fly, the Puma infantry fighting vehicles are broken, there are no ammunition reserves, there is a shortage of tanks, Germany is not able to meet its NATO obligations... But they have a beautiful new Airbus. What will they do with it? lease to CONDOR for the holiday season for flights to Mallorca and Tenerife?
so just like any other NATO military except the USA... Why do people always act like Germany is the big exception in terms of military readiness? They're the norm in the NATO, not the exception
@@MrSchwabentier Because France and Great Britain at least have nuclear weapons, so their word has weight in the world, and because Germany's economic power also determines Germany's certain geopolitical weight, which must also include components that enable respect for Germany's soft power. A force that adds weight to the words of Germany in the world. Money (trading) is not enough. Your entire reasoning in Germany since the end of the Cold War has been and is apparently flawed in this regard. Which, according to everything, did not actually end, it just entered the next phase, which ended in 2014 and the annexation of Crimea. Then why did you continue to build your gas pipelines? why and where did Russian money flow to Germany? who all profited from them? For example, my country has always protested against your gas pipelines to Russia, claiming that it is a security risk. However, you ignored all the warnings of your allies.
@@tomasbugar4934 I am totally on your side regarding the gas pipelines and the general approach towards Russia until last year. It is the biggest disaster in german foreign policy of the last decades. It is nothing that i endorse or ever have endorsed. I am against it now, and I was against it 10 years ago.
To the nuclear weapons: They are useless in an actual conflict, and with conventional forces France and UK aren't any better equipped than Germany. That was my point.
Converting civilian aeroplanes to military use would be the worst idea ever! Doing so would significantly amplify the likelihood of a similar civilian model being misidentified and consequently fired upon during the time of active armed conflicts.
Why?
New Merkel Migration transport of new Doctors and Engineers
The Fokker F130 NG is a superior aircraft in every possible way due to the built in nuclear reactor it can fly for years without landing like the Fokkers in World War 1.
And what is this inappropriate comment supposed to tell us? That a nuclear reactor in an airplane is a clever idea? Did you just want to get rid of some knowledge? But it does not fit here at all
So how many planes of that type did they build?
Would you like to have 6 nuclear Engineers per airplane to cover controll and maintance.
