@@primeddefender Great video. I have a couple of TP9SFX and tried one of the rival last month, very nice and the trigger felt a bit better than TP9SFX. One thing is many handguns nowadays use term of co-witness I believe is more of a marketing gimmick. I have several other pistol the only one close to than is Tisas px9 gen3 which the red dot sits right in the cut without a plate underneath. Even with that the stock sights are still a bit low compared to the dot to be "co-witness". I see from the video your rear sights is completed blocked by the holosun, do you plan to change front and rear sight to be the tall sight?
@@dukenukem9666 Thank you! This darkside addition comes with a plate to be able to co-witness but you need certain red dots to be able to do it. Canik just came out with a red dot called the Mecanik that would go well with it but I just love my Holosuns. May try it soon though. I honestly like the irons sitting lower in my optic as it doesn't crowd up the window but that's just my personal preference. This being a more competition style pistol for me I'm not as worried about rear sights as I would be with with my home defence gun witch I do have co-witness with
Great video and scenery is nice. Glock fan until the Rival showed up. Been shooting IDPA for years but December match was Rival time very impressed with pistol especially the trigger. Even the Timney is not as smooth. Holster ok since I loosened trigger screw and stopped binding on drawing. Can’t find good holster. Get by with Talon grip not bad stays on. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching! And I agree the trigger is amazing on this gun. I was sceptical of canik until I started shooting one. I was always a smith or sig boy but canik is now my go to
Also forgot to mention if you put an extra retention screw and change the belt attachment it works really well and quits binding at all. I put it on a blade tech duty drop attachment and cut out a piece of quarter inch aluminum that I used for a spacer in between the belt attachment and the holster. You can crank the retention down and make it super tight but it still draws really good. I can do a video if you'd like?
Bro amazing video 📹 and content just subscribed and looking for more I have the canik tp9sf and just added a light and laser green one want to add red dot optics but not cut for one
I can say this is a very phenomenal gun. It fact it was so phenomenal I had a long adjustment period with because compare to my gun the trigger was so sensitive I accidentally had a couple double shots because of how short the reset is
Great review. Hope your channel grows soon you have good content. Hoping to get one of these next. Have a mete mc9. Had the tp9 elite sc but traded that in for my mete mc9. Kinda wish I just would’ve added the mete instead of traded but oh well. I feel like my elite sc would’ve collected dust and I would carry the mc9 constantly now.
Thank you I appreciate that! And I hear you there it sucks having to do it but I think you made a good choice. The mete mc9 is awesome! And you will love the rival as well. I ended up porting mine and doing a few other things and it's a flaat shooter. I'll be doing a video soon
Good video! Did you do the stippling? I have the Darkside. So far, I have about 500 rds through it without any failures. I just put in a Freedomsmith trigger. Hopefully, I'll get to the range tomorrow!
Thank you! Its a great gun I've probably put another 1500 or more rounds through it since this video. It's been awesome so far! Yours should be an absolute machine with that trigger. Let me know how you like it. And yes I did the stippling myself
@@primeddefender I was able to put 100 rounds down range today with the Rival + Freedomsmith trigger. It really cuts down on pre-travel, and the beveled sides of the trigger face mean I can get more of my palm on the back of the grip, as while I have large/XL hands, my fingers aren't very long. So for me the Freedomsmith trigger was worth it, although the Canik stock trigger is very good.

The holster will work perfectly if you do the following: round off the edges on the inside of the holster using sandpaper, where it clamps on to the trigger guard. This will also make the tension screw work as it should.
I ended up putting a different belt attachment and put an extra retention screw in so it doesn't pivot around the one point. Now I can crank the retention down on it but still draw smooth. Thank you for the advice though!
Yes, I concur: *a masterpiece.* The *Canik SFx Rival Darkside* is way better than the others, like the overhyped and overpriced FN 509 LS Edge, for half the price! A phenomenal platform of its class. I am a Canik-fanatik 😎 and highly recommend this model, you will appreciate it.
It is one of my absolute favorites! The trigger is fire and it's an incredible gun not just for the price but all around. It speaks volumes that a lot of reviewers compare it to 1500 dollar guns. Thank you for watching!
Very nice video! Have you had a chance to shoot the SFX Rival-S? If so, is it a big upgrade to the Rival Dark Side? New Subscriber here for sure!! Thank you.
Light primer strike. I think I got a batch of ammo with hard primers because it did it with my sig and Smith & Wesson as well in the same mannor. Yes only the one I've probably got another 1000 through it buy now and it's been awesome!
I did this stippling job myself but I would suggest getting it professionally done unless you are extremely confident in it though. They do also make different grip tape you can buy that you cut and stick to the gun to give it more texture as well. Talon grip is one of them I believe
It has a plate but it's nice aluminum one that comes with it. I've shot thousands of rounds through it and haven't lost zero at all. Are you looking into this gun?
I was considering getting a patniksolutions optic instead of using the canik supplied optic plate because I was unsure of its durability....how has the plate been holding up?
@dnellidefense6127 thanks bro.... that's what I needed to know...I'll definitely use the canik plate....how much torque did you use mounting the plate to the slide because I don't recall reading it in the manual?
@@garoristic I did 15 in lbs because that is what the holosun manual had said. I couldn't find anything on it in the canik manual so I was unsure as well. Like I said mine has held up very well though with that

I'll admit I was skeptical of Caniks when I first got one but after having five now they have become my go to. Believe it or not I even prefer them over my Sig's and Smith & Wesson's. This one here is no different for me. Great gun!
Another great video!! I love how much time and effort you put into your videos.
