    Smoked a Qd'O 50 this morning with a smooth Guatemalan coffee on your recommendation. I had a slightly loose draw but the burn and construction were otherwise perfect. It was quite consistent, with nuttiness, delicious saltiness and extremely smooth. Like a salty Epicure no. 2 for sure. It made my coffee taste like mocha! Absolutely delicious and firmly into my favourites list. Thanks for the review. I also really enjoy your podcasts and catching up on the library of videos. You lads live a wholesome and fun life - nothing better than a BBQ with friends and some nice tastes to experiment with. I really enjoyed a few summers in Sweden sailing as a kid and can't wait to visit again soon. Maybe you could arrange a listener meet up one day?! All the best.

      Oh wow that sounds like a wonderful combination and a wonderful time! Thank you so much for the kind words man, it's very inspiring for us and so cool to hear that you've visited our country! We've actually met up with a bunch of people through instagram and the like before so it's always fantastic to share a cigar with people of the same passion!

    i think it's a humidity issue not a cigar issue

    I can’t stand when I get one with that same burn issue. Little to no smoke and I’ve found that the core has tobacco that just won’t burn properly. If that happens now I just toss it and grab another. Life too short to fuss with. Glad yours got better👍🏻. Your reviews are up there with the best…

      I usually smoke Romeo y Julietta wide and short Churchills, the Quai D'Orsay No.50 was recommended as a very mild alternative.
      TBH, a very nice, what I would call a lazy day cigar, paired well with a a coffee as per the video author, or with an orange liqueur, nice combination with the mild chocolate of the cigar @@dnlxl

    First box of these were outstanding with a light wrapper. The first box tasted like cedar and super smooth. Second box were terrible with a dark wrapper and tasted the same as a young vegueros like smoked meat. I wont buy them again due to this tremendous inconsistency.

    • @StogieLads

      Damn that’s a shame! First edition releases are usually super good from Habanos so that makes sense. The production recently has been much better now that the hype has died down a bit.

    Do yourself a favour and change how you light your cigars!! That will help you out massively mate. 👍🏻

    • @StogieLads
      @StogieLads  2 года назад +1

      Change it to not slowly toasting the foot?

    • @Wazzaa-27
      @Wazzaa-27 2 года назад

      @@StogieLads I have literally just finished smoking this cigar in the last 30 minutes.
      I use a match to light mine the majority of the time, I twist the cigar and gently go around the outer part of the foot, I find this helps in keeping the burn line even, and once I have done that, then I twist the cigar in my mouth while drawing on a yellow flame again using a match if possible, the lighter you use is so powerful, that it will cause the cigar to tunnel, especially with your lighting technique. I’ve seen a lot of people light it the way you do, all that does is burn through the cigar well before it’s due to be.
      I hope this makes sense mate. 👍🏻

    • @StogieLads
      @StogieLads  2 года назад +1

      @@Wazzaa-27 I really appreciate the kind intentions man! I just have to comment though that lighting a cigar cannot make it tunnel unless you’re deliberately not lighting the wrapper. Poor construction and distribution of ligero/viso will usually lead to tunneling. The lighter I’m using is a literal cigar lighter and not at all powerful. Matches do not work at all outdoors. Also lighting the cigar while drawing in the mouth is something I avoid as that overheats the tobacco too much and chars the cherry. I don’t let the flame ever touch the cigar and you never should. Slowly toasting by letting the heat from the flame heat the cherry is the way to go.

    • @Wazzaa-27
      @Wazzaa-27 2 года назад

      @@StogieLads yeah I suppose mate, to be honest, I smoke outside when the weather is nice and in my summer house when the weather turns slightly, but I always light inside, so I suppose for me lighting with a match is never an issue. If you live in a country where you don’t have to worry about things like wind and rain then you’re winning, here in the UK even on a summers day, you’re still working against the elements in some capacity. 😂
      I’ll have to send you a link of one of the videos I watched about lighting a cigar, I watched them and have copied them ever since. I smoked a Diplomaticos yesterday, they’re in my top 3 all time cigars, what do you think to them? To be honest, the one you have reviewed (the one I smoked today) is definitely up there with some of the best I’ve had.

    No offence but that's not how you light a cigar. Having said that this video is over a year old so I'm sure you've realised that you have to spend much longer on lighting it.

    • @StogieLads
      @StogieLads  2 года назад +1

      Hahaha what are you talking about man?

    • @variszarins
      @variszarins 2 года назад +1

      @@StogieLads Let me just start by saying that in theory one can do whatever he or she wants with a cigar. Having said that, I encourage you to light the cigar at a 45 degree angle and then rotating the cigar to make sure it's even around the foot. By lighting it at such angle the centre of the cigar will most like be properly lit by the time you're done. When you're directing the flame straight at the centre, I find that there is a tendency for the burn to get uneven around the edges as it's very difficult to aim it at like dead centre. Also, you didn't spend enough time toasting/lighting the cigar. If you look at the foot of the cigar as you take your first puff you can see that there are a lot of black "spots" that are not properly lit. You could also puff on the cigar as you light it. Again, rotate the cigar as you do it.
      Like I said, this and the previous comment was not meant to be a criticism but instead a suggestion that has allowed me to have no wonky burns on cigars for a while now. Properly lit tends to = sharp burn

    • @StogieLads
      @StogieLads  2 года назад

      @@variszarins Ah I see what you mean. Yeah I just rotated the lighter instead if you look at the video haha it literally makes zero difference. I also toasted the cigar for almost a minute and at a 50 ring gauge that’s certainly more than enough. Appreciate the feedback my friend!

    • @StogieLads
      @StogieLads  2 года назад +1

      @@variszarins Also don’t want to give off the wrong vibe haha I’m certainly not offended. This was a hastier lighting than average for me but if you watch one of my other 70ish cigar reviews I hope I can settle your nerves that I know how to light a cigar properly haha. Always kind to reach out and offer tips though!
