Just visited Motown in April 2018 and brought many wonderful memories! The building where all this magic happened is now a historic building. There is going to be a 50 million expansion done around the original building. History continues to live on. Congratulations to the Gordy Family and Foundation.
I wonder if Berry Gordy & co realised what a truly magnificent musical monster they released on the world when they started Motown? All I can say is GOD BLESS THEM
Yes, the absolute best rhythm, velvet sound and perfect timing - original and irreplaceable. I am so honoured to have been alive during this time and honoured I was born to LOVE it!!!!!
Not entirely accurate. More accurate would be to say that the music worth listening to was easy access. There's very much a whole lotta people who make music, they just don't make a whole lotta success enough to play everywhere, and it's harder to find them unfortunately.... Still, they do exist and always will
For fathers day in June 2018 my 3 daughters gave me a Certificate good for one daddy-daughter trip to the Rock and Roll hall of fame in Cleveland,Ohio. Then they surprised me with side trips to Graceland, the house where The Christmas Story was filmed ( you'll shoot your eye out!) Then because I have been Sober in AA for 33 years, the took me to the home of one of the two founders of AA in 1935. When they were teenagers I divorced their mother due to addiction which caused her to abandon them and I raised them. It's early November and I am still wearing the wrist band from when we entered the Rock Hall of Fame in Cleveland,Ohio. Don Bell NW Harris county, Texas
Wow. The memories these songs bring back. I was just a little kid for so much of this (b. 1961) but it was still a part of my life. I grew up in NE Ohio, but we could get CKLW (the Motor City ...) at night on the transistor and they played TONS of Motown. Not as big a fan of the Supremes, but the rest, including the solo acts -- awesome. Thanks for sharing.
These older songs bring back so many great memories ❤️ I have two older sister that listened to these amazing songs when I was just a little girl. Still and always will love Motown music. Why no Sam Cooke?
I bought my first Motown album in 1970 and 50 years later still have a lot of Motown tracks on my 2020 i phone playlist. I’ve seen Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, the Temptations, and the Four Tops live.
Wow! Nathaniel Jordon this music is so special for me...I live in Mexico but I Grew with this songs in the radio, Thank you for you time in this recopilation and video!!!
I always like to look back on the old days...even though this is old ..its nice that we can pull the past up on utube..im 56 yrs old and the 60's was the best yrs for Motown..i love it..
I, love all this music and It brought me back to my youth years, which I used to spend hours and playing those 45' records of all these most wonderful and talented singers. I, love all of them, and who ever talks bad about them are just jealous and evil individuals. Those times were very hard for these stars, and despite everything they made it to the top. I know because I came to live here in 1961 from another country. It was truly hard on all of us. These artist were the BEST, and merit all the respect in this world.
Motown is where all the good started 😘 En I was just a itty bitty girl listening to my 45 of Diana Ross and the Supremes on my little blue record player singing and dancing the whole show! That's when it all started for me and I'm so thankful and so grateful for their unrequited love and friendship they unknowingly gave me all my years growing up#!

Nov.28: Happy birthday Berry Gordy Jr., Entrepreneur / Motown Records founder (January 1959; Hitsville USA) God bless. Legend. Thanks for the upload, Nathaniel Jordon. Blessings
Songs that told a genuine and true story of things that happened in real life weather good or bad but you actually could’ve learned from growing up they were like learning trees which still today speaks to one sole ❤
Smokey was a great writer, singer and producer. He deserves a movie of his own. That also applies to Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye. Motown had a lot of talent on board. Side note: My grandmother did not like too much secular music but she really liked the Impressions.
That makes sense as The Impressions put out several tracks that bordered on church music. They did a re-make of "Amen" and would anyone doubt that "People Get Ready" had religious overtones. Even "It's all Right" has a spiritual vibe. Your grand-mom had good taste. (However, The Impressions were not a Motown group, they were on ABC Paramount Records.
I've heard some of the young generation sing some of these wonderful gorgeous music, but there not giving them the chance to revive them again, because them want the music of today which it doesn't stand not even to there ankles. Thoses song's were and are the best. I was born in 57, but I always heard all thoses song's. I'm puertoriquen, but never was too in to my own music, it was always soul music. Boy did I get so much beaten because of it, that didn't stop me, got a cassette player and headphones and heard my music anyway. For me soul music is the best anytime. Love then still love it now, have a big collection of all them oldies. Mmm.
I'm from Detroit Motown still to this day makes proud of my city, what came off of West Grand Blvd. Changed music came ok but off my city where was born and grew up,its a feelin off so much pride,we in Detroit feels it belongs to us
