An alternative interpretation is that turbo granny has been around so long, she’s totally numb to tragedy. But considering how she cared for the girls murdered in the tunnel, it might be more accurate to say that Turbo Granny doesn’t sugarcoat the reality of things. And my favorite interpretation is that Turbo Granny gave that cold speech for Acro Silky’s benefit, to teach Aira what needed to be done in Acro Silky’s final moments in order to save her afterlife. 👀
My guess is that this mofos were debt collectors. She was a sex worker but had to give some or everything of her earnings to them, but she bought the dress and didn't have enough money left. It's just my assumption, I don't really know.
Almost certainly gang/yakuza related thugs. It would be difficult to be in her line of work and not be associated with them. She couldn’t pay them so they took the kid to… well…. …they got their money one way or another.
A few clarifications either from the manga or imply by the author: 1.Yes in the Manga she is a sex worker beyond the other two jobs to mantain her daugther, is imply that she was a young ballet dancer but get pregnant and had to rise her child alone so thats what she had to do to survive, the men that take her child where probably Yakusa, a lot of poor people in japan have to give the money just to keep living. 2. That dancing scene is her taking her life, she belive she has lose her daugther so she go to the roof of a building, dance and the jump. you can even hear the hit to the floor in the cut to black. is just that is more dificult to show sucide in a tv show that in a manga. 3. sorry for disapoint people that where hopping for a happier ending for the child but is pretty much imply she is death. Aira call for "THEM" to be take to a kinder life, and that final scene of mother and child watching the starry sky simbolice them in the afterlife. The anime honestly make an amazing work by make a lot of thinks a lot more implicit, but either way this is an incredible story told mainly just by images so i give credit to the author and every body involve in the adapatation.
11:50 I like how this story handles its demons. They’re not cartoonishly evil just for the sake of it. They are ghosts that got consumed by their emotions and that is what causes them to hurt people. Even turbo granny started as a protector for those dead abused girls. It turned into an anger and she attacked anyone who wandered into the tunnels.
Spirits and yokai are not the same, spirit are souls of people, while yokai are corrupted souls that clung to their past out of hatred and resentment, deforming their bodies. legends and myths of japan
I just finished this episode and even as a manga reader this was still incredibly sad. The anime keep it some what vague compare to the manga but there is a panel showing the mother flipping off a building to her death. I kinda wish we would get that animated since it was a beautiful (not really) panel. It's horrifying to think what could've happened to Acrobatic Silky's daughter knowing those loan shark are probably the yakuza.
DDD is categorized as romcom battle shonen anime/manga and it will be that way in future episodes. It's just that every yokai (evil spirit) tends to have a tragic death that made them couldn't have rest in peace. Turbo Granny is also an evil spirit and we, manga readers, still haven't got her back story yet. Probably will be as dark and disturbing as Acro-Silky's.
With the fanfare placed upon Aira's soul being extinguished I have to assume her friends ARENT dead just really roughed up by Momo in self defense. Dammit you're making me defend Turbo Granny, but her entire nihilistic monologue while seemingly aimed at Acrobatic Silkie seemed as if it'd work just as well if she was talking about herself. After all, she's a Youkai with regrets too, she just not dying. Also glad you changed your mind about Aira, it didn't seem like much but for Acrobatic Silkie it was EVERYTHING. That girl comforted and saved the one who almost killed her. Her only context was the brief flashback and without justifying, without forgiving without prejudice she gave her the final push to reach the afterlife and reunite with her daughter.
I think turbo granny said those things in the way she did was to make them move... I think what she said was what made aira move... but that's just me...
Turbo Granny was only kind to the victims. To her, Acro-Silky, although tragic, by taking her own life did not merit that compassion. TG would more likely have compassion to Acro-Silky's daughter.
I heard from a manga reader about the fate of acro silky daughter the yakuza or Mafia had brought in to sell her organs.. because in manga the daughter she died too
I cried so hard watching this episode. This is a masterpiece
This episode really reminds you that, despite looking cuter now, Turbo Granny is still an EVIL spirit. 😅
Big YUP

Love this perspective
@@BenEllmann Turbo Baba might also been saying it that way to trigger Aira on doing something.
@@hollyciampaglio Turbo Granny has a soft spot for girls but at the end of the day she's still an asshole lmao
Aira got to say what she always wanted to tell her Mom
Silky was told what she always wanted to Hear from her Daughter.
10/10 Episode.
100%!!
Thank you for asserting the value and excellence of the anime culture. And thank you for your inspiring reaction that move my heart.
Of course! I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction, thank you for watching 🫶

That is absolutely AWFUL.

Tubo did call the ambulance, though she seems to have texted (don't know if they could even have heard her if she called).

What Aira did was truly beautiful! You put it into words perfectly
ahhh man I laughed... like a good laugh, when you talked about turbo granny playing in traffic for all you care.
Turbo granny was a little harsh. But she was just spitting facts 😅

The government? Japan is not a third world country or some sort of dystopia. The government doesn't beat people up and steal their kids.
Hey man it’s a fiction story i don’t know

Absolutely awful…
you should put dub in your title. it’s a competitive advantage
Some would disagree 😂😅
Sure, if you want to see a less good version
It does NOT hit the same in English. There is like zero emotion gross
@@cheeseoh I think it hit just fine! ☺️ I still cried like a baby
wow the dub voice acting does not do this episode justice
Honestly with how much I cried I can’t even imagine what the sub is like
The sub dickriding never ends.
The dub is fine imo but the sub feels much more impactful, especially from Silky, she sounds more authentic to me in the sub
@@SLBoy100 I think hearing it for the first time after listening to sub it was just a bit jarring for me but you're right the dub is fine
dont worry! Just continue watching it in dub pls 😭🙏🏽@@hollyciampaglio
