While we KNOW the assignment was for you, you went back and confirmed it. Second, instead of making a visual approach and 'flying the ILS,' you requested the ILS. I have two questions for you. It’s often said that the Citation jets are very fast only behind some Lear jet models while others call the Citation the Slow-ration..? Number 2 can you use only nonpolarized sunglasses or only polarized to see the display screens. I was pretty young and my mother to me to downtown Memphis TN in a high rise building that the law firm she worked for had their offices in. I was promised a great show overlooking the Mississippi River at Springfest in May, I think the attorneys cut the air way back on the weekends. While waiting the was a brand new copy of some plane magazine with the Citation on the cover. No I didn’t steal it either. And the big show was a Marine Harrier jet came whistling up the river stopped did a few few 360° and some nose down turns. Pretty cool for any 8yr old to see. 1982. I believe. I did get the the jet 2 weeks later.
@@Marks-Law It depends on the model. The CJ3+ and below are what are referred to as the slow-tations. They are straight wing aircraft so their top speed isn't that great. The Cj3+ though is one of the best performing citations out there. The Cj4 has a slightly slept wing (7 degrees), so it is faster. In the jet world, most people consider a jet fast if it can cruise at Mach 0,80. The 3+ is 0.737 and the 4 is 0.,77. In regards to the polarized question, also depends on the model and avionics installed. The Cj4 has Proline 21, and you are correct the polarized sunglasses are not much good. I do however wear them still, and that's what I'm wearing in this video. I've found the Proline screens are still hard for me to see with regular sunglasses, so I just gave up and wear polarized. The Cj3+ has Garmin, and you can see it with any sunglasses.
I really like the paint scheme ! Which is something I always look for when looking at jets, then it's the flight decks. Cessna's Citation line is a very impressive line of planes. Hey Ryan, another great flight. Thanks for showing the addition of oil to that jet engine. I wonder how you know how much oil to add, does it tell you on an inside instrument or does it have some kind of dipstick?
A little hard to describe, but there is a sight glass on the side of the engine that you can see through another door. There are two lines on it, one that says add oil and one that says fill line or something similar that indicates too full. More importantly though, there are 4 bolts that hold the sight glass on. When adding oil, you fill to the third bolt. In a future video I’ll try to film it for you.

Good call staying IFR. Sadly a few years ago a medivac pilot descended into the smaller mountains northwest of the airport with visual on the airport at night coming from Great Falls. All died. I did all of my career flying in the Midwest. I don't think I'd ever do a visual up here at night.

Is this information in your FP you filed?
11:50 Say it’s an unfamiliar field and or mountainous at night and your SOP prohibits the Visual, might you just tell them straight away: “Unable Visual, request ILS/RNAV Rwy # please”? I suppose you could just request first then Unable their Unable if they deny you…

Interesting battery voltage prior to hitting the start button. 😉 Judging from the after start amps you have a lead acid battery. Jealous, my mechanic insists on NiCad though I much prefer the lead acid. Funny thing though, we started with the original Li ion batts.
I'd love to try the CJ4 with the Lithium Ion. It is indeed lead acid. I just switched my CJ3+ from niCad to Lead Acid. Engine starts are now roughly 100 C cooler. Our niCads went downhill very quickly.
@@TheRunwayRyan we started with early serial numbers that had the Li-ion batteries. Cessna built the 4’s avionics around that 26.5V battery. It was great until we had a red BAT FAIL message within four months on one of them. Then the service center burned a customer’s up and POOF, no more lithium allowed. We were using lead acids but our maintenance much prefers Ni-cad. My observations between those two match your own. Besides upkeep the only upside I see with Ni-cads is they recover so quickly (like the lithiums) that there’s never a wait at the hold short line to get under the 20A limit.
boy I do dislike that. I had to wait about 10 minutes a couple days ago because it was low IFR and I definitely didn’t want to go without being under 20a. The new CJ4 Gen 3 has the lithium back so it will be nice

@@TheRunwayRyan no problem, good to hear!
Luckiest man alive
Definitely! Blessed far more than I deserve!
The clicking fingers at the beginning is really annoying. That's why I did not give the video a thumbs up.
GREAT VIDEO, DONT SEE ALOT OF CJ4. BUT YOUR VOICE TOOK AWAY FROM IT HARD TO UNDERSTAND AT TIMES.
Well, I am from Arkansas. We aren't really known for being the most well-spoken people out there.
@@TheRunwayRyan not your accent, you were very horse like a sore throat, your vocal chords were traumatized. I want to watch your Vlog flying the CJ#1 you spoke about. Ur channel is probably the best Aviation based channel on Utube. Close ur plane doors tightly...LOL boston bill usaf Vietnam vet 68-74. Tnx Ryan
