I Am Legend is one of my favourite books! I definitely agree that the creatures seem more like vampires than zombies. I also just read The Book of Accidents and loved it.
The Return is great. I kinda want to stay in that hotel...... Summer of Night is one of my favorites. I adore it, and IT. I guess I just love those coming of age horror tales.
Into the drowning deep is one of my favourites. By Mira Grant. Basically a bunch of science people on a huge boat looking for evil mermaids. Slow burn at the beginning, but it gets really good and creepy!

You pause a book for a month and then get back to it? Doesn't that make you lose the train of the story and you forget some of the main characters and how they fit into the story, or what relation they were to the main character?
