The chimp scene from "Nope" getting a 0 is kinda off the point I'd reckon. I used to work in a French school in DR Congo, and one of my colleague was only a teacher to pay the bills. His and his wife's main focus was a chimp' sanctuary. So basically he would try and rescue chimpanzees in the area, mostly young ones who had escaped poachers, some who had escaped hunters, and adults who had been taken by rich idiots as pets. Those last ones were the worst, and most dangerous. He used to tell us of one chimp' in particular, who had been abused so much he was half mad by the point he rescued him (dressed in human clothing, not enough space to live in, bad food for a chimpanzee, alcohol, and even cocaine...). One day, that particular individual escaped from the sanctuary, and began a frenzy through the city : crossing roads, throwing things at cars and people, running wild in the streets... He ended up in the maternity ward of the local hospital (a half-crazed chimpanzee on a frenzy in the middle of cradles...scary thing !). The police wanted to shoot it, they were discouraged from doing so. Eventually, he charged my colleague, full speed. The dude stood his ground, hands on hips, and the chimp' just stopped, which gave a vet' enough time to finally aim right and tranquilize him. Earlier, when his wife had tried to calm down the animal, he had bitten her on the face, and luckily she "only" had a single serious cut (which gave her a small scar). They told me an angry chimpanzee could break a human skull with his hands if it wanted to... Most of the times, what they found were dead or wounded chimpanzees when those encountered poachers or hunters, but sometimes the poachers would actually be killed, and apparently what a band of angry chimps' do to a human is not a pretty sight. All in all, treating a chimpanzee, with the strength is has, as anything other than an actual chimpanzee, is a very bad idea, and someone getting hurt is then only a logical result. So the movie might not sell us the "good ape" side of the story, but the chimp's behaviour in that instance kinda makes sense...

Even with the wild ones it doesn't make sense. Power struggles lead to non-consensual castration and missing fingers. Territory disputes lead to wars. He'll, Jane Goodall herself nearly got beaten to death by one. The same one that would later kill and eat a human baby. Chimps are 100% about that action.
Wild chimps are also highly aggressive and violent. Have you seen what happens when two chimp groups cross paths in the jungle? The outcome isn’t pretty.
This is literally the type of expert reacts videos I despise 😤 Lady, we KNOW these are fictional, we KNOW Kong does not and cannot exist, we KNOW its unlikely a human could be raised by apes Not discrediting what she knows but to basically discredit the work of Terry Notary and Andy Serkis and others who have painstakingly studied these animals to get their portrayals accurate is frankly insulting, Serkis did not spend so much time with gorillas to get Kong as real as he could for King Kong 2005 just to have some boffin say "that's not real, that can't happen" And need I say more about the stupid remarks and ratings for Nope and Night At The Museum? This is why the expert react series with Jonathan Ferguson (keeper of firearms and artillery at the Royal Armouries Museum in the UK which houses a collection of thousands of iconic weapons throughout history) is the best because he knows when something is fictional and will actually praise what devs do while pointing out inaccuracies
I don't understand her scoring criteria. She talks about how several aspects of each are realistic or not, but doesn't assign the score based on the accuracy of the behaviors. Seemingly, she scores based on how those behaviors get portrayed, or even the impression they form with the audience. The capuchin monkeys from Night at the Museum was the most confusing, since she explained that every one of the behaviors exhibited by the monkeys was accurate to wild capuchins, but since she disagreed with live monkeys being used in the entertainment industry, the film got 0/10. It's odd that a PhD Fulbright Scholar and National Science Foundation fellow would have so much trouble understanding this assignment.
Maybe because this assignment doesn't mean sense. Most of the movie are totally unrealistic. The rate in itself doesn't mean sense. Most of shark movies are stupid too.
Enjoy the video and learning about apes - but doing “reviews” and rankings of movies doesn’t really make any sense here since most of these movies are showing some sort of an extreme example or modified/ape like creature Probably would’ve worked better if she just kind of reacted and commented
What do you know the "expert" is wrong again Bonobos are not aggressive really a new study publishing April 12 2024 in the journal Current Biology shows that, within their own communities, male bonobos are more frequently aggressive than male chimpanzees. For both species, the more aggressive males had more mating opportunities. They also noted that female bonobos and chimpanzees are not passive and also display aggression, the researchers found that male bonobos were more frequently aggressive than chimpanzees. Overall, bonobos engaged in 2.8 times more aggressive interactions and 3 times as many physical aggressions. While male bonobos were almost exclusively aggressive toward other males, chimpanzees acted aggressively toward females as well as males. Chimpanzee aggression was also more likely to involve "coalitions" of males, rather than just one on one violence.
I think she's a bit to biased in her love for apes which is valid.. but I wouldn't say chimps are not prone to violence probably one of the most violent apes. seen documentary where they brutally fight between themself and attack and kill other chimps brutally to the point of torture and than most horrific attacks on humans were also done by chimps.. I enjoyed the video for the insight and knowledge about apes but the rating system was off..
The interesting thing about Nope is that when Gordy discovers Jupe hiding under the table, he actually signs “What happened family?”, implying that he wasn’t aware of what he had just done
Kong in the Godzilla Kong movies shouldn't even be part of the discussion here. Hes not a gorilla, and he's so far beyond the intelligence and characteristics of a real life ape that discussing his realism is a waste of time.
I really enjoyed the video that you presented that you described what actual primate activity is versus Hollywood fantasy. I appreciate your knowledge and experience as always Dr. sweets Mireya!! Love Ya 🤗♥️
I really enjoyed this video, Mireya gave so much educational information! I love primates, and learning things I never knew when watching this video was amazing! Thank you Mireya!!
I think you should have checked out the other 2 King Kong films. There’s the original from 1933, and the bizarre (but fun) remake from 1976. In both of those films, Kong’s size changes throughout the settings. Like, in the original, he’s 18ft on his home island (known as Skull Island after its most famous mountain), and 24ft in New York. The director made this decision so Kong could stand out amongst the skyscrapers that NYC is known for. And, in the ‘76 remake, he’s 42ft on Skull Mountain Island, and 55ft in NYC. Plus, he climbs the original World Trade Centre instead of the Empire State Building.
I think the video would work a lot better without the numerical rating because it is unclear if Mayor is rating based on her preferences for the movie / scenes or based on how realistic the scenes are or how probable she finds the scenes.
People are complaining about her ratings but, whatever problems there may be with those, she does a really good job explaining why a scene may or may not be realistic.
So what I learned today is that when we make movies about animals doing things those animals have never done, like take over the world, those movies aren’t realistic. Say it ain’t so.

Also, like so many others, you didnt get the premise of these videos: How realistic is it?
She gave all the stuff that isnt realistic a low score, as she was asked to do.
If nothing else, enjoy the quality information she provided, as opposed to grieving over a bad rating for one or another movie you like.
@@Ganiscol Except Nope got a score of zero despite being based on something that actually happened.
You can't give something a zero for being unrealistic when it literally happened.
@@Ganiscol If I told you your reenactment of Julius Caser was spot on, excellent, best ever done, but then said I personally hate the Romans so because of that I have to give you a zero grade, is that a fair assessment of your acting?
NOPE 0/10!? Lady, you have obviously never heard of Travis, chimp civil wars, chimp politics, or even chimp hunting parties/raids
a 0 for Nope? kinda crazy but i do see her perspective from a wild chimp but from one that’s been forced to do acting work & that has been agitated so much to the point where it’s ripping a humans face off? there has absolutely been cases of chimps doing exactly THAT. but it doesn’t make me hate them, it makes me appreciate & respect their space even more
Especially after she pointed out all the things right with it, to then give it a 0 mad no sense
This is literally the type of expert reacts videos I despise 😤
Lady, we KNOW these are fictional, we KNOW Kong does not and cannot exist, we KNOW its unlikely a human could be raised by apes
Not discrediting what she knows but to basically discredit the work of Terry Notary and Andy Serkis and others who have painstakingly studied these animals to get their portrayals accurate is frankly insulting, Serkis did not spend so much time with gorillas to get Kong as real as he could for King Kong 2005 just to have some boffin say "that's not real, that can't happen"
And need I say more about the stupid remarks and ratings for Nope and Night At The Museum?
This is why the expert react series with Jonathan Ferguson (keeper of firearms and artillery at the Royal Armouries Museum in the UK which houses a collection of thousands of iconic weapons throughout history) is the best because he knows when something is fictional and will actually praise what devs do while pointing out inaccuracies
Were they seriously commenting on the realism of King Kong…….cuz the giant 25ft ape isn’t unrealistic enough
Worst one yet.
Agree, didn't like like this at all. He scoring was bad and she got some facts wrong, first time I'm giving a video on this channel a thumbs down
Night at the museum got a zero for using a real monkey? that's ridiculous
Wonder how her reaction would have changed if they let the clip play out and Kong uses the little ape as a weapon.
Did she rate the movies or the attacks? 🤔
A fair question. "This is accurate, but I hate it, so 0."
The clips
@@deckardcanineone movie and ur crying about it why r u so pissed im not mad shes supporting a movie with real animals
@@TjnosaurusRex I'm not mad or crying. I just think she broke the rules.
Gotta say, not liking her appraisals. They sound like all these animals are the gentlest of animals. Very emotional appraisal.
The reviews she gave are honestly terrible.
"Ape Rates Human Attacks In Movies And TV"
crazy thing is NOPE is based on a real event. That actually happened like that
This expert is a one timer here…. Thanks for coming either way 🙏🏻
Enjoy the video and learning about apes - but doing “reviews” and rankings of movies doesn’t really make any sense here since most of these movies are showing some sort of an extreme example or modified/ape like creature
Probably would’ve worked better if she just kind of reacted and commented
Animal aggression because of human interference/exploitation/abuse is one of the theses of Nope. Boo for completely missing the point.
She doesn't understand The Planet of the Apes movies also.
She saw a fight between a gorilla and a leopard?! Talk about that instead of telling us that king kong is bigger than a gorilla.
Gentler side to chimps? She clearly is omitting the infamous Bonobo War.
Bonobos have never been seen going to war, only chimps.
18:21 Very accurate and realistic, however I don't like the movie so 0/10
*very accurate and realistic, and a very good movie, but because they shot with real monkeys and I morally object to that, 0/10.
"King Kong" (2005) shouldn't have been judged negatively because of his size. It's a fantasy. But Kong does behave very much like a real gorilla.
The interesting thing about Nope is that when Gordy discovers Jupe hiding under the table, he actually signs “What happened family?”, implying that he wasn’t aware of what he had just done
What a terrible guest. Very emotional thinking for scientist.
I don’t think this girl is very knowledgeable about apes. Saying chimps are not violent? Lost all credibility
Kong in the Godzilla Kong movies shouldn't even be part of the discussion here. Hes not a gorilla, and he's so far beyond the intelligence and characteristics of a real life ape that discussing his realism is a waste of time.
Someone needs to tell her that she’s rating the apes, not how realistic Godzilla is.
The planet of the apes series is peak. The new movie was good but can’t wait for the next part
title should have been "Ape Expert rates 10 Monkey and Ape Attacks In Movies and TV Based on her feelings"
She should not come back. she only likes kiddy films and not anything that dare hints that they could harm anybody.
wait shes not getting the message behind nope
I know she understands apes, but maybe get someone to explain science fiction to her
I really enjoyed the video that you presented that you described what actual primate activity is versus Hollywood fantasy. I appreciate your knowledge and experience as always Dr. sweets Mireya!! Love Ya 🤗♥️
That was awesome Dr. Mireya! Have a great summer!
I really enjoyed this video, Mireya gave so much educational information! Yes the primates act wrong in movies, and yes they are movies, but you really can't complain about how much information Mireya gave us and how interesting it was to learn! I love primates, and learning things I never knew when watching this video was amazing! Thank you Mireya!!
She’s wrong about Chimps in the Nope clip
Humans did not evolve from the apes. They were developed in different phases from each eras.
Take it easy lady. King Kong is just a movie. It ain’t supposed to be real. 3/10! Crazy
It's her rating, damn. Let her give Tarzan a 10/10 if she wants. If you disagree, do your own rating
This expert did not understand the assignment
The way she said Gorillas are not aggressive, is highly lie to what she typically doesn’t know from any behaviors they would perform or show emotion.
Worst expert rating video yet. I give her 0/10
I think you should have checked out the other 2 King Kong films.
When I picture gorillas it’s the one I watch eating fruits and veggies on RUclips 😂
Weak performance, Mrs. Major.
Not sure what was the point of this video.
Not sure what is the point of your comment.
@@cethomas324Not sure why you are here.
So what I learned today is that when we make movies about animals doing things those animals have never done, like take over the world, those movies aren’t realistic. Say it ain’t so.
The information: informative
The ranking system: meaningless, contradictory, emotional, lacking context, and in many cases, not related to "how real is it?"
Can you rate scar king from godzilla x kong
100 out of 10 IDK
Coming up next: Godzilla expert rate 10 Godzilla fighting scene how real it is.
😂😂😂😂 I did laugh out loud, gotta admit it
I always hate when experts are like " they are not naturally violent "
With animals, groups or people with conditions... the movies almost always make it clear these are unique circumstances
Just because the average gorillas pretty chill means nothing regarding kimg kong reacting violently when he has been kidnapped
Nope was a good movie in my opinion! I recommend it.
I don’t understand why she’s saying how good some of the animals look in the movie and then writing them zero
She gave good analysis of the clips, but her ratings were pure emotion....
That scene from NOPE is actually inspired by a horrible event that took place back on 2009 where a woman was brutally attacked by a chimpanzee.
She said king kong could not climb the empire state building.. if he wanted to he gon do whatever he wants
I mean ...
What is she trying to do here?
rating movies on Favoritism or Realism 😶
Sorry Insider, but not your greatest guest. Not because of a lack of logic but a lack of consistency!
I didn’t expect Godzilla x Kong in this
Mean either
To be fair, I have also never seen an ape fight a godzilla
I agree with her on the aspect of Disney’s Tarzan and her other points.
she is not reviewing them based on the clip shes giving ratings based on her ethical beliefs
Jane Goodall also described how horribly violent they were too. Especially when she documents their wars.
I remembered when i used to work as a zookeeper, I'm in charge for the reptiles, so i didn't know much about apes but once i saw they're fighting and one of the ape just help his hand up and all of them went quiet. It's an interesting thing to observe.
Great effort insider but as you can see most of us the fans aren’t impressed with this Video
If only our ancestors had evolved as apes, we wouldn't be as weak as now
