      @jaturnley Месяц назад +10

      @@madarab Sure, by a tiny amount, but you have buy an entire new mobo and RAM to use them. You can slot a 5700X3D/5800X3D into a 4 year old system and immediately get a big FPS average bump in performance in modern games.
      It's $200 more for the cheapest 7600+B650 mobo+32GB RAM combo than it is for a 5700X3D. That's 90% of the performance for half the price and you don't even have to disassemble your whole system to get it.
      And if you already have a 5800X3D, the need to upgrade is pretty low at this point. Even if you unrealistically slap a 4090 into your 5800X3D system (like I did), it will give you silky smooth 60+ FPS gameplay in any game you throw at it with every graphic option turned on. The 1080p charts on the latest Hardware Unboxed charts show 140fps, which for most people definitely qualifies as "amazing" for a chip that's now over 2 years old and slots into a system that's more than twice that age.

      But I need to blow money somehow, so I'm eying memory....so I can run Chrome...
      Joking aside, it's hard for me to think how a 9950x will make a difference for me. I'd probably get as much, or more of a boost by uninstalling a bunch of crap that I've installed in the name of "tweaking".

      I've got a 5950x, 7950x (and more). In a blind test, I'm not sure I could tell the difference between them, gaming included.
      Obviously, there will be a bigger jump up to a 9950x, but if the 5950x is doing what you need, then buying something else isn't an "upgrade". In my case, it's often just an excuse to buy new stuff and I always figure out a way to justify it to myself.

    On X670E platform with Ryzen 7950X3D or any 7000x Ryzen. The Sweet Spot is DDR5-6000. And only single rank is allowed if you want to fill all your ram slots. However NO RAM markets itself as Single Rank or Dual Rank. In other words, my motherboard has four slots for ram. DDR5 DDR5 allows for 32 gigs per stick well I wanna put four sticks in my system fill up every slot that will give me the maximum amount of ram. 128 gigs. But no wait there's a special thing for DDR5 some DDR5 memory now can do 48 gigs per stick for a total of 192 gigs, so why wouldn't I wanna do that, why would there be such a super flaw, that you wouldn't be able to run DDR5-6000 the sweet spot with 192 gigs of ram. I want all the ram, so yeah it's great that the X870E is going to support DDR5-8000 , but that's not my concern, my interest is, can I Please MAX out the ******* ram on my motherboard.?.!. October or so was Intel new release. It is gonna be exciting. Intel will be faster because HT is slower than the E cores. When they stop HT, less heat is produced so the E and P cores can go up in frequency. My money is on Intel being the fastest later on, but for sure it is good for the consumers that they are nicely in battle with each other. You get more performance then for your money no matter which brand processor you choose.

      For gaming, all these top processors are as good. I run a 13700K, turned Hyperthreading off, so have only 8 P cores and 8 E cores (same setup as 5800X3D). That way it can be overclocked even more (and E cores run faster than SMT or HT), I run it at 5800mhz and 4400mhz. That is very very good in any game. 99 out of 100 the graphics card is the limit anyway.

      It depend on how much you need to upgrade. I would wait for the X3D counterparts of the 9000 series, in order to get lower prices, if I did need to upgrade. Also, unless you are going to get a 4090 or something next-gen, around that GPU, you could simply upgrade to the 5800X3D as well. At the end, it's all about your budget, what you need and make a balanced build.

    6:11 Here is a question. The first M.2 and the x16 PCIe slot uses PCIe buss provided by the CPU. If you look at a few cards from ASRock such as the ASRock B650 Steel Legend WIFI they use the B8650 chipset, not the E version, and have the first x16 PCIe slot running at PCIe V5.0 and the fist M.2 slot running at x4 PCIe V5.0. This is interesting as AMD says the B650 only supports PCIe V4.0 and lower for the first PCIe X16 slot and the x4 PCIe M.2 slot.
    So why does AMD say the B850 chipset will not support PCIe V5.0? This keeps bugging me ever since AMD started saying the chipset would somehow dictate what PCIe version the slot that runs directly on the bus from the CPU would support. As far as I can see the PCIe version support should only be depending on the trace pathing and there fore signal integrity of the motherboard. Apparently ASRock has solved that with the B650 chipset, so why shouldn't they be able to do that using the B850?
    Thoughts on this?

  • @jaturnley
    @jaturnley Месяц назад

    The problem with the NPUs in these chips is that they most likely can't compete with even a RTX 2060 in compute power. That's why they aren't bothering wasting die space on the desktop chips with it - whatever modern GPU you are buying to pair with your Ryzen 9000 desktop chip, it's going to do better at Stable Diffusion than XDNA in the "AI 300".
