Doug is probably one of the most generous and fun guys I have had the pleasure of knowing. He is taking my son up in his badlands traveler over spring break. My son is very excited!
That was easily one of the coolest videos I've seen on RUclips period... Where do I start, first of all that 340 is beyond gorgeous with that fresh paint and those Tip tanks. Watching the Fowler flaps deploy from the rear cam is extremely cool.... Then you look at the panel with all the top of the line upgrades not to mention the interior of the plane and all you can think of is, "I want one"...!!! The windows from the outside look like a Gulfstream, very clean lines all around this aircraft. I was actually excited when Doug started to taxi onto the grass strip, just the anticipation of the takeoff is mind boggling not to mention the low fly by on his buddies field and then a flawless landing on his own private strip.... That entire video is like a dream come true for any pilot and from what I can see Doug is extremely knowledgeable and worked hard to make that dream come true. Well done sir and I wish you the best on every flight... :) P.S. Can you please make a few more videos with Doug for everyone to watch, maybe a day trip starting from bringing the plane out to returning later that night. Wasn't sure if he actually does night landings...? Thanks, now I'm going to watch it again....🤓
Good video and very nice presentation of this beautiful Cessna 340. I've had the pleasure of meeting Doug in person at a fly-in in Knoxville, TN a few years ago. Super nice guy. I think the fact that a primary mission for his aircraft is volunteer flights for support organizations speaks for itself. Thank you for what do you, Doug. - Martin
Hey Doug, I've gone back and been watching Bob's Sailing Doodles since Episode 1. I was planning to watch his Flying Doodles episodes when I got caught up with the Sailing Doodles episodes. In that process I ran across an advertisement for his Flying doodles and recognized you so had to stop and watch this episode. I've followed you the past few years on your Facebook page with all you have done with Operation Airdrop. Thanks for all you do for folks in need. Hope to see you again some time.
This was a fun and different video really enjoyed the ride and thanks to Doug for his important and compassionate charity work. I would think making unselfish contributions to those in need is very satisfying, except for the reality of first connecting with unfortunately ill people and then losing that connection to the most hated disease in my book, cancer. I loss two younger brothers to colon cancer, one at 17 years old and another at 41 years old. So again, thank you, Doug. On a brighter note, love the airplane and the upgrades you made.
As other have said..."that Cessna 340 is BEAUTIFUL"! Love those cabin windows too! Fowler flaps...BONUS! It is really sharp and very modern looking...inside and out! Great work on this aviation video production...as usual!👍
I had to give up pursuing my PPL back in high school due to being broke, now I'm 30 and still broke but I'm doing everything I can, selling everything to fast track the rest of my training, hopefully find a decently priced Archer or Cherokee 6 (I can dream) so I can help rescue dogs/birds on the west coast and maybe even get someone to treatment like you.. Keep inspiring. I dream to work as hard as you did to get in the position to help people like you are.
A truly BEAUTIFUL C340..!!! The C340 was my second paid job and I LOVED this A.C..!! Doug.. I am SO SO envious of your beautiful C340. It was really nice to fly along in the one A/C I really miss the most. Thank you. Thanks for sharing Bobby. Absolutely LOVED it..!! - Kimi
I’m contemplating getting my pilot license... I’ve always been obsessed with the 340 ever since I was 6, and found out what they were from a book in a library. This is a beautiful example of a 340, and honestly... I couldn’t imagine a more deserving person! Doug Jackson seems like a great, wholesome, guy!!!! If I ever got my license/certs, I’d love to volunteer with him!
WOW!!!! Now that is how you restore an airplane!!! The interior, exterior and panel are beyond exceptional!!! Love his cando, great guy! Great vid... AGAIN!!!
I flew a conversion a few times and it was a good ride. It was a beast at the controls when you started adding drag. The first 10 degrees was a real pitch-up. But it was a cabin-class for cheap money.....30 years ago!!
Congrats on a great video....Doug was one of your most knowledgeable guests (all of them I have watched have been stellar in generosity and attitude) with an incredible 340. I miss the flying days out of KADS! Keep up the great content.
Doug...Thank you for giving back! The world is a better place because of your vision and charity. You cap - Soggy Dollar, Jost Van Dyke...great place, great sailing!
Robertson STOL systems are amazing, I owned a Seneca III, with the system. Complete transformation. Amazing performance while increasing safety and single engine performance. I have also flown RAM conversion 340A. I can only imagine the increase with Robertson STOL. With the package, the flying characteristics are different. Once learned, the R-STOL increases safety margins, and is a blast to fly. Passengers are always amazed at the takeoff and climb performance. Thank you doodle man for focusing on the R-STOL system.
Great Cessna 340 the way Doug has it configured. The takeoff and landing distances for an aircraft of that type is unbelievable! Really enjoy your videos, Bobby! It is nice that you are able to find nice people like Doug to film their airplanes for your channel. The grass strip is icing on the cake!
Nice Work Doug. The 340 was one of my favorites. But when you stepped up to the turbines you never look back except nostalgia. I look back now going night IFR over mountains in ice. Well let's just say it worked out. Haven't help you if you ever lost an engine or even a turbocharger in ice. Thanks for the Post made my day I'm so glad that life worked it out for you that you could afford to do this as a retirement. I can't help but be a little bit jealous. That wasn't that good of an investor. Still I did get to retire with the DC-10.
Thanks for another super interview. I love Doug's Toybox, and his C340. A beautiful restoration and such a versatile machine. I love the camera audio feeds so we can hear the music from the big sixes as they roar at full noise! Best wishes from New Zealand.
Wow ! Beautiful 340 Doug ! I haven’t seen one of these in a long time. I worked at a FBO in Nashville, while building time in the 80’s and saw them them fairly often then, along with the 335. Always loved the lines of that aircraft, with the positive things from the 310, like the stance and ramp presence, enhanced and made larger and wing configuration more like a 414/421, but with tip tanks. That’s impressive numbers you cite. Not much to dislike, including the 29-30 gal fuel burn and really impressive short field numbers. Amazing job with the upgrades Doug, thanks for sharing ! Safe skies ! 🇺🇸🛫
This channel is awesome! Thanks Doug for sharing these awesome pilots and airplanes! I never even knew a Cessna twin could be such a great short field performer, I'm hooked. Hopefully someday I can afford something like this.
I don't know what it is about this particular video, but I was completely hooked the entire time. Keep up the good work :) I'll message you when I buy my own airplane.
I agree with another post, it would be cool to see more of the airplane interior and a bit more time on the panel (there's a small fortune spent there!). That's an impressive airplane
... "I never use the brakes" ... Greetings and congratulations from Germany for this video, to the pilots for the nice flight and of course for a great plane!
Always loved the 340. Such a beautiful aircraft and this one has anything I’ve seen beat ! My uncle had a 421 Golden Eagle, that was an amazing airplane, but I just think the 340 has better lines. Big thanks to Doug for the ride and to Bobby for another great video ! Safe skies ! 🇺🇸
I love your videos but wish you would overview the passenger areas of the planes you fly in. I find it interesting to see the passenger compartments and the upgrades owners have done. Thanks.

Oh my! I've always thought the 340 and 414 series were sexy. But this one is drop dead gorgeous. Lucky you Doug.

I watch all your vids
My favorite one is the sling 2 taildrager
Love the grass strip! A 340 being flown like it’s a piper cub

Such a beautiful aircraft and a very cool, low key owner. Thanks for sharing, Bobby.

Good video and very nice presentation of this beautiful Cessna 340.

Thanks Martin, you are a great ambassador for GA and your own RUclips channel is a wealth of information!
I worked for Robertson STOL and actually may have built that airplane......the time is right. The increase in performance gain was amazing.
I wish they still made these for the 340. I cannot find a 340A with this kit.
One of the finest Cessna twins ever built. Thanks for showing us this beauty.

But you are extremly too stupid for this thats the problem.
Doug, thank you for your service to those in need.
I'm glad to see someone who spent that kind of money on a turbocharged piston pounder knows how to take care of the engines and run lean of peak.
It’s not particularly complicated.
@@RootBeerGMT Probably not for someone with your brilliance.
A truly BEAUTIFUL C340..!!! The C340 was my second paid job and I LOVED this A.C..!!

Holy smokes I used to think 310s were sexy, this is ridiculous. That gentleman is living the dream!
Man, what a beautiful plane. Love the paint, and REALLY love the panel.
Owned the 1974 310Q for many years
Really appreciated the STOL aspects the this AC
And the owner #’s he share
Keep up the great videos

This was probably one of the coolest videos to date, that Pilot Rocks. Love your new channel Bobby.
Doug, what a beautiful airplane. Thank you for your generous and giving spirit.
A stunning aircraft - a real credit to its owner - from Australia.
A fellow BT Bro! How cool. I remember following the whole purchase and refurbishing of this plane. Great job Doug and Bobby!
This is the most beautiful 340 I have ever seen. He sure takes good care of that beauty. What a great generous man.

I like the comment "as long as both engines are running it's a great short field plane". Very nice guy and a great pilot.
Great video with a lot of in-depth material on both Doug and the 340! That landing...wow! Time went by fast on this one!
Flown 174's here in Snohomish county, this plane is definately a step up, great video.
I loved your video of this beautiful Cessna 340 with Doug's professional flying. Thanks!

Beautiful human being and airplane! I love the Cessna 340 with Ram and stol. Brilliant.
Doug you are a star!
Commendable activity with the relief system in place. Nobody can "thumb down" this.
"That's 2300 feet?!" Love it! Stuffin' a cabin class twin into short and shaggy is pretty cool. I know a guy in AK....

nicest 340 I've ever seen.. Doug seems like a good guy too.. thanks..

I never even knew a Cessna twin could be such a great short field performer, I'm hooked. Hopefully someday I can afford something like this.
Aside of music, this may be the best thing to come out of the 70’s. What a beautiful plane!
Used to fly a 340 in a charter operation. Loved it.
I don't know what it is about this particular video, but I was completely hooked the entire time.
Keep up the good work :) I'll message you when I buy my own airplane.
Absolutely beautiful airplane. And, I love I love the STOL mods. Cessna 340 has always been my favorite.
I love the 340, and my dream is also to fly and help others. Inspirational video.
As long as they are both running.... Truer words have never been spoken.
Great planes 340 and 414's! Thousands hours with very fond memories.
Wow! Beautiful plane. Loved the low level (strafing run 😎) over the other grass strip. That would be a blast. Doug seems like a great guy. 👍
I agree with another post, it would be cool to see more of the airplane interior and a bit more time on the panel (there's a small fortune spent there!). That's an impressive airplane
This is a truly magnificent aircraft. Very very jealous as this would perform perfectly on our shorter grass strips here in South Africa!
What an awesome plane and owner! Great video once again Bobby!
She’s a beauty Doug! After that low pass I was expecting you to pull back on the yoke and right rudder it.
My favorite flying doodles episode!
Beautiful plane. What a nice man. What wonderful charities he is involved with cancer being close to my heart. Love you mom. : ) peace

Top notch landing for sure.
A beautiful airplane and a great work that you are doing. May God continue to Bless you and all of the volunteer's.
Always loved the 340 but never knew how incredible they are. Amazing machines
Man the 340 is a super slick airplane. Always been one of my favorites. Cool stuff.
THANKS Doug those flaps something else. till the next one Bobby
Wow! Doug sure knows his aircraft and what great “toys” he has in that hangar! Whatever he did for a living gave him many rewards indeed!
Awsome Doug .. nice projects you have going there
Love his Soggy Dollar Bar hat. Truly reppin the original "painkiller".
+1 for the Soggy Dollar Bar cap. My favorite beach bar in the World.

It would be great to hear these owners talk about the maintenance expenses involved with owning all these various types of aircraft. Great channel!
Beyond awesome! I was flying out of Meacham back in the 70s and 80s and Parker County and Possum Kingdom so know the area well!
That panel is gorgeous!!
love this! Both the sign in the hanger 'Dougs Toy Box' but also the Soggy Dollar cap... great bar! :D
What a beautiful and highly capable Cessna 340!
I love your videos but wish you would overview the passenger areas of the planes you fly in. I find it interesting to see the passenger compartments and the upgrades owners have done. Thanks.
Brandon Darnell agreed!
Good suggestion! +1
+1 2🙂
I also agree maybe we could get a petion going
I agree.
Very nice airplane. The grass strips are a lot of fun.
I LOVE runways that are just perfect for the airplane that lives there. So cool
Probably my favorite plane you’ve done so far
I'm totally impressed with the interview, the owner and the aircraft! Beautiful airplane!
it's a beautiful plane. Enjoy the virtual ride!
I have flown two 340s, both of a similar vintage. Neither one compared to this one in condition. Beautiful aircraft.
I am discovering your channel and I love these videos. This is who I want to be in 30... maybe 40 years lmao
Hands down best retrofit panel on any piston, turboprop or jet plane ever. I know, I've been planning mine for 10 years!
The older guys ALWAYS know their stuff! 😂 Excellent aircraft, knowledge & charitable organization! Thanks! 🇺🇸
I almost forgot, Superb short field landing!
Beautiful workmanship.
Beautiful plane. Thanks for sharing.
Great job! Just one of the prettiest modern airplanes in the air.
Nice flight Doug.
Ohh that is just a breathtaking 340!!
I think this and the Bad Lands Traveler are my all-time favorite episodes on this channel
Dougs brief description of wing aerodynamics, a trip down memory lane, The Theory Of Flight AC Kermode provided my answers.
It was great to watch this informative video again. They are a desirable a/c.
