People have asked if I would recommend the ebay headers. And unfortunately, I have to say no. Quality control seems to be almost nonexistent. Different people have reported different fitment issues. So apparently, even the problems are not consistent. The Spec E46 headers seem to be a better alternative. And I may go that route in the future.
Currently my exhaust brackets in the rear broke so im using a hanger for temporary support. I been trying to replace it but i’m looking for the right parts. Complete exhaust system upgrade, 1-4. if you could help on best parts, (sounds good, wanna make it sound deeper; not screaming) where to find them or have links. I would appreciate.
Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with exhaust mods for the E46. But the folks at the E46 Fanatics web forum might be able to help you out. Here's a link: www.e46fanatics.com/forums/
Great series not sure if it’s been said before but to get rid of the tamper light on dash you’ll need the light switch from the car the dash came from did it with my build at the moment doing a 330 swap in to my 320ci
Very jealous! I want to go catless and no muffler since the M3 is a quad tipped exhaust, but I cant risk gaining any more horsepower. I have 2 horsepower to play with before I outclass myself so I cant risk performance mods.
I wonder if you could downgrade to non-M exhaust and install catless headers. The idea would be to reduce weight but stay within the HP limit. I don't know the numbers, so I can't be sure. Just tossing an idea out there.
@@michaelblacktree I am not sure, but I'm not going to worry about it. I have an idea for being able to do them maybe over the winter, but not this season.
Man.. wish me luck. I've got clogged cats and am putting on some imitation stock headers with cats, to stay legal. Getting those 16 bolts off is INSANE. Especially since I don't want to take off AC.
@@michaelblacktree Hey man -- do you know anywhere that still sells the headers? Ebay seems to have removed them all -- I can't find a cheap solution at all.
I inserted a piece of pipe into the manifold, and used it to carefully bend the manifold out of the way. I did that with the manifold installed on the engine.
Is it water vapor or oil? If it's oil, that's probably because of engine wear. If it's water, does it smell like coolant? If so, then it's probably a blown head gasket. If not, then it's just water vapor from the combustion process.
I deleted the downstream O2 sensors and the muffler flap, in the ECU programming. I also disabled the catalyst pre-heating. You can read about those things at MS4X.net

Yeah, it was a pain. I tried to be more realistic about that in the video, because I don't want to give people the wrong impression. It's annoying when youtubers do that.

Yeah, getting them fitted is a hassle.
did you end going with the spec headers?
@@WessMadek9 - Not yet. But that is part of the plan.

You made this seem to easy. Lots of people will be fooled by this video when they try and install their E46 headers lol
Did you read the pinned comment?
Can't wait to start on my wagon 525i
If you make any videos, plz share.
For future reference your able to pull the exhaust heat shields out with a pair of vice grips, makes the job 10x easier.
Good work getting those to work. Not for the faint of heart!
You get what you pay for. 😛

Thanks for the info. But at this point, that won't be possible, unless I get another gauge cluster with matching LCM from the junkyard.

People say the headers are worth 5-10 HP. So that would definitely bump you into another class.

Looking forward to it.
Im gonna get some good catless headers for my 330ci
Hopefully they're better than the ebay ones.
great title

@@michaelblacktree Got the top 8 off. Every. Single. Stud. Came. Out.
Lol. Recommend new studs? Red threadlocker?
I reinstalled the studs that came out. Seems to be fine. Although your mileage may vary.

Wow, that's messed up. I wonder what happened?
Olá ficou ótimo

no checkengin light for not pluggin in the o2 sensor ?
I fixed that in the ECU tuning. There's info on the MS4X.com website.
How’d you get the motor mount arm off without supporting the motor?
I supported the engine... (from underneath)
Unfortunately if you lived in New York and it would be no way you can get this car inspected with the check engine light
Yeah, you would need a tune to fix that.
Hello, how did you set the manifold so that it does not touch the side of the automatic transmission because I have the same problem?
I inserted a piece of pipe into the manifold, and used it to carefully bend the manifold out of the way. I did that with the manifold installed on the engine.
Did you torch the manifold and bend it with a hose?
I didn't use a torch. It only needed to move a couple millimeters.
You inserted the pipe into the manifold and you managed to deform it cold?
yes
Where did you get the brace from ? Is it from a vert ?
Do you mean the brace under the driveshaft tunnel? That came with the car.
What e46 is it? And do you have the link for the headers? I cant find headers for mine (m54b22)
The engine is an M54B30. And it looks like the supply of ebay headers has dried up.
someone said aliexpress or alibaba don't remember but check fb groups
Use e36 328 headers , they're catless. I've got them on my m54b22
@@phawupowerhousesakwe7897Does it fit straight on e46 330i?
what about deleting the downstream o2 sensors...do we need to reprogram the car after deleting them?
To get rid of the check engine light, you'll need a delete tune.
Do they fit the xi models?
I'm not sure. But I think ChrisFix installed them on an xi. You could ask him.
I have 04 325ci. I deleted just the cats and now there’s white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Any tips?

@@michaelblacktree there’s no smell it’s just white smoke
In that case, it probably just water vapor. The colder weather will make the water vapor in the exhaust more visible.
What e46 exactly is yours ?
It's an '01 330i (base model).
Is it better for HP? Or same?
I haven't dyno tested it, so I'm not sure. But the stock exhaust manifolds are pretty restrictive. So I think it will add a few HP.
Roughly 10-25hp
No Chip?

Hi, has this modification affected the fuel consumption?
I don't know. I don't track fuel economy on this car.
I’m down
Are e46s manual??
Some are manual, and some are automatic. Mine has an automatic transmission.
What kind of stupid question is that lol
