Moira's damage orb is severely underrated utility. You can use it to displace a sniper or support from their position without exposing yourself to ongoing damage, and it goes through shields.
Jumped into Overwatch 2 with zero FPS chops, got wrecked as Soldier 76, almost ditched the game. But after some beginner tips research, I switched to Moira. Now, I'm not just pulling my weight, but also racking up kills while keeping my team in the fight. Feels good to go from feeling useless to being a key player!
Finally, somebody to stand up for us! I’ve been playing Moira since O2 came out, (first Time player) and I have had the time of my life running around and being a menace, and the funny part is that when you heal the enemy team never expects it. I have gone from silver 3 to plat 5 while playing only Moira, and the higher you go the more the enemies get confused by seeing a Moira.
I have found a good way to use damage orb is to push squishies to where your team needs them, or to push them off of healing tanks. If you throw them towards people, the people tend to disperse to dodge them and if they don't you use that opportunity to push them / dive to kill them. They either respect the orb and sacrifice their position or they ignore the orb and take a lot of damage. The term DPS moira gets thrown around alot and it shows a disregard for how moira is supposed to be played, and the top moira players tend to play her as a dps focused hero while she has the flexibility to switch to healing when she needs to. Moira excels at attrition, and part of that is forcing the enemy team to waste resources and cooldowns dealing with what moira can do.
It’s definitely a psuedo-CC ability. The way you can herd people where you want them to go is super useful. I think about damage orb the way I think about zoning ults like Deadeye or Dva Bomb, where you’re trying to control space rather than necessarily get kills
Honestly once you get above silver this doesn't really work people start understanding the range and just do a little circle thing around it most times it rarely is actually pressuring someone especially if they have a support in their LOS. Play some Ana bap or kiriko and just pay attention to how your team reacts to the orbs. Bronze: runs with orbs. Die Silver: scared of orbs bc of that one time they ran with it and died Gold and above: respects the orb for what it can do while walking around it and moving on Now, that can change if you take a second and plan out where you want the orb to travel and in some spots can really push someone out It works better if they're in a room
@@deusvult6920ya but it works if you bounce it correctly then they are forced to leave position or die ( or take a lot of damage ) I’m gm Moira only, Well my account just got banned But I started a new one 4 days ago and already at master 3 again with just Moira
For the most part heal orb will get more value than damage orb. But that's if it's actually needed. There's a lot of instances throughout the game play where heal orbs are thrown at full or close to full teammates. Including when Genji ulted, you most likely aren't going to outheal a blade. A damage orb there plus your secondary fire would've been more than enough to kill genji, saving your team. If your primary can do the job, the added pressure from damage orb is always worth. I feel some support players tunnel vision on healing, but at the end of the day, you're a support, not a healer, don't be sacred to deal damage when you see fit!
My play style based on what I’ve learned: -literally never depend on other people, not even supports, because she’s so hated -always see what your team is doing so you can support them or you’ll be deemed a “day zero Moira” -always try to heal your teammates, even when you don’t have any more pissources -Orb whenever you get the chance during team fights/duels/whatever -Stay behind the tank and heal or back line when given the chance
As a 46 hours Moira enjoyer I like this video! Also be very cereful using her ult in high elo because heroes like Sombra can deactivate your ult with rmb so wait for her to escape or die and then use it. 1 more lifehack-when your dps using ult you can actually give them a very high amount of healing very close to immortality state just aim at your friendly Genji with her ult and watch him not dying because you outheal all damage dealt to him. Also you can use Moira's ult to heal your tank incredibly fast and it's the most effective way to use it. You can also fade to the enemy backline when there are 2-3 enemies and use ult to heal your team through dealing damage to the enemy backline but be very careful doing that. Enemies would be like look at this clueless Moira dpsing us lets kill her but they will be already dead because your team is healed and they get sandwiched
This just goes to show you that there are different playstyles and success can be achieved with all of them. I just watched Awkwards GM run with Moira and he said you should almost never use healing orb. This guy says almost never use damage orb. I know he said to use damage orb more after damage orbs refill heal bar, but it's still a stark contrast. I prefer healing less and DPS more. Heal only when you need to keep an ally alive, and do damage the rest of the time. This got me to GM 4. It's wild how much damage and healing you can do on Moira.
definitely does show that many people can play to a characters strong suits in different ways. To be honest looking back on this video I should have emphasized stronger when it’s good to play a more aggressive flank Moira style. But honestly I intend this advice for the average player/average Moira. And to get out of the medal ranks I think it’s more reliable to focus on the mass healing side of her kit. But it is all just opinion at the end of the day! Thank you for watching and the comment’

Best tip from a master1-gm5 support player moira's heal orbs are essentially an immortality orb, as if you play correctly you'll always be in a 1v1/1v2 and even two players usually can't out-dps the heal

Like a soldier or Gengi I’m enticed to throw a heal orb , but face to face with Hanzo, widow, or sojourn I’m more likely to throw a damage orb to secure the elim as fast as possible before getting my head clicked
I'm not a fan of this genre of games in general because of my terrible aim, but when my friends got me to play OW2, Moira instantly became my favorite character. She can heal a ton, keep snipers away with the damage orb, and, most importantly, you don't need to have crazy aiming skills. Playing as her still requires a lot of thinking, and not only is it really fun, but you also learn how to play and quickly react to stuff. Though I think it's not good for me to only play one character lol
As a moira main myself i like to keep a slight off angle as much as possible so i can still heal my team and push the enemy backline if i see a support or dps low but i will fall behind my team if i know that the enemy have a few ults that i need to heal through or just need to keep them topped up and for farming coal however i will still try and keep near cover incase i use fade and the enemy try and push me and if my team die or or are in situations that i cant save them from ill just fade out and wait to regroup as i believe its always better to keep myself alive and throw a couple damage orbs to build coal for the next fight without staggering my team.

It’s worth noting on the “protractor” comment that predicting bounce angle is often from experience. JR players also will tell you how Blizz calculates the angle is not consistent depending on the map and even the object.
@@necrosis6037The argument can be made but with her healing orb that when placed properly can bounce around her for up to 5 seconds and ability to disappear in plain sight paired with her lesser cooldown times makes Moira very difficult to kill.
heal orb is a lot easier to get value out of bc you can more easily get the orb to bounce back to where you are than to linger where the enemy is. think dmg orb is better used as pre fight resource gathering, unless you know a thing or two about lineups
When I started playing Moira, the match I was in I had gotten 5,000 dmg and 5,000 H. I can say that she it good if you have a good defensive mindset with occasional aggression
I'm convinced there are no longer any true tanks or supports left in this game. OW1 had main tanks and off tanks, main supports and off supports, but every support in the game feels like you're better off just playing as a dps. Illari gets picks off her beam rifle, mercy is more useful with her damage boost beam, kiriko gets picks in the backrow and TPs away. The closest thing to a main healer might be bap or ana.
Everyone says Moria is useless the higher you rank up, but I’ve one tricked her into Masters and am still climbing. She is lowkey slept on and has the ability to carry the team
There are 2 main problems with moira, 1 at lower ranks, 1 at higher: 1- Lower moiras full diving at wrong times and killing herselfs. (that's on them, to learn the game) 2-The lack of free value. what do i mean by free value? lets look at suzo. 1 junkerqueen ult + Ana sleep + fucking ash burn + idk whatever and suzo wipes it with no worrys, no high skill needed. Well in higher ranks, like Masters and GM, the value is important. She's not played because how hard is to get any value. With this ult change she is stronger but nowhere near to ana or kiriko. Supp is the role with most of this "free value" abillitys , so moira, not being able to have this free value makes her a weaker. Dont get me wrong, there are some cracked moiras who can dominate at higher ranks, but for the hero to be usefull you need to master it to the higher level. This fact makes less pickable, since you also need to be flexible and Mastering a hero is like being otp.
I would like to see a video about Juno. I see some people do a lot of damage & healing with her. Sometimes people only do a lot of healing and almost no damage. What’s the difference between these game plays?
depending on the platform you play on it differs on controls, but for pc one orb would be left click, the other right click. I can only assume for console maybe with the triggers?
I started the season at gold 1 and have been deranked too silver 2 overtime I win most of my games and play balanced so both my dps and heals are roughly the same usually more heals I don’t have many deaths and save my team alot and I beat enemy healers In fights 90% of the time but I still get deranked recently I went 5-2 and 5-1 in most for game wins but still I get deranked from gold too silver and even bronze even though I provide so much too the team
Ay idk what to say my friend. The rank system seems super inconsistent for everybody. I dropped from Masters to Diamond after a 5-3 record. Really doesn’t make sense. Thank you for the comment!
If you do the same damage as healing then you're not healing enough. Considering you were gold , I don't think you were hitting 10k/per 10min dmg and heal at the same time. Also you might be dying a lot , like more than 6 times per 10min. I believe that plays a role.
Silvers hard. I started there and have gotten into gold a number of times but end up back there due to crappy MM. Meanwhile I am high plat with tank and DPS. You can carry as support but it's much harder, as one bad DPS or tank has much higher impact while a main healer can make up for a bad support somewhat. Once you get to gold it should get easier, ironically, because in Silver you're playing with crappy Bronze players and 50/50 they're gonna end up on your team.
you can easilly get play of the game and carry your team as moyra and still heal tons and tons if you play aggressively things usually work out for me it could be different for PC playest but for me on ps4 it almost always work
Ive found damage orb to be much better than heal orb. Of course I still use heal orb when necessary, but I've found damage orb to be more reliable and impactful
I'll take a video on kiriko everyone says I'm good with her but I always feel like I don't play her good enough or I could play her better I don't feel like she heals alot due to that slight nerf in healing maybe I'm just not the best with headshots and if I was more accurate I could utilize her better
You have probably already done this since I’m watching this 3 weeks after you made it but please do zen. I play Moira as my main but, if the other support chooses a main healer then I will choose zen. I feel like I’m pretty good with both of them. I’ve been in bronze support since I started playing on ow1. Although I feel like my stats, timing with abilities, and general knowledge of when to do what in order for my team to win is greatly under appreciated in my ranking. I play with my friend who is gold DPS so I’m playing against people who are gold and still outsmart them with my play style. Helppp!!!!
Just started as Moria, worse thing for me is that high mobility hero’s expect me to chase them like a puppy healing them instead of the tank so I just carry n okay aggressive
I just started playing oversatch and pick support to help team but kept getting abandonned by the tank. Maining Moira is almost the only way to survive and I can actually survive fron tank's wrong move and go back to heal others

Thanks for the video I play Moira a lot and the helpful insight/tips you gave I'm gonna try to keep them in mind and hopefully I can be even better at Moira!
im sorry i cant watch this video without laughing
I started playing this game like 2 hrs ago, this video was way too advanced for me to fully understand but still helped out a lot. Thank you so much, earned yourself a subscriber!
Ay I appreciate you supporting !! Let me know in the future how you’re enjoying the game.
It’s worth noting on the “protractor” comment that predicting bounce angle is often from experience. JR players also will tell you how Blizz calculates the angle is not consistent depending on the map and even the object.
Ahh interesting, good point! Knowing the maps is definitely important
Moiras utility is not healing. She is a distraction, an opportunist and most importantly she has the best survivability of any support.
I’d say kiri is better at surviving in most situations. And better overall
@@necrosis6037The argument can be made but with her healing orb that when placed properly can bounce around her for up to 5 seconds and ability to disappear in plain sight paired with her lesser cooldown times makes Moira very difficult to kill.
@@AFLTragic most dive characters can burst through the healing with decent aim or boop her away from her orb and attack her
@@AFLTragic kiri doesn’t have much sustain, but she has immortality, cleanse, and she’s much better at doing damage and can burst you down
heal orb is a lot easier to get value out of bc you can more easily get the orb to bounce back to where you are than to linger where the enemy is. think dmg orb is better used as pre fight resource gathering, unless you know a thing or two about lineups
Lmao I can’t listen to the start of this video without breaking!
No one’s talking about how many times this man has said Suckeez? 😭😭☠️
There are 2 main problems with moira, 1 at lower ranks, 1 at higher:
1- Lower moiras full diving at wrong times and killing herselfs. (that's on them, to learn the game)
2-The lack of free value.
what do i mean by free value? lets look at suzo.
This fact makes less pickable, since you also need to be flexible and Mastering a hero is like being otp.
that orb at 1:38 lol
Good video! sincerely, Plat level Moira main trying to break into diamond
Ay thank you bro! Appreciate you watching and the comment !
I would like to see a video about Juno. I see some people do a lot of damage & healing with her. Sometimes people only do a lot of healing and almost no damage. What’s the difference between these game plays?
Moira has been my main since she entered OW1. Bitch is fun as hell
Ayy love to see it. I one tricked her for a long time too
same i have like 110 hrs on her 😭
Really helpful ty~!
Can you continue this series of OW hero guides?
Yeah! Who should I go over next?
I'd love to see your thoughts on Moira now with the season 9 changes!
Excuse my ignorance but how do you switch between healing and damage orbs?
depending on the platform you play on it differs on controls, but for pc one orb would be left click, the other right click. I can only assume for console maybe with the triggers?
Co having infinite piercing is really where its utility is for being an ult
taking notes rn
Once you get to gold it should get easier, ironically, because in Silver you're playing with crappy Bronze players and 50/50 they're gonna end up on your team.
you can easilly get play of the game and carry your team as moyra and still heal tons and tons if you play aggressively things usually work out for me it could be different for PC playest but for me on ps4 it almost always work
I always priorities the juno or the mercy for… reasons
Here before the nerf😈
Lowkey I think they should revert the gaining charge off damage orbs..
This only works as long as there is no Sombra in enemy team
rip to fade superiority in season 5 😭
Frrrrrr
I Think Im The Only Person Who Was Still Listening After He Said "suck prioritization"
Ive found damage orb to be much better than heal orb. Of course I still use heal orb when necessary, but I've found damage orb to be more reliable and impactful
Idk if you've done him already but I'd like to see what you have to say about Zen
I touched on him in my “master support” guide! Will make a more detailed video soon.
Usually put up good to great stats, but always loose. How can I improve
Moira gets heals by doing what?! Ayo?!
I'll take a video on kiriko everyone says I'm good with her but I always feel like I don't play her good enough or I could play her better I don't feel like she heals alot due to that slight nerf in healing maybe I'm just not the best with headshots and if I was more accurate I could utilize her better
In the works!
Thanks !
i one tricked moira from placements to plat support xD idc about the hate i love her
You have probably already done this since I’m watching this 3 weeks after you made it but please do zen. Helppp!!!!
Quick topping your what?
great video quality
3 hours of moira game time and still trying to find my play with her
Just started as Moria, worse thing for me is that high mobility hero’s expect me to chase them like a puppy healing them instead of the tank so I just carry n okay aggressive
Nothing feels worse then throwing an orb up a ledge somewhere to a critical genii and he dashes away 🤣
@@luekfr but bro he’s emptying “heal me, heal me” then poof like bro I’m not using my ability just to get to ya
went from bronze 5 to silver 1 this season with mostly just moira so yeah she can carry fo sho
Fo sho fo sho, thanks for watching !!
suck the squishes took me outttttt
After moira got the lilith skin i started maining her. she a bad bitchhhh
I just started playing oversatch and pick support to help team but kept getting abandonned by the tank. Maining Moira is almost the only way to survive and I can actually survive fron tank's wrong move and go back to heal others
If I have a very dysfunctional team moira is always one of my go to’s
@@luekfr Her mobility and orb for self healing is so good 😔
Ima make it to the top 500 fast... Not just bc of this video manny other things make it this way...
do a video on mercy!!!
junkrat next
This could be done.. was my most played damage hero on console back in ow1 !
How do I suck the right targets
Orisa is easily the most hated hero
im unranked and yes hjaha im one of those who try so suck life from rhine shields and get nothing out of it lol thats why im here i want to know how to play her
Loved the video, got an instant sub from me
Ay bro I appreciate it! Thankyou
Suc then jiel, got it
Tank dies at the first fight, Tank blames the player for playing moira. smh.
Fr 🤣
Bruh I beat ana 1v1 almost everytime even when she has a nade. Wen she has a sleep that's a different story
1v1ing characters like Ana will work for a some time but eventually majority of players will be able to out duel you, especially if they have utility like nade
Lower rank I’d always dive Ana and wreck, higher rank Ana keep surprising me tho, sometimes I really gotta sweat cuz they almost never miss the sleep
Well done sir. Loved the too the point, points. And you didn't start the video with the most dreaded phrase on youtube, "Hey Guys". Fuck "Hey Guys"....
Bap next
Stop saying suck bro 😂
ay it’s what she do
and i keep running out of healing it sucks how
Balancing your meter is a massive part of mastering moira. You got this bro 💯
