    I saw this in person from less than 100 yards away while in the lineup. I’ve seen hundreds of dolphins over the years. I very clearly saw a seal get whipped through the air by a shark. My son is writing a paper on sharks and stumbled on this clip and instantly recognized it from when I showed it to him and sent to Surfline.

      @@LucieSalat Haha nice, glad you'd have my back if that was me heading out !! He probably thought it was a dolphin. Seen a lot of random vids where pp claim shark but it's a dolphin, but kind of trust Surfline on this one but then again I'd like to enlarge it on the TV screen and really check it out.😁🤙 have a great weekend✌

      @@vantheman3857 yes it's hard to pick on this one, I might think its a dolphin too. I haven't seen any dolphins and seals hanging out together though. Sharks rarely breach and as much as we all prefer not to think about it, they are out there, usually unseen. I love all of the ocean so much but would prefer not to see one of these dudes in the flesh! Have a great Sunday, it's bedtime here in Western Australia, Monday in the morning. Peace my friend 🐬🏄🌞 may we all see many dolphins!!

    After reading skeptic’s comments and replaying over and squinting, I am uncertain. It is hard to see details of objects. The burst of speed from the first splash to reach the jump spot and the trajectory seems like an attack on what seems to be a seal. I wish they would have shown a longer clip to see activity before and after of area because if dolphins they would likely reappear but I would hope there’s nothing hence the edit for our benefit. Surfline, if you’re reporting facts please corroborate your claims as this video raises a lot of questions. If I don’t see an answer, I will quit my subscription

      My son just showed me this video posted here. I was the only person in the water next to this just outside of the frame when it happened. I found it on the cam and posted on my Instagram and tagged Surfline. They posted on their Instagram and then took it down about an hr later. I saw it in person. The 25th st cam also had the breech from a different direction. Although it is grainy you can clearly see the legs of the seal as it is thrown sideways in the air. I didn’t believe it when I saw it, until I went home and confirmed.

    Hmmm. Looks a bit like dolphins roughhousing. However, there were numerous confirmed sightings in Del Mar this summer. Better think twice about paddling out at 15th ;)

    • @MustardTiger95
      @MustardTiger95 5 лет назад

      It's dolphins without a doubt. Clear shot of a horizontal fluke that's equal length on each side of the peduncle... Plus, this is pure dolphin behavior - like you said: roughhousing.
      But sharks are more sensational = more web traffic
