As a Frenchman, I can confirm that parades are basically a hibernating state for the French Legion. When they are awake, they are busy putting the enemy to permanent sleep.

For those who dont know. French foreign legion recruits from all over the world. If you serve 15 years or get wounded in battle, you are given french citizenship.
In fact no, you can have the French citizenship after youre first contract ( 5Years), and after being wounded in operation, not all the time but if the Legionnaire request that
service guarantees citizenship?

This is a request from the buried Legionnaire according to his record of service, or offered directly by the Legion as a reward. The legionnaire has every right to refuse. The French contingent is from the very famous French Foreign Legion, wearing the "white képi", symbol of the Legion. The Legion is the heir of foreign swiss regiments of the French kings and was created in 1831 by king Louis-Philippe.
Today Legion belongs to the Army and comprises 9000 troops coming from 150 nations, serving France with Honor and Fidelity. Officers are almost all French while NCOs come from the ranks.
The Foreign Legion is not a special force, but an elite assault force. It displays 4 infantry regiments (one parachute), 2 combat engineers regiments, one light cavalry regiment and several organic overseas detachments.
Anyone can candidate for the Legion but the selection rate is probably one of the highest in the world for a conventional force, with around 9 candidates for one "seat".
Still cannot do a decent march lmao. Even school children do better.
