I do like how John stood up for Sara and tried to protect her, not wanting her to have to put herself through something painful.

This scene was good! This kind of angst between friends is not enjoyable at all, though it's necessary. The acting in this scene is excellent.

John was so right, Laszlo: "You ARE about as subtle as a blowtorch!"

"Well, that was nicely handled." Oh, very efficient way of showing your colleagues and patients the proper way of 'not letting your emotions cloud your judgement', genius!

Classic deflection. He’s discomfited because Mary showed up (before the clip) and he wants the focus on their emotional upset rather than his own. Master of passive aggression.

Man, why doesn't he confront his own feelings then? Practice what you preach, DOCTOR!!!

I can see how that might be but he makes a very good argument. This murderer is committing his murders out of a personal feeling and yearning. If that can be understood then the murderers identity can be discovered.

What Laszlo says is true, but he's being too brutally blunt here. John is the sensitive one and doesn't even want to try to wrap his head around the level of darkness they're dealing with, and I don't blame him! I can relate to his anger, especially when Laszlo begins talking about empathy! Yet, Laszlo must be onto something about why this butcher is so sickly driven to commit such unthinkable murders. However, Laszlo's approach was rather cold. It most certainly was NOT the wisest way to urge his friends to strive harder in their efforts. I know that I would feel offended if I was in John or Sara's shoes. It's all in the approach, how people receive what you say. Laszlo spoke the truth, but his manner was very detached!

His Way Services Blog especially since this was a new and unfamiliar subject, they don't know that his questions and his use of the word empathy is quite important and relevant, all they know that it is impolite, cruel and vulgar. Plus, it is quite hypocritical that he was talking about facing oneself when we all know he's the one who probably has the biggest issue.

It's all in the approach. How you say something often says more than what you are trying to actually say.

What a jerk here. It was as if he expected Sara to give a straight answer right there.
