    I love how you talk about weather when you live in Malta, I live in London try play regular tennis here and there are not that many indoor courts that are accessible let alone affordable.
    I like your story about falling in love with the game again, I played when I was a small kid and in high school than stopped for 15 years and took it up again.
    Really good video with some great tips I will certainly consider them!

    I have a similar story, started around 13 y/o but never with a coach. That and few hitting partners make me drop it after 2/3 years. I'm 24 now and I'm getting back to it with my brother. Always loved the game, and now I am a tennis nerd. Cheers! From Argentina 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷

    These are very good tips, Jonas. One tip extra I feel is very important: learn to analyze by yourself what you did wrong with any shot you hit that wasn't good. Unfortunately, people who take lessons often rely on the coach to tell them what needs correcting. None of the coaches I've had over the years encouraged self analysis of strokes. But when you're playing a match you are on your own and can't rely on a coach to guide you. Likewise when you're practicing without a coach. And, when you are having a coaching session, write down all the pointers given to you; don't rely on your memory because you'll miss a lot of material in a coaching session.

    I found your video playing indoors with an ATP level player testing Radical Pro I think, studying the ATP player particularly his open stance forehand so simple so consistent and powerful I have been trying to copy that simple action. I am left handed but serve right handed as I throw right handed. My serve was my weak part of my game now from ongoing study and practice it is one of my strongest shots. I now want to develop a right handed smash. From my study and practice of golf and now tennis my tip would be work most on your weaknesses that is the quickest way to improve and enjoy the game more. Thanks

    Great tips. This video is a great guide to find fulfillment in the process. I think a lot of amatuer players need to set goals for themselves and use the goals to really achieve somthing. I feel everyone needs to apply goal setting to at least one main hobby. It can bring a deep sense of joy in achievement and a chance to try again in failure. Tennis is a perfect game of interest and depth to develop yourself in. I really love it! Thank you for your tips!

      I'm 51 and learned a few things about keeping my body going.
      Active warm ups for 10-20 minutes before your match. Walk around the court, move your body round to wake it up, get your joints activated with easy movements. Focus on deep clear breathing while you do this.
      When you hit with your opponent keep the ball steady and relaxed. This helps you relax your mind. While doing this study how they hit, serves, forehand, backhand, movement, net play, and how they react to various spins. Also pay attention to how the courts surface reacts to various spins.
      It's better to hit first serves at 70% power and get 3 out of 4 in opposed to going for too much. Save a few big bombs for 40/15 or 40/0.
      Accept that you are going to make mistakes. Never carry anger around when you play. You will lose.
      From beginners to the GOATS, we have have stronger forehands. Work shots to their backhand. That doesn't mean hit every shot there. That means open them up so they expose their backhand.
      Play high percentage tennis. There is no need to hit massive winners that are a few centimeters above the net, go for a few for fun though.
      Tell yourself, "I am not moving my feet enough." The majority of recreational players stand flat footed, watch their shot while not moving, stand too tall, and react at the last minute to hit the ball. Tennis really is a legs sport where we happen to hold a racquet. Watch how Jonas moves in this video, and never stop moving until that match is over.

      I think this is the same for many of us, I worked with a mental tennis coach for a while and that helped. There are some videos about the topic already, but I think it’s worth diving into again

    • @andrewfinkelsteintennis1915
      @andrewfinkelsteintennis1915 3 года назад +1

      Ben, Jonas is absolutely right,it's a very common issue. A lovely rhythmical practice doesn't prepare you for the shanks, angles and off pace shots that occur in a match, and it can be hard to know when to defend and attack. Then you have the potential issue of nerves scrambling your brain. I reckon my level drops 50% in a match,that's how bad it is. The only solution is to keep playing points. You will improve.

    • @BenjagoBenjago
      @BenjagoBenjago 3 года назад +1

      Yep a video on it would be great! I’m going to read a couple of books on the mental side of tennis that could help. The common theme iv heard from most people is to just keep playing more and more tournaments and you will end up narrowing that gap between training and match day.

  • @Tinyciwei

    I found the speed meter in the Swing Vision is not very accurate. I guess the accuracy may be related to the camera position and angle.

    • @Tinyciwei
      @Tinyciwei 3 года назад

      @@smcrz2022 That is what I assumed. But I would not fully trust the meter from the app. For example, the serve at 6:48 is definitely faster than the speed it calculated. Maybe a better (or optimal) angel of the camera is required to get better result. It is also interesting that the speed pops out immediately after the contact of the ball. I guess the app may do the calculation first during the processing.

    • @Tennisnerd
      @Tennisnerd  3 года назад

      Yeah, they currently measure the average speed of the ball, not like a radar gun. But they're working on that. I will post more about the app soon.
