I reckon we need a reshuffle. Palmer,an he just don't want to work for sustained periods of time at all. I'm thinking he plays as a striker, put him in front of goal he lights up, so he should be looking at playing there now and Asante can battle for CAM position, apparently it's Asante's best position, couple other teams fans say he is a beast in CAM. So I see that as a good switch up. I'm not going to get in at Palmer anymore because I see him as a striker now not a midfielder. How we seem to set up and try to flow with our play, the CAM is the hardest worker, he has to be or we got holes in the middle. The two holding midfielders need to sit naturally 10 yards higher than they do now. We can afford a little space between the defence and midfield to a point, all the CBs are capable ball players and like to play on the front foot so actively looking to step up to close the gap should come easy enough to them. The aim is to close the gaping hole in the middle. Because we do look very obvious with how we want to attack. But having said all that robins is trying something he thinks is the best way for us to head forward and it will take a bit of time to do it week in week out competitively. If the two holding midfielders can step up and close the gap to JR, obviously one can hold off a little and play a high anchor role to counter any breaks, that will solve the problem i think. It will cut the long balls out and enable us to play our beautiful passing football and most of all, plug that hole in the middle thats appeared out of nowhere. A 5-10 yard step up will save some much energy on pressing, bring everyone tighter together which in turn presents more options when on the ball and most importantly less energy used when a player is trying to make themselves available for the ball. If you not in position properly, no matter who is at fault tactics or player or understanding, your going to be working a hell of a lot hard than you should be. That's my view on the hole in the middle for us right now. The defence, ignoring any errors, I like what they are trying to do, I expect them to keep doing it. But they must, draw a voluntary line about 10-15yds in front of the 18yd box and say, 'we do not go further back than this mark unless we have no choice but to do so. Those 10-15yds are the gk dovin's now and should not be voluntarily encroached on. Haji and sakamoto need to mix it up a little, start coming inside a bit turn the lone striker in to 3 strikers to unsettled the defence a bit, easily worked on. 100% mate. We rely on Sheaf too much as the anchor, and when he’s out, we have nobody to drive and pass. Torp is not a CDM, and Eccles is lost without Sheaf. 🤷♂️
