    Thats song is esentialy a female empowerment in pure form. Not only Maria rules with her vocals. She also are very clever with the lyrics with that "All the tears I've bled" and the fact that she reclames the word wh0re itself by turning it into anogram of "Women Honoring One another Rising Eternally" as explained.

    Maria Brink is awesome. Formed in 2005 by her and guitarist Chris Howarth. From their 4th album ,Blood in 2012. This is the record that their sound changed somewhat by adding electronic and industrial to the alt meatal/rock/metalcore/gothic they already had. Plenty to choose from next, with 7 albums and a new EP to date. Try Big Bad Wolf, Sick Like Me, Black Wedding feat Rob Halford, The In-Between, Blood, Adrenalize, and morre.

    • @fairplayracingleaguege
      @fairplayracingleaguege Год назад +3

      I know what you mean.
      IMO ITM never sounds the same from album to album.
      Their first record was more metalcore, the second one was already less heavy or more experimental until their third album.
      With blood and and black widow it was definitely more industrial rock/metal, which is my personal favorite style from this band.
      Somehow the newst ones aren't my favorites anymore.
      Even the newest EP wgich is a great idea to give it a "stranger things" 80s vibe isn't that good as I personally expected it.
      Some parts doesn't really match together unfortunately.
      Maybe it just takes more time to listen to ...

    Kyle is so right about seeing them live. I saw ITM when they were touring with Slipknot. Amazing show!! From reading articles, Maria believes that performers should put on a great visual show that goes along with great music.
    Some of my favorites are Big Bad Wolf, Blood, Sick Like Me, The Fighter, Roots, The In-between, and Gun Show (which is a good work out song IMO.)

    They have SOOOO many great songs
    I've always said Maria Brink is like Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and Lady Gaga had a love-child and nursed it with Red Bull.
    IMO she's the most badassest of all the metal female leads.
    Their song "The Fighter" is such a soulful powerful song!

    • @SnWazzoo
      @SnWazzoo 2 месяца назад

      Yes exactly, I was definitely leaning more towards Marilyn Manson but Yes all of those work.

  • @bottomofastairwell
    @bottomofastairwell Год назад +53

    1. She is INCREDIBLE live. That wasn't a concert, it was a whole ass theater production, compete with dancers, costume changes, a set, the whole gig. It's amazing.
    2. As a woman who lives tick, which is typically a very make dominated space, Maria rocks. She's got some incredible vocal range. But even better, she takes all the criticism that gets leveled against her and uses it to push herself further, to make more music. And I love that.
    Song those lines, they're another song Sex Metal Barbie, and the entire song is written from the negative convents and hate she's gotten online. Like she literally took all those phrases and stuff and made them into a song. Freaking love it.
    And Whore especially will always have a special place in my heart, period. Because its just so empowering. "You love me for everything you hate me for" And it's not something you can truly understand unless you're a woman. Unless you've lived with the double edged sword of being a woman your whole life. Where you're expected to be this pure, perfect virgin but somehow also a sexual goddess at the same time and you're hated for being either and both. Where if you talk to more than one guy you're a whore, but somehow if you DON'T want to talk to that one guy then suddenly you're also a whore and a stuck up bitch.
    Ya'll have no idea. But all of her music is like that, where it takes all that shit society throws at her and at women in general and turns it into banging music.
    Fun facts, when she auditioned for the band, they originally passed her over BECAUSE she was a woman and they didn't think that would be successful. But man did she prove them wrong.
    For further listening, I highly recommend Roots. A song about overcoming difficulty and being stronger for it, Sex Metal Barbie, and then for something really theatrical that really show cases her vocal range and abilities (you gotta watch the video too) The In Between.
    If you're at all curious too, I encourage you to look into her history and life story, because damn, the woman has been through some shit. And she's come out on top through all of it. Honestly, she's pretty amazing

There were 4 men with dreads playing the instruments on stages for about a minute build-up before the lead singer (Maria) came on stage. Almost noo ne had heard of them at the time so no one was expecting at a rock concert with 4 grizzly man on stage for all the sudden Maria come running onto the stage in a short baby blue dress with long blonde hair doing the Maria scream going so goood and long I could see the veins in her neck from the crowd. I had a friend with me right next to me, we couldn't hear each other so I tapped him on the shoulder and help up my arm to show every hair standing up. He smiled, laughed, and held his arm up to show me the same dam thing. I get chills today thinking about it....

    After opening for The Foo Fighters, Guns and Roses this year, these 3 amazing sisters from Mexico have recently finished a tour with Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless.
    The Warning are 3 sisters who are only 23, 20, and 17. Write their own songs, play their own instruments, and rock like no other.
    Please give Evolve, Choke a reaction, and if you would like to see the drummer take lead vocals whilst simultaneously playing drums Dust to Dust is a great song for this showcase. These girls are on the verge of world domination. You will regret going down this rabbit hole of 40+ original songs. Kyle, they were even invited by Metallica to do their own version of Enter sandman, which they totally nailed it due to the fact they had done a cover of the same song aged 9, 12 and 14 in 2014 to which James even commented on. That video currently has over 24M views and is worth checking out, too. Cheers, lads.🤟

    Back when the band started out Maria Brink actually had a fairly usual emo/metalcore-ish vocal style. She only really came into her own sound during their later albums, most notably starting with "Blood." It's also sometimes speculated that her unique sound is at least partly caused by vocal damage she may have sustained during their early years, back when she used to scream a lot more.
    I hope you guys check out more from them. Their music is highly varied and in my opinion always brings a much needed breath of fresh air to the world of metal music. My recommendation for next song would be the music video for "The In-Between," as it's an experience, and also quite the contrast from this song.
