Liam is excellent, no complaints. Kevin Lund has a powerful voice, he just exaggerates trying to make it evil. But I think he pulled off his final episode really well.
I agree and I know Nephrite was a bad person but risked his life to save Naru. That’s the most selfless thing a villain can do in animes. Also, that Naru was the reason why he went rogue from the Dark Kingdom.
And in this death, I have to admit that... Even when Nephrite lied to Naru about his intentions, he still had genuine feelings towards her, and gave his life to protect her.

I feel like Lund’s voice when he’s pretending to be his alter ego would’ve suited the character better. It’s just bizarre that the only one of the Dark Kingdom to be redeemed sounds like a monster of the week half the time (that being said, Lund’s evil laugh was awesome)
If I had watched the original dub then I might have fallen in love with Kevin Lund’s Nephrite. But I’m watching the Viz dub right now and holy heck Liam O’Brien’s voice just does things to my heart. I could listen to him forever.
Liam did a better job with the character but Kevin's Neflite sounded so awkward and adorkable that it won my heart over more. The fact that such a hokey character met such a grisly end makes the chocolate parfait scene actually really upsetting too. There's such a sudden tonal dissonance between the conversation with Molly and his death.
Kevin’s voice is the one I fell in love with; possibly my bias since I grew up with 90’s sailor moon lol. Sure, his acting was raspy and very deep but to me it added to Nephrites’ character and is one of the many voices that I will always remember.
Love Katsuji Mori and Liam O'Brien. I think Kevin Lund, as far as I love Nephrite, was a bit too deep and didn't show the (would it be slightly arrogant, somewhat lone wolf) personality I got from Katsuji's take. Liam O'Brien i know best as Gaara, but he actually takes care not to slip characters much, has a bit of nuance in his voices I like. I never got to Crystal yet, but from what I heard of Kosuke, I like him too
I really liked all of the voices for nephrite,especially the one from the 90's dub version of sailor moon Kevin lund did a great job as nephrite and Liam does a great job as nephrite too in the viz dub version of sailor moon.

I like all of them to be honest..admittedly I wasn't used to Kevin Lund's voice when I was younger (except for when he talked as Masato-san/Maxfield), but as I got used to it, it grew on me and I think because the character CAN come across as gruff at times, it does fit the personality to an extent..and the demonic laugh was so hilarious..I found myself laughing right along with it..I LOVE Liam, though.he was so sexy..would have chosen Lex Lang but both are awesome

Liam is a great voice actor in general, but Kevin actually made it sound like Neflite was dying... there's a desperate raspiness to his voice that sounds like he really IS dying that Liam doesn't have, and the dub music actually helps a lot as well. There's a couple other parts not in this video where he's injured and Kevin does this really convincing pained wheeze that just sounds like he's in incredible pain, and I was really affected by that as a kid

The First Dub was done in Two Canadian Studios (DiC for Seasons 1-2 and Cloverway for Seasons 3-4) while a More Recent Uncensored dub was done by Viz Media (dubbing all 5 Seasons and Films).
Kevin Lund's Nephrite has such a strong place in my heart that it's difficult for others to replace it, even if I didn't grow up with Sailor Moon but only watched the DiC dub of the first season three years ago. It was the only season I didn't first watch in Japanese. IMHO the 90s' Nephrite is the best guy in Sailor Moon. 🥰💗😻 Although Kevin Lund's Nephrite is often ridiculed for the raspy and at times over-the-top delivery, I think he really does have nuance. He manages to sound menacing but also businessmanlike, seductive and in the last episode of his arc, even tender.
God, oh god is Kevin Lund horrible for Nephrite. I feel like nephrite is cool and calm unlike the other four generals. Not only that but his purposefully handsome look better matches his new Viz voice.
As a person that has heard the Viz dub of Nephrite before the DIC dub, Scott McNeil or Michael McConnohie could've worked better. Edit: We can all agree on this. Since Nephrite is a bad guy, he could've sounded more evil. Just because you can make a dub more like the original doesn't mean you can't top it. This also goes to why I think Crispin Freeman, Jamieson Price, Clancy Brown, or Richard Epcar could've voiced Demand. Even so, Liam still did a good job voicing Nephrite..

Agreed. Liam O'Brien could have definitely done a more overtly menacing voice, but for some reason, he was directed to use the tone he did. It makes sense in Crystal, but not for the classic anime.

God, oh god is Kevin Lund horrible for Nephrite. I feel like nephrite is cool and calm unlike the other four generals. Not only that but his purposefully handsome look better matches his new Viz voice.

As a person that has heard the Viz dub of Nephrite before the DIC dub, Scott McNeil or Michael McConnohie could've worked better.
Edit: We can all agree on this. Since Nephrite is a bad guy, he could've sounded more evil. Just because you can make a dub more like the original doesn't mean you can't top it. This also goes to why I think Crispin Freeman, Jamieson Price, Clancy Brown, or Richard Epcar could've voiced Demand. Even so, Liam still did a good job voicing Nephrite..

It seems like half like Kevin Lund with the other half preferring Liam O’Brien. I guess I’ll always prefer Kevin’s take on Nephrite since he gave the character more personality.

Agreed. Liam O'Brien could have definitely done a more overtly menacing voice, but for some reason, he was directed to use the tone he did. It makes sense in Crystal, but not for the classic anime.

Really? Liam's voice captures Nephrite's personality perfectly...Kevin's voice is exaggerated and cheesy.
Liam O'Brien's divorce came afterwards. It's more depressing seeing how his wife left him makes it harder to watch.
Why? Why is it harsher in hindsight that he got divorced? Stop using phrases you learned on tv tropes.
ch2010ize what I was trying to say is that every time married voice actors/actresses pair us without their significant other could end their marriages and their lead into divorces. I am worried about Johnny Yong Bosch getting a divorce along with Yuri Lowenthal. It just makes it harder to watch since Mary Mcglynn just got her divorce in 2012
Grant Awa Nope Liam O’Brien is still married from what I have read online to Amy Kincaid (the voice of Shirley from Code Geass) and they have two kids.
