Do you have a link to the engineers tray? I tried finding something like that with a holder for the calipers, but the first hundred or so models didn’t turn up anything.
I know this was just a toy experiment, but the distance from the lens to the sensor is larger when you put it in an slr lens cap like that than when it's in that disposable camera body, which is why it's in focus for close objects but not far objects. If you had one of the new mirrorless cameras with a shorter flange distance it might be closer to the right distance so you could get better depth of field. They used wide angle lenses on those disposables so that people who weren't pro photographers had a decent chance of getting everything into the frame that they wanted, without chopping heads, and so that everything from a few feet away to infinity would be in focus. You could try to inset it into the body a bit to get better focus. It shouldn't take much. Even a few millimeters back would probably make it a lot more useful. Just be careful that you don't put it far enough in that it'll interfere with the mirror if your camera is a true slr. I used to shoot professionally. These days I take a lot of photos with old Soviet lenses adapted to fit my Nikon digital slr, and it's brought the fun back into it for me. I think that's one of the most fun things about digital photography, the ability to experiment with lenses that were intended for completely different purposes and see the results immediately. Have fun! If you do anything more with it I'd love to see an update video.
Woah, thats really cool! LOVE that barn photo!
Thanks Nathan! Much appreciated 👍
You certainly come up with some unique idea's.
Thanks Orrin! 👍
fun video, what about 3d printing a cap with a hole, press in a threaded set for the lens, that way its adjustable.
Thanks! Oh that is a great idea!
great idea. how can I get a tool kit like yours?
Thanks! I have a video about that tool kit here: ruclips.net/video/6R0LHBBwRuY/видео.htmlsi=0mOU6tBaUXEdP8wC. Cheers👍
Love it
Thank you!

Yes I found it. Here you go: makerworld.com/models/631607
@@Simplelittlelife thank you from the desert in Southern California!
You’re welcome👍

The EOS R he used is a mirrorless camera, not a DSLR
@KoenKooi oh, well then no problem moving that lens back to get better focus.
I've made a pinhole camera before.
Sweet! I’ve never tried one but they do look really cool.
What was that "easy-peasy"? I listened several times but I couldn't make it out.
easy peasy pumpkin sneezy. I’m not sure where that came from, it just came out. 👍
@@Simplelittlelife Ha! I can hear it perfectly now you've told me what it is. 😆
Here in the UK it's "easy-peasy lemon squeezy".
Totally messing with this idea! I have a bunch of micro, macro, and telescope objectives lying around too… hmmm
Right on!👍
I really like your content but I do wish you'd make a knife once in awhile. Just saying
