I bought a used 1436 Alumacraft a couple months ago. It easily holds two people and a lot of gear (ice chest, bait bucket, trolling motor battery, etc.). It's also nice and stable, just like you show. What's NOT stable are the 1436 boats that have been modified with full length decks raised almost to the gunnels. Even standing on the benches can be a little dicey. This is something to keep in mind, because anyone looking for a boat they can convert to a "bass boat" should really consider something wider. Other than that, the 1436 is the perfect way to get out on the water and do some serious fishing!
Adam K318 No problem if you're cruising around...we were 2 adults , 2 kids and my 100lbs rottweiler cruising around with a Johnson 7.5hp...the motor wasn't enough to make us plane thought...
Reloaded Rick ended up getting a 1236 boat. Do not know the brand tho.(person I bought it from bought it from another dude and he never knew the brand) anyway works great! Me and my friend go fishing while my little brother watches. Great lil boat
How does it handle when you got multiple boats ripping round the waters your fishing? Yet to find a stability review in normal conditions not perfect conditions
Alright bro- just got a 1432 sears gamefisher - I know this isn't ideal for stability and I don't intend on putting a deck on it just those restaurant rubber mats on the floor, and I'm running a 30# motor in the back with wire extention to the middle for 2 group 27 battery's in minn kota battery boxes, also I mounted an extra motor on the bow so I have an extra 30# motor in reserve in case something breaks with my first motor I can swap to the transom while on the water. Also I got a Tiller extention with u bolt articulation so I can drive from the middle seat -I guess my question is with this setup do you have any tips for how to distribute the weight for maximum stability? Btw I'm a rather hefty fella weighing in at 250# and I'd like to install a Wise seat clamped to the bench with straps, will this make me sit too high? It's a pivot seat arrangement that puts me about 3" higher than the bench height. I'm mostly going to be sitting and jigging off the bottom for trout. Thanks for taking your time to think about this with me buddy!
Great idea on having a backup trolling motor, I had one go out on me in the middle of the lake one time, had to paddle all the way back! As far as positioning, I'd definitely try and sit in the middle, I think that will fish great with the batteries on the middle of the boat! Tight lines my friend!
IT IS! i have a 1436 with a 16 horse mud motor and a bowfishing deck and its more stable than my 1642! i dont know how but i think the 1436's are perfect for two people! and great video man, love the content!
Hi there, did you experience any quality issues with the Alumacraft? I want a good jon boat, but only two brands are sold here in Sweden. Alumacraft and Topper.
Hard to see in the video, but it looks like you have your swivel seats on those jon boat "seat clamps", with a rachet strap to hold em on. How well does that work? Looking to get a couple of those for my Tracker 1036
How's the "fishability" with 2 dudes? I'm looking for a 14ft boat, but not sure if I should just grab a 1436 now as they're fairly cheap (500-600 where I'm at for new "scratched" models) or wait for a 1448. Probably only have two on it at a time maybe 5-10% of the time, and I will be putting a deck on it. keeping it simple, and figured less than 100lbs total weight added, going DIY Lithium Phosphate battery for reduced battery weight with higher Ah available, saves about 60-70% on battery weight.
What's up bro that's awesome video man I got a 20 horse four stroke on mine I just got it you think it's still stable then having a trolling motor like you have ?????
@@BentRodBassin main reason I’m not looking into a kayak I would if I was single with no kids but I got two boys 6 and 5 and they are gonna wanna go with me and so does my spouse
When I was younger, I never had an issue with any boat. I could easily stand in canoes with no problems. However, once I hit 60 my balance has changed dramatically from my youth. I myself have a 1436 which I find very tippy when I get in and step onto my seat. I think age absolutely has an effect on stability, at least for me. I hate to admit that but for me, it’s a fact.🫤
The 14ft Jon Boat is pretty stable for such a light boat, perfect for getting out on the water!

Think they can hold 3 people?
Maybe two people and a small child, it would be a tight fit.
@@akatzzki Not if you're fishing. The gear takes up a lot of room, and it's difficult even for two people to move around the boat as needed.

Bent Rod Bassin, thanks for the vid, nicely done!

Awesome! I’ve been thinking about one of these, thanks for the vid!
Sounds good! It's a great little boat.

Is it a good river boat? Do you think a 2013 Nissan Murano would pull that one or the 1648?? Thank you
That would work out great! I pulled with a 2013 Mazda CX-7 and it was perfect!

Haven't had any issues at all, it's a good solid boat 👍
I have the same boat. Good quality and I love it.
Stay away from topper rivet issues
Alumacraft all Good
What does the 1436 stand for. I know the 14 is the length. Not sure about 36
36" width of the bottom of the boat 👍
Nice boat!!!

I use the seat clamps with a strap looped around them from the bottom under the bunks, keeps them nice a tight. Used 2 per seat 👍
Bent Rod Bassin right on, thanks for the reply
How hard was seat installation
Very easy, used straps to keep them in place.

1448 for sure! Only one of us can stand, or the other guy gets a little tipsy.
Munky332,a 1442 is very stable for two guys, too
It sure is.
Add a 9.9hp you'll go awesome
Any recommendation on that 9.9
Recommendations
Got the 15hp, and it scoots!!!
How long does the battery last I know u have 2 is that for balance or do you need the second for lites ext.
One works perfectly fine for everything, depending on how much your on the motor, and speed I'd estimate about all day on a full charge.
do you load the 1436 in a truck bed?
I use a Karavan trailer.
Awesome 👍
How wide is it?
36"

I think so! Man that's awesome, I bet the 20hp flys!!!
I fish primarily from a kayak but this would be a nice option for me if I want to take out my wife, buddy or my kids
Agree, it's nice to toss the gear in the boat and hit the water!
@@BentRodBassin main reason I’m not looking into a kayak I would if I was single with no kids but I got two boys 6 and 5 and they are gonna wanna go with me and so does my spouse
How strong of a trolling motor would u recommend?
I'd get the 55lb, helps move the boat a bit better in wind and weight.
Bent Rod Bassin thx
