I remember hearing this gig on the web somewhere about 15 years ago.
    Lovely mastering job!
Sounds far better than I remember the old recording I’d heard.
Mojorisen74, thank you for this and all the others.

Of all the bands I enjoyed back in the 70’s.!! There was something special about Todd and Utopia.!! Great lyrics, awesome guitar and vocals.!! I saw. the recent reunion tour and they were still good.!! Miss Roger though, hope all is well.!

Roger is doing OK. He's permanently retired from the road due to Arthritis and Hearing loss.He has on occasion lent his playing to some studio work. Most recently Joe Guido Welsh's 2011 album "Nothing left to say". He plays synth on a couple of tunes. The whole album features John Siegler on Bass and Kevin Ellmann on Drums. It's a great Jazz/Rock fusion album

Sounded so familiar, but took me until Todd's pre-Splashdown chatter mid-set to finally realize where I'd heard this performance before--a cassette I recorded off the radio!! Late 70s I think, much of this show used as part of a Rock Around The World show, forget which station it was on in L.A. what a trip, thanks for this mojo!

Randy Alberts I’ve had a cassette all these years too recorded by a friend back then listened to it many times but it bit the dust a while ago and BBC6 music played out part of it just recently and reminded me of the gig. Brilliant to hear it a little less dropped out 🙄😎
Todd’s guitar sound in this period was just sizzlingly great!!

Yep, same story here, I recorded this off the radio Christmas eve back in the midd /late 70s.... I found it again 4 years ago on RUclips as the Oxford polytechnic recording, my original radio recording was only an hour long, so finding this version was a real delight... It's now on my phone and gets a regular airing....

It was on Radio One in the Uk on a program called Rock goes to College.
I had my little Grundig cassette player as close to the Radio to record it. I still have it.
The concert is now on cd

This is a recording of Utopia in Oxford UK at Brooks College. It was on the radio I think just before Christmas maybe 1976. I did a recording of it on my old Grundig cassette player. Still have the tape !

The mark of a musician who truly understands the soul of the organ is one who understands how to work with the resonance of his space... too many organists continue to play at a rhythm without respect for the resonance of a room. The following echo and silence are part of the performance as a brilliant fanfare. Without silence, the fanfare just becomes noise¯\_(ツ)_/¯

By the time this show was recorded the U.K. was in the throes of punk so a Utopia show was sadly either derided or ignored there.

I've been trying to get into his stuff and I enjoy some of it and some I just haven't warmed up to yet. I have high expectations because my favorite of all time was David Bowie. TR seems to be somewhat like Dave in that he tries different things and doesn't do the same thing over and over because it worked the first time. Anyway, I'm enjoying the discovery of Todd and Utopia and everything he's done and I'm almost 60 years old!
