Outstanding! I used this process to re-stencil the U.S.A. Thank you for sharing and good selection of music to practice to. The picture of my avatar is one of the doors your tutorial helped me paint again after 75 years!
stepping around a circle is a rather unreliable method if your goal is exactness. when you step around a circle using a compass it multiplies any error in your construction exponentially. degrees of error can exist in the location of the compass points or in the tool itself. I would suggest a more reliable way to construct a regular pentagram using a different method. as a note, many pentagram construction methods are merely approximations. connecting the points with lines running through their opposite conjunctions of the lines at the other side of the origin will give you a proof of the regularity of your construction. for many applications, exactness is not always needed. in fact, it is nearly impossible to construct any perfect geometric object using hand-held tools as there will always be a degree of error in the tools themselves or in the process of construction, or in the sloppiness of the person at hand.
As Justin Crow pointed out, that isn't a very precise way of making the 5 pointed star. Not only did it seem to involve too many steps, you can tell there is some margin of error at the end result when your horizontal line of your star is not parallel with the first horizontal line you made. I would imagine the way the pentagram is achieved would be the same process used for a 5 pointed star
This does actually work geometrically but his small inaccuracy early on was compounded into a large error at the end. Not sure why he didn’t just record it again.
True. I've drawn some of these, and the friend who taught me said exactly that. One small mistake at the beginning will make a huge mistake at the end.
Thanks, I've been turning over the house all day looking for a protractor to get the 72 degrees! Now I know that I don't need it. Brilliant! I must watch some more of your nifty stuff, thanks again
i'm still not understanding the geometry behind all the designs you're creating or why i need to draw all these shapes to create a simple five pointed star
It's called geometric accuracy - Draw a pentacle free hand then draw a circle around it - Tell me if the points connect to the circles axis and radius.
What if my compass is different and my circle is bigger or smaller than yours ? Not a very reliable way to find the horizontal line you should rather drag the compass to the two points you have created by the circle and line then make the crosses from there.
to do this naturally u drop a rock then a 2nd rock anywhere (sorry i figured this out myself and taught myself so i may sound rundimentary) then on the 2nd rock draw another circle limited in length to the first rock then look up lol ull see a perfect triangle then u get ur geometry a subject i still need to try out..
Sorry to rain on the parade, but, sad to say, this isn't quite accurate. It gets really close, not enough for a perfect pentagram. Basically it takes more that this for accuracy, and a pentagram deserves a little more time and effort to get it right. If you walk it around, you end up about two millimeters beyond the starting point. If you do it symmetrically, doing both sides, alternately, then you can shorten the gap to about 1 to 3/2 millimeters.
There is an easier; though not as relevant, or necessarily accurate, way to do this. Kind of similar to finding magnetic north, by using a wristwatch, or say using a small leaf, in some water, with a paperclip maybe. Thereby fashioning a compass, which would do the job, though not in as flambuoyant a manner as he is projecting. What you can also do is simply handraw a pentagram, five or six times (even with your eyes closed). Then use corresponding distance between points of your circle/star. The rest is found in ancient Greek history, which I cannot read, though the number 666 does spell X.E.S, or sex backwards, and that Greek I do know, as well as how to ask for a cup of coffee with milk in French... zzz The snake with back leg's which can stand up using it's tail, or just plain Satan, the only joker who never laugh's.
i think the problem you see is he was sloppy in drawing his horizontal--error being he went too fast and misplaced ihis markers---when i see him do his mark to draw his horizontal they were sloppy and star thus imperfect. BTW, people that can draw 5-pointed perfect stars, freehand, no tools amaze me.:)
dlowe81 to suggest that any object could be drawn perfectly would infer that the person drawing it has a perfect understanding of what it is. I will watch your video on making a perfect pentagonal star once you release it. Even then I will question its perfection. :)
LOL, WRONG! This method does not give you the 72 degrees between points that is required to give you an accurate five point star! It may work but it is inaccurate at best!
@@codyharrison5699 How about you look right at about the 3:50 point of the video and tell me why the last arc he tries to create does not end at the top point? Then try and tell me I am wrong! You probably believe this to be accurate because his method is so utterly absurd you lost your place in the count!
@Antoine Browne Yea, just the internet... full of misinformation that is polluted with false crap like this for those looking for viable solutions. The message here needs to be corrected. The line drawn at around the 9-12 second mark is vertical; not horizontal.
360÷5=72. Just use protractor to mark 72°. I like to see different ways to get the job done.

So i should use a number 4 pencil then a number 2 or marker
Perfect. Simply stated and easy to follow.

Excellent, well done!
1:07 ish I saw that ruler slip.. redue :p
Why do all that work when you can draw it free handed?
great job
Thank you that was easy to understand, not the words though...ha ha ha ... I just followed what you did and got a perfect star!

His method will always find the horizontal line, it's a common tech used in all kinds of geometry.
Tie up a piece of chalk to String .... There you have it.... A makeshift compass
How about draw a circle then divide the radius into 5ths. Presto
How without a ruler? I think the point here is you only need a compass and straight line and no measurements.
Agreed
Over complicated but interesting.
Sheeple Slayer: Is there a less complicated way with just a compass and a straight line and no measurements?
There is an easier way, with the sacred number of 72. 360 degrees in a circle, divide by 5 is 72 degrees for each point
Thats the way I would do it
u can also just make a triangle with no bottom then 2 side ones.... but the goal is 2 moves not 3... js

thanks so much. followed along and got me a star :)
why not using protractor .. ???! and why nt go through 360° divide by 5 ???
What happens when there's none?
@@lukiepoole9254 hahha then its okay bro ... yoo
I would construct the 5 pointed start by constructing a regular pentagon... after obtaining the 5 points I draw the straight lines to create the star.
Damn, looks complicated.
gannon todd it's not
thanks
That music tho....
I dont get it
