    We were just saying how much things have gone up “gardeners the new cash cow”. It has come to the attention of sellers that we are an insane group and will pay 💰 to grow. Glad the kids are helping Cara and kids playing is priceless. Have a blessed week 🙏, Ali 🥶🇨🇦

    Good Morning, Cara❤
    Somehow you got dropped from my watch list. I haven't seen you either.
    So lovely to see your sweet face.
    And I think everything has increased in price.
    I'm making my own Worm Castings and Vermicompost.
    But I have a small yard and pot gardening only.
    I hope you have a wonderful Spring
    ❤Peggy❤

    “To each his own” is the saying. Your new soil looks amazing! I think that the strawberry crowns like to be exposed, so maybe you can uncover a few and see if it makes a difference. It’s almost warm enough here to venture outside. 😃 I can hardly wait to get my hands dirty! 🌱

    Blackberries will definitely reseed and takeover when given the chance. I heard this before, but never experienced until we moved here and I love it! They're actually considered a weed here in Southeast TX. 😮

    I plan to get some good organic bagged compost soon. I have a Xmas gift card to spend 😊 My garden isn't as big as yours, so I might do with about 5-6 bags

    Your garden looks all cleaned up, Cara! That compost pile looks good! I'll have to buy some this year too but since my garden is tiny compared to yours, I won't have to spend that much. Nice to see your kids having fun helping you out in the garden. Have a nice day! - Evita😊

    Hi Cara! Just stumbled upon your channel...weird question: how are your beds with the arched cattle panels oriented? North to south or east to west? We are getting ready to put in a couple of raised beds and I would really like to try growing my tomatoes on one like that, but I don't want the tomatoes to shade any smaller plants overmuch. Also, I'm in NC, where did you get your compost?

    Girl I know what you mean, while we don’t have the amount of area for our garden like you, but the cost has gone up. Plus knew I liked you, us ladies that was raise on a farm don’t shy away from hard physical labor I’d be right there with you

    • @bluebirdhomestead
      @bluebirdhomestead  8 месяцев назад +1

      The cost definitely does add up, thankfully it isn’t this expensive every year. If I wasn’t adding the new beds it would be a lot cheaper. Although I can not guarantee I won’t add new beds every year haha 😂

    I put some of my homemade compost in the garden last year at the end of the season. I wanted to get a jump on things so the garden would have a chance to soak in all the nutrients by the time I am able to plant this year. I also did some winter sowing for the first time. I can't wait to really get things growing. Great work in your garden Cara!👍🏼

    Curious how many yards of compost/top soil was in that pile you purchased? It seemed like it goes a long ways.

    • @bluebirdhomestead
      @bluebirdhomestead  8 месяцев назад +1

      It was 12 yards in total. I definitely didn’t need that much for just the raised beds. I have other plans for the rest of it, which I will share in a future video 😊😉

    Its not dirt though....its some compost with wood/bark shredded up in it. Where I live they give that away free. Its leaf mold combined with shredded bark that people drop off at the TWP.

    Yes I have ammended and added compost and earthworm castings…but my “beds” are grow bags…I have tiny space and of course wish I could have raised beds etc. but it is what it is.
