    Thank goodness, someone who writes No Shampoo. Your opinion is not uncommon. "No poo" sounds immature, it's not you who think like a 5 year old.
    I've actually been washing my hair with only water since I was 20, I had dandruff problems and had tried a lot of things. I'm 30 now and I don't have any problems with greasy hair, but my hair is thicker than most.
    I think the problem a lot of people have with their dry skin, greasy hair and scalp issues is because they use *warm water*
    It's simply not natural to do every day or every other day. I'll wash some of my body with warm water, but for the most part I've gotten used to cold water. Sounds crazy, because it's difficult for a comfy cozy addict to get up in the morning and step into a cold shower.
    Cold showers does a lot more for you and your blood circulation, skin and hair.
    Also, I don't think it's a great idea to put all sorts of things into your hair, except natural oils. It might sound counter intuitive, but if you're gonna do anything, use oils that are naturally anti bacterial like olive oil (I've used some vegetable oils, olive oil is pretty good). Spending time in really dry, warm climates the oils become essential (deserts, the sand and wind can be harsh).
    I'm sure it's harder if you have really fine hair. But *cold water* and no shampoo or baking soda or anything like that is absolutely the only way my hair will stay healthy. The only other time I had a healthy scalp was when I used to use Head and Shoulders (and no conditioner). But it's been a long time since, because I don't need it.
    I have to mention that I'm a guy who has had long hair since I stopped using shampoo, recently I had it cut. But the majority of my experience for the past 10 years has been with long hair (not just medium long length). I'm also not a hippie with unrealistic expectations of anyone, I'm simply sharing because this works for me so I'm sure it can work for others. It's not realistic that it's going to be the best choice for everyone, but you won't know till you try.

      Hey Hun I'm water only n ive noticed that warm water dries out the bottom half of my hair a lot... but it cleans my roots well & successfully takes out the excess grease from the top half (I'm only on month 3 so I'm still transitioning). When I use cold water my hair is much healthier, but it doesn't take out the excess grease... i know that's just a transition issue tho. I haven't actually tried cold water on my scalp yet. Just read ur comment & im interested - do you wash ur hair with warm water ever? Or always cold. And do you feel the cold water cleans the scalp well enough? Thank you for ur help ! Xxx

      Guys have short hair, washing hair daily for them is easier, it's harder if you have waist length hair like most women in asia, it takes so long to dry.

    My hair is fine as yours. Chick pea flour paste massaged on the scalp will cut the grease. Rinse with fenugreek tea-no tangles. A great solution for the 'greasy' period I found.

    Cocoa powder is amazing as a dry shampoo...doesn't dry your hair out like the spray kind...just style ur hair how you want it and use a makeup brush...rub it in good but don't get it on ur scalp bc it will be noticeable...my fiance constantly tells me how nice my hair smells. Hahaha

    Our husbands are attracted and like our natural body smells it's perfume to them! That's what mine tells me! Lol! I haven't washed my hair in several years some weeks I completely skip and some weeks I may give it a quick wash with a gentle cleanser. My hair is naturally curly. So it's always wild and cannot be contained! Good luck, your hair looks just fine! 👍🏾

    • @paddido
      @paddido 6 лет назад

      Less is More my hair is also curly, very fine and gets dry easily. I’ve tried adding coconut oil but it makes it super oily and greasy looking, should I just deal with it and continue to do no shampoo? I’ve been doing the baking soda and ACV mixture twice a month (since ph levels can be harmful). Anyways do you just do water?

    I've been doing the no shampoo method for about 8 months I'm a guy and I usually keep it short on the sides and about three inches on top my hair has a lot of body some wave it styles easily no need for gel or wax I get compliments on it all the time guys ask me I tell them and they don't believe me I used shampoo the other day and my hair just looked flat and dull big mistake. Tip don't rinse your hair with hot water it strips the oils use luke warm water or as cold as you can stand it I use water only my hair never stinks or anything good luck.

    I've been using the baking soda and apple cider vinegar, what will be two years next month. My hair has been so much healthier since making the switch. I used to have a really oily roots, dry split ends, and dandruff. My hair would be disgusting in less than 24 hours. Now I "wash" my hair one to two times a week. For dry shampoo I use arrowroot powder mixed with cocoa powder, then I used a makeup brush to apply it to my roots.

    Water only, just once or 2x a week and put coconut oil when needed on the ends and mid section. It takes a few months to balance out.

  • @paddido
    @paddido 6 лет назад +2

    I was afraid about the ph of baking soda and ACV as well, but I researched more and found that if you dilute it in water it lowers the ph considerably. It also said it still can be harmful to do for your hair frequently, and to only do it 2x a month or every other week. This is what I’ve been doing and has been working well so far, and thought I’d share in case you wanted to try that again! The only problem is that I have very fine, curly hair that dries out easily. I tried adding coconut oil once or twice after showering with water but then it became WAY too oily...just wondering if in all your research you’ve found anything about dry hair solutions? And maybe that honey mixture would work well? Thanks!

      I wash my hair once a week with soapnuts and it really makes your hair clean! Just put the handful of soapnuts into pot of boiling water ,boil it for few minutes and turn the heat down and let it simmer for 20 min. Let it cool down and you can add some essential oils to it if you like. The mixture keeps in fridge for 2 weeks, but you can also freeze it in icecube trays and it keeps for months. Just have to defrost as many cubes as needed for a wash

  • @jimbowaxo
    @jimbowaxo 8 лет назад +1

    I've just started doing "no poo", actually semi no poo (because I still have to shampoo once a week for reasons I don't wanna get into). But if u just stepped out of the shower and ur hair is still noticeably greasy, then you may want to stay in the shower a little longer. I'm able to rid my hair of most grease with just water alone. Before hopping in the shower, I usually rub or message my scalp with my fingers and then wiping the grease off my fingers , then rubbing another area of my scalp, and repeat. This ensures the removal of dirt and oil from my scalp because I don't want to be rubbing my scalp when I'm in the shower. HAIR IS WEAKEST WHEN WET so better to do that part before. Then it helps to have a shower that has a strong spray because that water pressure helps remove additional oil from the hair and scalp. Also use warm water. I do find myself showering my hair 5-10 minutes longer but it does help make my hair less greasy (sometimes not greasy looking at all) after a no poo shower.

    • @jimbowaxo
      @jimbowaxo 8 лет назад

      its working well. But it seems that rubbing the scalp does help during.

    Just out of curiosity, would you shower/clean your body with water only?
    Oil attracts dirt etc. Water only doesnt work. And your hair will look limp and dull very quickly. Do you think your hair has an invisible force field around it thst prevents dust, road dirt, pollen, dirt dust, animal dander...all the things that get kicked up in the air and settle on you? Yes it will smell eventually if you sweat. If water only worked we wouldnt need soap or laundry detergent.

    I know this video is older but long tern use of coconut oil will dry your hair out. Also have you tried using essential oils. I just started 2 days ago...i would only shampoo once a week anyways so I figured why not. I looked up some stuff about essential oils and using butters for moisture.

    I don't know what it is about your face but you're so pretty...
    I'm probably going to do this soon, but I don't know if I should first just shampoo with no conditioner or anything else to wash out all the silicone I put in my hair over the years, plus my hair is really long (to my belly button - just cut, used to be ass length) and I'm dreading the transition. Shouldn't be that bad tho (I hope xD), I got my hair used to washing it once a week.
    Did anyone do this with first quitting shampoo and then later on conditioner? I have a really tough time brushing my hair without it, mainly because of the length.

When my hair gets so bad that I feel like shampooing I grind up some oatmeal and after I wet my hair with warm water I sprinkle the dry ground oats in my hair and it soaks up all the grease! I let is sit for about 10 minutes. It also leaves the hair soft which is great but it takes FOREVER to rinse out of your hair so be prepared!! Thanks for sharing!

    You should try Dr. Bronner's Organic Pump Soap!! It's all natural and organic and doesn't contain any chemicals. I get mine at earthfare. They also make a Castile soap that's great too but can be drying. Then do an apple cider vinegar rinse after you "shampoo" to act like a conditioner - this will balance out the PH in your hair. Your hair will look and feel amazing once it dries and the vinegar smell will go away too!! You can put some essential oil drops into the rinse if you want for a lasting scent!

      Eucaliptus oil is the only cure. Put several drops in a spray bottle and spray it on. They hate it. Brush your hair as much as you can so the nits do not form. They cannot attach if brushed out. Their life span is one month so be patient but as soon as you do these 2 things they will flee. Also, natural sebum from your scalp will ensure they don't come back.

      Dmitrijs Godins that's awesome!!! I have since switched to a strictly all natural no chem shampoo but I'm not strictly doing no poo anymore because we moved somewhere with really hard water and it threw me off! Good luck! I hope you stick with it and it works for you!!!!

      My hair is about the same length as yours and it is very fine and it was dry and crappy before. I’m so excited. I will use the honey.
