Heroes of Bronze is a personal CGI shortfilm I've been working on for the past 4 years, a labor of love and an introduction to an era that I think is sorely missing from today's film and animation world. I am not a historian, nevertheless, I tried to do the ancient Greece justice. I wanted to depict it as historically accurate as I was able, but at the same time, make it larger than life, the way it lives in my imagination. I am sure I've made errors, despite that, I hope I was able to capture the spirit of the ancient times and the Greco-Persian war period.
I plan to continue this project, but it largely depends on the support of the Patrons. On my Patreon, I will be sharing lots of behind the scenes, exclusive content, some of my 3D files, as well as short stories and larger parts of the Heroes of Bronze story.
I put together majority of the scenes and assets in Blender, where I also rendered the shots. To help the process, however, it helped to use a lot of other specialized tools. Absolutely essential for character meshes and animation was Reallusion's Character Creator and iClone, as well as the Rokoko suit for capturing my own animations. I employed Marvelous Designer for cloth simulations and Substance Painter for texturing most of the assets. The Adobe package served well in postproduction and editing, I used Photoshop for still images, After Effects for compositing the shots and Premiere for editing the video.

I was blessed to be immersed in the beauty and majesty of our culture, traditions and history. Now as a father myself, I’ve made it a priority to instil in my son the same love and reverence for his Greek identity. What an incredible achievement Martin! So proud of the work you did as a solo-manned project. It looks amazing! I LOVE that you included a realistic battle sequence with an army that maintained its formation, and didn't break off into 1v1 fights like in most movies. well done!

Absolutely superb work, Martin! I am in awe of what you've achieved here. There are many shots that could be right out of a blockbuster film like Alexander, Troy or 300; or from one of the latest Blur/Digic CG trailers. And what an incredible shot to end on as well.

Also and considering the fact of your achievement here, I must thank you because those like me who loves that era, that ancient world, you gave us a beautiful support. Support as a visualisation base, and as an inspiration.
Love your assets, your choices, the support, the music, narration and the script. Everything is on a very high level, equal to a studio, by yourself, wonderful.

AS a sword instructor, the sound od the sword silently sheating and not doing does shingiling stupid sounds that producers put on every time is what made me love this short, one could say its a silly detail. But quality could be defines as the attention to details. Congrats.

It is very very beautiful !!! Congratulations! If you decide to one day to do something else with your cinematics, more than this stunning animation, then you need to talk to the guy from HistoryBattles3D. He only just started but what he does are animated battle reconstructions. When I watched your Hereos almost immediately imagined properly narrated reconstruction of Battle of Marathon or something else Siege of Athens for example.
