Can't even spell his dang name right but want to act like HIMSELF is all important about an opinion or point of view. I don't need him to validate my opinion. That's his opinion. Good for him. The problem is the term 'Paved the way' means something different to you than it does to some others. Nobody is wrong or right. Numbers don't mean shit to anybody who believes paving the way is about something else. So there's no point in all of this idiotic hostility and weird ass gloating about this unserious topic. Why is it so important for you guys to have everyone else believe what you believe? Why is it so important for you guys to have everybody else think what you think? You do you. You want to believe BTS Paved the way? Have at it. Believe that until all your little hearts burst with pride. I on the other hand do not believe paving the way has anything to do with numbers and ya know what? The world is still spinning isn't it? So no use in throwing tantrums because people don't agree with you. You're not going to convince anybody to think like you so just stop with the hostility when you come across a comment you don't agree with just because some people don't hold BTS in the same glorious light as you do
Edited - Not saying you were hostile here. I'm talking in terms of this whole hot mess of a comment section by mostly BTS fans

I'm so proud of BTS. They help some people realized that being idol/artist is a noble thing to do. Through BTS craft, they made people see kpop in a new light and not just look down upon, or be box in stereotypes. They really break through what has always been the standard. Amazing people, and so does the people behind them, who believed in them may it be their staffs(company) or their fans.
    Worth mentioning too that---
So proud of BTS, they're now university graduates and further pursuing their degrees. I mean, with that success and busy schedules, they still manage to study? I don't know if there are other idols who did this, but wow. I salute.
Another take, in their era of success but still all go to the military for their duty when they were given a chance to reach a certain age to go. But no, they want to go together so that they can come back together too.
Armys, I salute! Keep loving the boys. Despite all the toxic in or outside you encounter don't waver! Something greater is yet to come. Set yourself free especially from worries and anger . Because as Jimin said, "we are closer than this" ❤️💜

That is a matter of what kind of awards are even aknowledged for this list.
The one on "Best Lagos" from the beginning of this year aknowledges BTS at 10 but does not give any numbers. It holds also a negative bias and no father exlanation like they mention "American Awards" but not BTS winning "Artist of the Year".
A List from a year before that from "Team Boma" places BTS at 4 with 786 awards. Which would place them higher on the other list.
"shout me Celeb" has a list from 2024 that places BTS at 4 (also claims they are from China - the article itself names South Korea) with 486+ awards (Beyoncé with 542+, Rihanna 673+ and Michael Jackson 834+). No idea where and if the Forbes numbers are real because it reads like a bad copy/not quiet accurate
"feesherslive" placed them on 4 also with 486 awards at the beginning of 2023.
It's tricky and I think people are messing with numbers.

What do numbers have to do with paving the way? What did BTS do that wasn't already happening or headed that way to begin with in kpop? By 2017 when BTS first started getting really noticed on a global scale, Kpop was already becoming more and more popular globally. BTS just happened to be at the right place at the right time when the climate for a kpop group to strike it bigger than their predecessors did in the west. That's not taking anything away from BTS but their fanbase and social media played a huge part and that's a testament to their catchy music and devoted even sometimes to a toxic degree, fandom. I am interested in why some of you feel like BTS are superior because of numbers though when groups before and after them also make very good music. Not many groups have as large as a fanbase willing to mass stream, mass vote and mass buy like BTS Army do. I think some of you do forget that a lot of these numbers you keep throwing around are due to a large amount of their fandom mass streaming, buying, etc etc and if you're going to brag about numbers then that also needs to be acknowledged. Don't even bother with "all fandoms do it!!!" Because yes while that is true, again, the need for Army to always need BTS to be first, they will mass do whatever they need to do, to an unhealthy degree and other fandoms aren't willing to go to those lengths

This is my personal opinion, Lee Sooman is the father of Kpop, even though SM is shit at treating his groups, his vision of music and Kpop transcends. Note that all their groups are iconic and have made a huge difference in Kpop (tvxq, super junior, Shinee, Girls Generation, Exo, f(x),Red Velvet, Aespa, nct and now riize). I believe that internationally psy has been the driving force behind the expansion of kpop. The groups that have influenced other groups musically and have generated an impact on kpop, I think that groups were exo and bigbang

    • @LesEXO2012
      @LesEXO2012 11 месяцев назад +25

I agree. Many fans think LSM adopted Japan's trainee system but he was actually inspired by Motown who had a training system albeit less intense than SM's. He even named his company SMtown based on the name Motown. He's shady af but has a great eye for talent and great ear for music. I also appreciate him giving credit where credit is due and admit that kpop was built on black music which so many fans do not recognize or acknowledge. EXO is definitely the group that embodies his love for R&B and vocal R&B groups especially once people hear their B-sides

I'm a bit sad with what happened with LSM last year but I also aknowledge how he cheated the system - the Dispatch article was fascinating.
But it is BTS who "paved the way" for Idol music globally.

      - how BTS paved the way

BTS paved the way in the foreign and world market, something that no group could do because they only remained stagnant in Korea while BTS knew how to stand out more and thanks to them, now any Kpop group can easily enter any foreign music market or be nominated for the bilboards, to enter the hot 100, Gramys, to be an ambassador of famous brands and to be invited to fashion week in different countries and also to be known worldwide. In addition to that, they came out of nowhere from a bankrupt company, big hit intertaiment and they did it They raised with blood, sweat and tears and now they created a large company Hybe labels that is now full of other groups now they are doing their military service because they wanted to do it themselves and they are not active in kpop and they will return in 2026 for that and more they should to applaud BTS, they deserve much more for everything they did👑🔥❤️🥰🤗

That’s why you see it but in the large it won’t change and will decreased the revenue ( in the US market ) as longest it actually is rentable by itself ( not riding the BTS hype ). And the way for that it’s actually having nice songs , skills and ofc look genuine. And choreos with actual musicality and sense with the song it self. Which be only working with a recent female group of BTS company but still they need time to see it ( cuz they are too new).

22:29 I highly doubt that SM had the intention of "copying BTS with Super M". I think the main motive was to bring together members of their groups and take advantage of the fact that several of their groups were not complete due to military service. SM is also a pioneer in subunits or mixing members. If I'm not mistaken, Lee Sooman was more outside than inside SM in 2019. Mainly, it's obvious that much was not going to succeed, since the members had activities as soloists and with their groups. SM handles the Asian market very well, I don't think the American market is a problem. I always had the idea that SM wants to protect the true essence of K-pop, if you look at most of their groups they promote little in America. What's more, among their producers, they worked MJ producer and Grammy critics, and they themselves say that when it comes to making K-pop songs, they treat it in a totally different way than what it means to make music in the Western industry.

If they didn't want to copy bts or if they didn't want that group to have bts achievements, they certainly wouldn't have debuted them in America instead of in South Korea. Because bts broke into the western market, they thought that they would also succeed.

Literally, one of their producers is the CEO of the Grammys, they know about the American industry, with the musical monster that it is, if they want, they could have done better, they probably wanted to test what the American market is like with their groups, but If you know how SM works with their groups, I can assure you that they put the minimum effort with Super m. I don't think I'm lying by saying that Super M lasted less than 1 year, and gave a few concerts, mainly because of the pandemic and then Baekhyun, the main vocalist of Super m entered to the military service. BTS is not the first Korean artist to perform in America, much less to work with the American industry. It's also somewhat incoherent, sm has continually rejected international offers for their groups forever and suddenly wants to create a group to copy BTS? come on it doesn't make sense.

"the next BTS: why they fail every time"
I think SM is the only top label that never landed a song on the HOT100.
If Kai hadn't be so abruptly pulled into the military - stupid SM - he would not only have promoted with Exo more but also SuperM was supposed to drop music.
BTS is the first group that filled stadiums in the US in 2018 (I think) already - Twice is the second artist to do so... last year.
BTS is on the level of the top artists in the world and has the numbers to prove it - no SM artist comes close - the market they succeed is China... when China's politics lets them.
According to the IFPI BTS was the global recording artist of the year 2020, 2021 and second in 2022 (they only dropped the expensive anthology album "Proof" in 2022 and went into "hiatus" for military service.
In fact SM is at the moment only the 3rd biggest label/company in SK's music market.
      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

except it was... so was cheating...
which SM Ent. is especially good at.
The label used to tell fans what they had to do by sending a child as a messenger.
But yes, count different albums as one and they get those numbers per album.
Nothing against them - they could have become bigger - but I'm entertained that from what I know they never managed to send a song to the HOT100.
      Maybe next time. Good luck!
