@@crep9352actually as someone with hammer experience I can tell you this would not be fixed as it is not a bug, every func_door has a damage value that controls how much damage an entity blocking the door will take when blocking it. this is what allows the healing door to heal as the damage was set to a negative number 🤓

Forget Gordon, the real miracle is how Barney made it out of Black Mesa alive.
This tells me one of two things: either Barney's are incredibly fragile and will shatter/explode easily, OR Gordon's HEV suit is incredibly good and stuff that would kill a normal person is just a minor irritance to him
Gordon has survived explosions and a blast from the upgraded gravity gun so it's not too far fetched
Actually the doors are just as deadly to him

I’ll never forget back in 98 when I loaded up a save one day and was surprised by 4 Barney’s standing next to me, I had remembered 1 being there the night before but for whatever reason there was now 4. I felt so cool like I had my own swat team ready to take on all the aliens. I set out looking for that smoke and 3 Barney’s were smashed by the first door we traveled through. The last Barney or “Original” Barney as I would like to believe, was sucked up to the ceiling and munched on before we had any firefight. 🤷♂️

why does barney literally gib at everything? does it have the same gibbing engine as doom where if a monster or your health goes to the minus number of your max health, you gib?
Yeah, and environmental hazards (fire, door crushing, etc.) are one of the damage sources capable of gibbing. Some sources don't do enough damage to gib Barney, so for some scenes, I spawned a copy of him with negative health.

Quake has a “gib threshhold” where if you get a npc to a negative health value e.g. -60 it gibs
HL likely has this engine too because of it’s descent from Quake

The crazy thing is that technically, none of these are Barney, (except when Gordon rides the tram in the beginning) Barney never sees Gordon in the black Mesa (in person, he did see him on a security camera)

Yeah... I have a theory that black mesa just clones all their security guards, but they messed up, and that's why they are so unstable. Except for the original (who ends up being the one survivor).
in black mesa I lightly bumped a board that barney was right next to with my train and he exploded

Fun fact: at the beginning of the game when the guard let's you out of the tram, he presses a few buttons that make beeping sounds. If you look closely you can see that he made the sounds, and not the tram.
