Interesting, when Rio sliced the background I interpreted that as a display of her control over reality as Death (using a semi 4th-wall break), but taking it in context, I realize it was a clue that the Road itself was an illusion, a matte facade on which they were like players on a stage.
@@illusion-xiii Exactly! But your interpretation is also correct, in my opinion. I think, Rio did mean to demonstrate that she was not imprisoned in the illusion and that Agatha's trip on the road would eventually end and she, Death, would be there, waiting. Ready to collect. 🪦
Oh the Road is VERY Real and that was a display of Death controlling reality. Billy made it real so it is real now. It just never existed until well now.
@@MintyMacha In a sense you are right! Billy can clearly do reality warp. But if he changes reality for other people, from their perspective it can be considered an illusion, something that shouldn't be there and differs from their original reality. For example as Agatha, I would claim I have a basement under my house, but momentarily if I peeked there, I would see Billy's remake of my reality, which would appear unreal to me - hence the term illusion. But it's just semantics. We all know that it's not, in fact, an illusion set over reality, but rather reality reshaping itself according to Billy's wish.
I love how, in the very beginning she flat out stares The Witches Road doesn't exist, and this is one of the few true statements Agatha has made that we should have taken at face value.
she doesn't actually lie to billy a lot (if at all). billy's tarot reading of her was accurate in that regard, even if it wasn't what the trial required
She generally tells something approaching truth, but in a way that is like "if she said the sky was blue, I'd look up to check, then realise that meant I'd taken my eyes off her and was about to be stabbed"
She did not not say "bro you litterally created this place " that's not even what her look said her was " oh know you shouldn't wish for that, then I can't get what I want from the road" it's the same reason she was worried about him dying if he died they would either be trapped in the road with no further trials or the road would disappear.
@@hardcandy9880 Yes, that one got me too. Like I had no idea why she winked at Billy until it all started to make sense eventually. 😶 That's a masterpiece scene right there for me.
I’ve watched the show start to finish three times. The second viewing hits different now that you know the true nature of the road. But your edit here is great because I even missed some of them watching it three times.
Now this is how you do a plot twist, right under your nose but just enough that you will feel that something was very off. For a "witches' road" that has trials for each witches, the settings seems too modern. Like three out of the four real witches lived for centuries, you would think that the trials should be more ancient looking and something out of a dark creepy setting. But no, all we got was a fancy place, a music studio, a 90s vacation cabin, a reference to popular witches in media, and a weird morgue. Those are not something that witches who lived through centuries would be familiar to, its what someone who only knows witches on a shallow level. The only argument you can say about it at first is something like: "well disney wants to make popular references and tribute to classic witch medias and horrors". But it turns out it was just Billy who made the witches' road real, a teenager who was very obssessed with witches
This is what most writers don't understand. A plot twist isn't good because it surprises the audience. A plot twist is good when it happens and suddenly all the little puzzle pieces the audience was struggling with snap together into a complete picture. It's that feeling, not the surprise, that sticks with people.

I thought the witches road sounded like a really dumb idea, the kind of plot convenience lazy writers include; and what do you know, that was the twist all long
One thing I still don't get is what was Agatha's original plan? She knew that Jen is bound and Sharon is not a witch. Plus she didn't want to kill Billy, but probably also didn't want to share her secret with him. AND she told Lilia that striking her allows her to steal their magic. So if the door didn't appear, the only one who could strike her was Alice, if Lilia didn't stop her. And what would she do with the rest? Just kill them?
I also think the reason she told Lillia about her magic absorbing ability was because Lillia has a mess up mind and tend to forgot things. I think she thought that would be just okay
She was desperate and needed witches quickly. And she only needed one of them to strike her. So she thought the only way to convince Lilia to go was to tell her that secret, but hoped that Lilia wouldn’t be able to warn the others in time. But she needed all of them to keep up the ruse that the road was real.
Watching it again, I don’t think she knew Jen was fully bound from the get go, I think she just kind of put it together as they went along and just kept quiet about it, or if she did know, it really didn’t matter to her immediate plan of not being murdered by the Salem 7. The way I saw it, I think she was really just kind of desperately making one last grab for anyones power knowing that the Salem 7 were about to be on her and these 4 were the only ones she had time to dupe. But, she needed all 4 there to trick them into falling for it given the context of the song and was just hoping that at least one would manage to blast her and give her time to escape and regroup/find other witches to steal from later. We constantly see Agatha bargain, scheme, lie, and act the second the situation turns and overall fly pretty off the cuff with her plans, so I like to think that her original goal here was just to buy more time the way she so often does and just kind of went with it when she realized Billy might actually be able to give her a bigger power boost if she played through his version of the road.
Because as she said in the car too Teen, even the most down and out witches can create a spark as a coven, which she could steal since she was so desperate for power, before the Salem Seven could reach her Sharon was a non factor and put there for appearance cause she couldn’t steal Rio, but Agatha could have just killed her afterwards
Doesn’t anyone find it strange that Agatha told Lilia the secret about her succubus powers? That’s literally what spoiled her one ultimate goal in the beginning, why did she do that?
It's the only reason they didn't end up killed by Agatha, unlike her previous victims. Lilia telling the other witches to not blast her made them live long enough to notice the door.
She needed Lilia to go so she would have enough witches to keep up the ruse, and for that, Lilia had to trust her, so she told Lilia that secret. But I guess she hoped Lilia wouldn’t warn the others in time
I honestly think she just put all her faith in thinking Lilia wouldn’t be able to resist trying to murder her. I mean, it never failed her before, even her own mother couldn’t resist the temptation
