just started making rings as a hobby last year, started with resin casts, moved to resin inlays, now this year im starting to do bezel settings in premade mountings. I would love to see more tutorials, maybe one on how to use the hand bezel roller and burnisher tools? i'd love to tune in for that

I agree, I recommend to learn that way first before going to use a Flexshaft hammer handpiece which is much faster but much easier to break a stone or ruin your piece. It would make for a good episode and will add it to my list of missed topics… that comes under “old school” method but recommended for everyone first!!

Angela X- Thank you for your kind comments and am thrilled you like the videos. If the mounting is the one with the sapphire and white gold then yes, that can be ordered from Stuller in a variety of styles with the height given in the descriptions.

Great question and glad you spotted something different in the pliers!
They are not standard gem setting pliers and can only be found by a Craftsman tool dealer which Sears was where I got mine. The pliers are called “ignition pliers” and are found more in the automotive section at times. I then ground off the teeth grips and tapered the ends of the jaws to my desired thickness. They are indispensable and nothing comes close for effectiveness and control in a plier that is made for the trade, in my opinion and they cost 4 times less as well!

Perfect Job but I was lost when he took a new different bur to fix something he found was incorrect in the prong setting. He failed to explain what he was trying to achieve to make clear that step he made.

basically once the stone was in the seat he cut, he must have noticed that the belly of the stone was such that it was making contact with the prong. In that case you have to do a little customization, either by tilting the bur you used the first time different ways or by carving out the prong with the ball bur or any other bur or even a saw or file. I hope I made sense. I'm just a beginner as well.
