Spell of the unown. I watched this movie when I was a very very young. This movie is inside my heart. Man, even I grew older , I always remember this. That's how great it is.
Spell of the Union is such a good movie, I was so young I barely even understood it all the way back then, I probably watched it 5 times, I remember feeling genuinely sad for the little girl and ash, genuine emotion. This one really touched me as a person so much more than the other movies, im glad he put it first because to me it's in a league of it's own.
So many people trash that scene when it’s only possible because ash is on the brink of death and he is like becoming one with nature or some shit, but but for that scene the OG voice actor for pikachu actually made a return and voiced that scene all these years later making it fucking awesome in that right.

That movie made me honestly consider using a Furret in my playthrough of Heart Gold and Celebi is one of the most precious cinnamon buns in all of Pokemon (and that almost-death scene still makes me near tears, if I ever watch that scene after binging Plastic Memories I will be dehydrated by morning.)
Yeah that bit with Sammy and Professor was such a delightful part of the movie for me too. The scene where Ash tries to revive Celebi when it shrivels up, I kid you not, was the moment that led to me tearing up in a movie for the first time and so I will always have some nostalgia for the movie. :)
Not to mention the continuity it ensues. Oak gave Ash Pikachu as a starter because he knew it would happen. Oak gave Ash his best friend because he knew they would be best friends in the future.
I'd have to disagree with Giratina and the sky warrior because Zero had quite a bit of development for pokemon standards. The only negative I see in it is that Shaymin was annoying
I LOVE how the top 6 included these 4: Pokemon 2000: The Power Of One. Pokemon: Lucario and the mystery of Mew Pokemon Heroes: Latios and Latias. AND EVEN Pokemon: Spell of the Unknown. Those are probably my 4 favorites.

Most of the movies I only vaguely remember, but Lucario and the Mystery of Mew will always be my favorite. What’s important about that movie is that unlike a lot of the Pokémon movies, there’s real, genuine character development, in this case Lucario. The lie he believes is that his master betrayed him out of malice, but the truth is that he was worried that Lucario would instead of him in order to save the forest, which he ends up having to do at the end of the film. It is SO good.
My top 5 1. Pokemon Ranger & the temple of the sea 2. Pokemon: lucario and the mystery of Mew 3. Pokemon: the rise of darkari 4. Pokemon: the spell of the unown 5. A tie between Pokemon: arceus and the jewels of life/Pokemon heroes I also like Destiny Deoxys too.
Latios and Latias was by far the best movie. Was so happy to see you had it at #2 at least. Alot of ppl forget that movie because it didn't have your big ticket legendaries but the story was so gut wrenching and amazing, the scenery, animation, music score and characters were superb as well.
@@AnimatedGinger When I saw the teaser of Movie 13, I was really anticipating for Ho-Oh to be in the movie. More trailers later, things have changed presenting Zoroark and Zorua. As much as the movie itself is fine, I'm still disappointed in the 5th generation push they chose to do with putting those 2 new Pokemon there, along with hinting the next land to venture. The series, Diamond and Pearl, did fine without the future generation reliance, but the company had to spoil it. I can only imagine what movie 13 could have been if Ho-Oh was the main star, finally wrapping up Ash's meeting with it since their very first start of the journey.
Am a zoroark fan and i will say it is refreshing to see someone say zoroark master of illusion is good. I own the dvd. And i have a zoroark and zoura plush. And figure of them. Am a huge fan of zoroark and i hold no regret. The villain of that movie was a asshole. But he was a good villain.
Trueee, I got annoyed with the uncle character, but I love the character development of the old grandma xD Her past scene when she lost her pokemon in the fire brought me to tears numerous times.
I loved how it portrayed dialga and palka as well. These unstoppable forces of nature that are a monumental threat to everyone around them. Although Im well aware of its flaws.

pokemon hero's latios latias is my favorite because, when i was younger i had a dark view of the world and was depressed this was the first pokemon movie i watched and the world of pokemon was an escape for me. and even now pokemon is a big part of my life and it will always be.
I’m glad to hear some people love the Zoroark movie. I think it’s definitely one of the better movies and the credits were an amazing send off for the DP anime.
It was actually considering a lot of people either called it their second or first favorite Pokémon series. They did a lot of things right in the anime. Gen 4 will always hold a place to me. I even still play Platinum and from time to time check for any news for remakes of the games.
Animated Ginger I didn’t like the first movie a lot but it was good. I prefer the sinnoh and kalos movies though. Along side with the new movies and Lucario and tMoM

Nostalgia isn't why the 1st Movie is the best to me, it's because of how deep & relatable I find Mewtwo as a character. If you saw the full movie Mewtwo was essentially Shadow the Hedgehog before he even existed. As for Mewtwo being relatable, over the past 8 years I found myself questioning my reason for existence. I felt like I was born into a slave generation destined to suffer because of being born a Millennial, Pokemon the 1st Movie was part of what kept me alive when I was at my lowest point. "life is wonderful, but why?", "This Cannot be my Destiny!" both of those Mewtwo quotes were much like my thoughts in those days.
idk what it is about Temple of the Sea but that movie gets me every time. aside from the king of the sea part (which was really dumb) i think its at least top 3 minimum for me
my favorite film is the power of us. i was able to see the special screening of it and it was great. it being a character driven story was really cool and everyone's achievement's felt earned. my second is movie 19 with my third being movie 12. i really enjoyed the concept of dark mega evolution. really wished that was a focus for the tv series. i'm a sucker for time travelling and seeing the past in movie 12 was pretty cool. usually i would be pissed about how time travel wasn't handled properly as literally nothing changed in the present but i'm able to look past that as it is a kids movie.

For me, nothing can beat pokemon ranger and the temple of the sea. I am an emotional person, so pretty much almost the whole movie made me cry. But the end was frustrating... ASH ALWWAAAAAYS TO THE RESCUE OOOOoooooOoooh BIG HEROOOO! WOW PLOT TWIST I NEVER KNEW *HE* WOULD BE THE SEA KING!!! As he said in the video, that part was just dumb.
Easily my favourite, none of the others can really compete. May was my favourite character, Hoenn is/was my favourite region, Manaphy is so adorable, and I always looked up to the Pokemon Rangers more than Trainers. Ash at the end mucks things up but it does so much else right. There are quite a few good ones but that one just hits so right.

Okay but was it because of nostalgia? Because for me it was that fucking Luxray scene. I got aggravated that they had the Ash releasing Butterfree scene like five minutes after seeing a Luxray frozen to death. At that point I still wasn't over it so releasing Butterfree meant nothing to me.

I got Pokemon 3: Spell of the Unown on VHS on a sunny Sunday when I went with my parents to a city that was 80km from my hometown. I was never allowed to buy something so expensive (for an 8-year-old), yet somehow they bought it for me. God, I have watched it at least 20 times. It will always bring to my mind the warm summer wind I felt on that day. What a lovely memory in the bleak adult life...

Pokemon 3 was the first movie I personally owned though I had seen the two before, but just absolutely loved it. Made me think Entei was the sickest legendary. And the moment where Charizard sees Ash in trouble on TV from the Charisific valley being apart for a long time and leaves, just barely saving him while flying is one of the best moments in the whole franchise.
I didn't like Pokemon Heroes that much because the two antagonists were just kinda boring. But the Spell of the Unknown was just amazing. A very relatable story.
To think the OG movies were all better than the one created now, all 4 og movies made it to top 10, also spell of the unknown nd soul dew are still my most favorite

Nostalgia isn't why the 1st Movie is the best to me, it's because of how deep & relatable I find Mewtwo as a character. If you saw the full movie Mewtwo was essentially Shadow the Hedgehog before he even existed. As for Mewtwo being relatable, over the past 8 years I found myself questioning my reason for existence. I felt like I was born into a slave generation destined to suffer because of being born a Millennial, Pokemon the 1st Movie was part of what kept me alive when I was at my lowest point. "life is wonderful, but why?", "This Cannot be my Destiny!" both of those Mewtwo quotes were much like my thoughts in those days.

my favorite film is the power of us. i was able to see the special screening of it and it was great. it being a character driven story was really cool and everyone's achievement's felt earned. my second is movie 19 with my third being movie 12. i really enjoyed the concept of dark mega evolution. really wished that was a focus for the tv series. i'm a sucker for time travelling and seeing the past in movie 12 was pretty cool. usually i would be pissed about how time travel wasn't handled properly as literally nothing changed in the present but i'm able to look past that as it is a kids movie.

Polemon Heroes is my personal favorite. I loved the Venice inspired location. Im glad someone else appreciate this movie as well.

Spell of the Union is such a good movie, I was so young I barely even understood it all the way back then, I probably watched it 5 times, I remember feeling genuinely sad for the little girl and ash, genuine emotion. This one really touched me as a person so much more than the other movies, im glad he put it first because to me it's in a league of it's own.
For me, nothing can beat pokemon ranger and the temple of the sea. I am an emotional person, so pretty much almost the whole movie made me cry. But the end was frustrating... ASH ALWWAAAAAYS TO THE RESCUE OOOOoooooOoooh BIG HEROOOO! WOW PLOT TWIST I NEVER KNEW *HE* WOULD BE THE SEA KING!!! As he said in the video, that part was just dumb.

Easily my favourite, none of the others can really compete. May was my favourite character, Hoenn is/was my favourite region, Manaphy is so adorable, and I always looked up to the Pokemon Rangers more than Trainers. Ash at the end mucks things up but it does so much else right. There are quite a few good ones but that one just hits so right.

Okay but was it because of nostalgia? Because for me it was that fucking Luxray scene. I got aggravated that they had the Ash releasing Butterfree scene like five minutes after seeing a Luxray frozen to death. At that point I still wasn't over it so releasing Butterfree meant nothing to me.

I got Pokemon 3: Spell of the Unown on VHS on a sunny Sunday when I went with my parents to a city that was 80km from my hometown. I was never allowed to buy something so expensive (for an 8-year-old), yet somehow they bought it for me. God, I have watched it at least 20 times. It will always bring to my mind the warm summer wind I felt on that day. What a lovely memory in the bleak adult life...

I remember when I watched the spell of unknown it was my favorite movie when I was a kid in they old days
Pokemon 3 was the first movie I personally owned though I had seen the two before, but just absolutely loved it. Made me think Entei was the sickest legendary. And the moment where Charizard sees Ash in trouble on TV from the Charisific valley being apart for a long time and leaves, just barely saving him while flying is one of the best moments in the whole franchise.
I didn't like Pokemon Heroes that much because the two antagonists were just kinda boring. But the Spell of the Unknown was just amazing. A very relatable story.
