Hi Danielle 👏👏 (lovely name btw)… I just wanted to let you know that this story, and the way you told it, is thee best episode you’ve had in my opinion. It’s so hard to listen to some of these stories; I tend to keep towards the mild ones. The teacher was an idiot, plain n simple, so you had to laugh. But then the buildup to Ashley totally recovering and providing us an inspirational message at the end was so positive and unexpected it blew my mind, so congrats 🥳😃

I am a teacher and it has become scarily obvious that there are two types of people that become teachers, police, doctors etc.

To add on to this because I knew someone from high school (I used to be best friends with her) and she became a teacher. But it again is all for the wrong reasons… this girl is a narcissist and LOVES any kind of attention and where do you get THE most attention? Elementary school. So yes theres two types and there’s a 3rd as well and the 2nd and 3rd type, are not the ones who are there for the right reasons.

When I was in middle school, I had a math teacher just like this. He would have the popular girls (12 Y/O's) sit in his chair, on his lap, on his desk and parade around him and it was so disgusting. He was extremely rude and arrogant towards the rest of us and I always hated him. He would scream at me and embarrass/humiliate me in front of the other students. The last day of class, he told me "goodbye Tamara, I'll miss you the most" and I actually flipped him off and left when the bell rang. Then, I kid you not, as soon as I get home that day, my grandparents yell for me to come in the kitchen and on the News, there was his mugshot and he was being arrested for MULTIPLE accounts of statutory rape. He's still in prison to this day thank God but he most likely won't get out until I'm around 35 and I'm 24 now.

The fact that he married her right after she turned 18 is also a HUGE RED FLAG, but would easily appear as a good thing, like hey this is serious for him.
It only means that now, she can’t look for other options, NOW everything she does he would have a say in it, NOW if he wants a family he can with no guilt demand it even if she’s too young to be a mother.
Being older has its advantages. And when the younger person is literally below 20, they’re more easily manipulated and controlled. And nobody can say shit, cause they’re married.
He probably realised as an adult he needs to have an actual personality to get a woman, which I guess he didn’t. And hence went for a child, and married her before her brain fully developed.

There was apparently enough evidence to insinuate that the relationship started well before her graduation. The worst part is that I wasn't even expecting that from that specific teacher. There was another one I had that gave off all of the signs that he was attracted to his female students 🤢 there was also a teacher that was very obviously flirting with a friend of mine when we were seniors in highschool 🤢 we joked about it so casually, unfortunately. My mom even had a teacher in middle school who couldn't keep eye contact with girls -specifically- because he was too busy looking at their chest🤢 people want to believe it is a rare thing but my experience and observation has stated otherwise.

They get kids to trust them by treating them too much like adults/friends. So unfortunately, what Danielle experienced and what happened in this case are actually far more typical than most people realize. The creepy janitor probably just hates being there and has poor social skills. It's the popular charmers you usually have to look out for.

I was 19 when I started dating my now-husband, who was then 31, and hell, even I agree with you on principle. (His friends were _ruthless_ about the fact that he would dare date someone so much younger.) I will say there is a difference that lies in actively seeking out younger partners who can be manipulated vs just happening to date someone younger. There's an inherent power imbalance with these kinds of age gaps no matter how you look at it, and it's always the responsibility of the older partner to work to restore a balance if they're actually interested in a healthy relationship.

It is unfortunately common and something young people should be taught to be wary of.

Years ago, my cousin was seeing a band teacher. She was a senior in high school. Her parents had no problem with the relationship and actually had him over for dinners, etc. And her mother later tried to justify the relationship and actually stated that they never had sex until her graduation night. So ridiculous. Among other factors, who would tell her mother that, much less have her tell other people?

There was a gym teacher that was rumored to be sleeping with the students in the high school he taught at so what did the school do? They moved him to the elementary school. We also had another teacher that was extremely flirtatious with students, was rumored to have slept with students, would say inappropriate things to female students like that he preferred plus size women because they’re more willing to do certain things and I also remember that he’d always carry midol on him to give to students if they needed it. He ended up being talked to by the police, let go and then went on to marry a former student.

Actually students would joke about the teachers cheating on each other and drama between the teachers😂

I grew up in the 90s and this kind relationship was common. By today's standards it's all off but believe me, it was not seen as grooming. Unless the child was under 16 and the age gap was pronounced, people didn't take much notice. As a former teenager i can confirm that some teenagers are full on. We hope the adults will guard and respect those kids but often they take advantage of the situation. It's sad.

When I was in high school we had SEVERAL teachers in the 1990s who were exactly like this. In my freshman year the Health teacher who was married with a baby and was an outrageous flirt. He got a Senior pregnant which cost him his job, his marriage and kid, and his reputation...surprisingly he married the student (her family had money) and she had the baby. The next was the Female gym teacher who used to get a power trip by forcing us to shower in front of her, if we didn't then she would fail us for the semester and we would have to retake in my case she would not let me leave until she saw me shower and still failed me and threatened my graduation. It wasn't until she was caught trying to do the same to the boys that anything happened. The history teacher liked to look down girls tops, he failed me when I yelled at him in front of the class for it. He tried to take me into another classroom for a discussion but after the gym teacher I wasn't having it. I yelled loud enough to draw a crowd that he was a pervert and to go ahead and fail me. He was forced into retirement when other girls came forward. Last...the Math teacher who was caught masturbating in his car while watching a girls softball game.

    Hi Danielle, hi Daisy 🌼
I remember the story and his behavior was so disgusting because he was the adult. It was so tragic how it almost ended.. I think a lot of times you get a good looking gym teacher and of course you find young girls that are attracted, and the gym teacher will take full advantage of that and they know better. This particular guy made me so sick because he truly is a narcissist. It’s not just Gym teachers. There was a female teacher just a few years ago that took advantage of a 13-year-old boy and his father found text messages that she was sending to her son and discovered they were having sex. The teacher is now in prison and then of course you have, so many cases like that where you have an adult that clearly takes advantage of a student that’s under age and to do something like that you’re mind as an adult truly has to be warped. When I was in eighth grade, we had a science teacher that was quite handsome and the girls in my class had a huge crush on him and you can see how he was enjoying it. he was later fired. I never knew why and I never asked. I’m so happy Ashley made it and Sam should NEVER be let out of prison!!

It was kinda common in my high school and Jr high for teacher / student relationships. In fact our debate teacher married one of his students right after she graduated.
In Jr high our art teacher was very handsome and every girl threw themselves at him. He ended up having long affair with a student and he was forced to resign. There were other cases too. Thankfully no one tried to kill any.

I also had a teacher like this at my high school…. And he got fired for having an inappropriate relationship with a student…
Why does this happen so much?!? Sick.
