Eric what about Moser and Gerald Genta? What about A. Lange?
Happy to see the Bovet shout out -- criminally under-appreciated!
Good to see your videos
If I become a Billionaire I'm buying a Greubel Forsey, absolutely stunning pieces of art, been in love with them since I first saw it! 😍
You don’t really need to be a billionaire to own gf
Nice one Eric, This list is nothing but Net!!
Super video as always!!!! H.Moser?
I was in Dubai earlier this year. One of the shops at Dubai Mall carries Greubel, Bovet, and some other pretty cool watches. I had a half million Bovet Recital on the wrist. Tough to take that puppy off!!
What speakers do you drive with that McIntosh ? Great video as always. And the fifth brand for me is Czapek / Gronefeld
fpj Elegante is such a nice piece. I love it
Love your video, Eric.
Dropping facts as usual.
FP Journe was highly marketed by Watchbox
I would say it a different way, Watchbox had the foresight to see a great watch and stand behind it with $$$. They called the market right early on and benefited as a result. No one put a gun to anyone’s head to buy a Journe, nor need to buy one from them. And a true watch collector understands how incredible a watch Journe produces.
@@michaelkalb2896 Watchbox somehow had pretty good selection of Journes for sale. Don't know for sure but not ridiculous to think that some sort of collaborations were there.
Cool watches, looking at a Cvstos Sealiner for my next watch
You bless everytime. I’d love to get your take on the mrgb5000 g shock
During the last exclusive event organized by Luxury Bazar in Miami, the one where Kevin O'Leary was wearing two AVENTI, one on each hand, with his famous red straps (you spotted him straight away ), Roman was him wearing a PURNELL and was even surprised to find another client of him rocking a PURNELL as well. So yes, it's look like we should ask You and Roman which brand he find more creative and which bring more innovation and complexity (not complications).
From Lubumbashi - DRC - Democratic Republic of Congo
Great to hear your views on smaller independent brands. Would love to see more content from you on this topic. There are lots of interesting brands out there. Laurent Ferrier and Louis Moinet for example produces awsome high quality pieces made for wearing. 👌
Interesting choices. Too out there, too dressy for me (except a few of the Journes). But a nice change of pace video - interesting to see what RUS oligarchs and ME oil sheiks are wearing.
I'm dying for you to review the new gold GMT on jubilee with the black/grey bezel. I'm obsessed with it.
Bovet is rocking.
Eric, what's your take on Gronefeld watches?. I would love to hear your opinion.
FP Journe sold a large share holding to French Fashion House Chanel.
Moritz Grossman has just started up again and is known for hand made heat blued hands and enamel dials.
Very legible.
Parmigiani Fleurier has rebooted itself with a new CEO from AP I think called Guido Terini.
Very complicated watches with classical complications and reasonably priced even full Gold models: Slightly more than Gold Rolex about £55K.
We’re talking MSRP here, not mad Grey Market pricing.
Just released Louis Vuitton watches including Chronograph in precious metals are good too.
im liking Glaschutte and Moser a lot rt now.
Nice amplifier
FP Journe like them 🎉❤.
F.P. Journe has punksteam style dials.
Lange sohne, Ferdinand Berthoud
So many choices. If. I could, I would buy them all and enjoy them as art. But to wear, my choice is always a Rolex, any Rolex. Just me though.
Eric got big
How about Dubois?
Grubel Forsey seems to have run out of real estate to stuff all their things inside, not dissimilar to playing football outside the pitch. I love Bovet, more so because they still have some pieces which are relatively affordable for those who have just ventured into their brand.
What about Nord Zeitmaschine?
Can’t dunk on the Elegante 😂
MB&F
The downside of independent watch brands is the availability reliable service centres.
FP Journe is the epitome of high hotology. The chronometre resonance has no peers!
Kind of true. Armin Strom has a resonance watch
Shocked you didn't include Richard Mille in your top 5. Agree re Greubel Forsey and FPJ, Bovet and Jacob fall in the artwork/jewelery category for me and not a wearable watch...I would include DeBethune in the top 5, would consider owning one if prices ever stabilize but they are propped up by Watchbox so too risky for my taste
Please do not put Bovet and Jacob & co in the same sentence. Bovet is a proper watchmaker and makes some amazing (pure) watches. Jacob & Co makes concept (Bugatti, Godfather) gemstone watches.
@@sudip9652 Eric put them in his top 5! I wouldn’t touch a Jacob
@@sudip9652 I respect Bovet as a haute horology watch brand and saw a lot of their pieces, which are incredible but not for me
@@captain6368 That is fair. I wouldn't touch a Jacob as well. I love Bovet though. I might suggest you to have a look at Harry Winston instead of Jacob. They make better looking watches than Jacob but with a gemsetting pedigree like Jacob. A Lange & Sohne is one of my favorite watch brands.
@@sudip9652 Lange is amazing at or above Patek level in movement finishing, 1815 chronograph and datograph, Lange One and the Zeitwerk all great pieces
While I agree Greubel Forsey makes exceptional watches which are incredibly beautiful, unique and differentiated, the spring auction results are suggesting the brand is loosing significant mindshare of the watch collector community. Values plummet and the brand seems to be getting crushed.
Insanely high retail pricing coupled with the unwearable sizes does not help - they are probably the best finished watches in the industry though. The newer more wearable sports line will save the brand imo.
@@josh.472 Without question insane finishing. Their new focus on lower price points hopefully helps, so long as its not too late if they are already bleeding cash with no support coming in. They are asking for 100% deposits up front. I just can not imagine funding someone’s working capital like that, and not sure what watch collector would.
Talking about independent while still wearing a traditional Rolex Sub
You right but i don't agree with you in everything ,mbf are my number 1 but any way I love you videos
Vacherhon is one of the best brands in the world and you never talk about them
💯
I think MB&F could displace RM with their wacky designs.
Don’t forget about MB&F, H. Moser & Cie, Romain Gauthier, Ferdinand Berthoud, and David Canaux…
Side note: Parmigiani Fleurier is the hottest brand right now!
Rolex is a smaller brand
Weird watches. They look as impressive as complex steam engines on locomotives, which is a compliment. But do they sing to me ? No. I don't feel anything. I'm trying, I just don't. I need the watch to be 50 years old, screaming with history. Some look like Swiss glass souvenir paperweight bubbles when you turn/shake it, you see the snow falling.
Agree. Even if I won Powerball I wouldn’t be interested. But still glad he did this as a chg of pace. Hadn’t heard of Purnell.
Double-check Journe, it’s the real deal, you‘ll love them.
@@fabiankunz7599 it is not the watches that I'm after, it's the memories. What memories of the 1960s would Francois-Paul possibly bring to me ?
…FPJ’s the only one worth mentioning…the rest belong on Ronaldo’s wrist bro…
Everything about you screams "my Asian wife"
Why you didn’t mention Philippe Dufour? You don’t like him?
