Capturing Canada Geese For Leg-banding With An Airboat.

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources leg-bands thousands of geese each year and rely on the use of airboats to capture the geese so they can be fitted with a leg band and then released into the wild. Placing leg bands on Canada geese helps biologists track the geese's migration routes and local movements as well as learn more about their survival and mortality rates each year during the waterfowl hunting season. This video was recorded at Ogden Bay Waterfowl Management Area on the eastern shore of the Great Salt Lake.
