    I did it the hard way with stinky cleaners and a lot of elbow-grease and just as I was beginning to wonder if BBQ was really necessary in my life, I came inside and watched your very common-sense video! I really appreciate the safer cleaning solution and not needing to clean until sparkling again. Thanks a bunch!

    Thanks for posting Dave. Good to note that Weber will replace burner tubes up to 10 years after purchase date, as long as you have registered the grill when you bought it. Great company with solid customer service.

    My grill is really dirty and I just took it apart to clean it. I decided to look on RUclips how to clean a grill because I didn't want to use any chemicals. This is exactly what I was looking for. My husband ordered a couple of parts that were in bad shape. Thanks so much Dave for your guidance. It help me a lot. Love your voice!!!

    Thank you for great video! I'd like to add that if you are purchasing a plastic scraper (so necessary), make sure it is hard, not bendy, plastic. Also, I find disposable vinyl gloves useful. You can buy a big box of them for not much $. And I learned today that orange flames are bad, so don't skip brushing those burners!! Lastly, in case anyone reading this hasn't heard, little bits of those metal scrub brushes can break off onto your cooking grates, be ingested, and cause great harm. After scrubbing with a metal brush, it is a good idea to use a paper towel to brush the grates.

    Thank you Dave
    I had read the cleaning instructions that came with the grill and I was like there has to be something to help me clean this grill that is safe and won't damage it besides just using the metal brushes.
    I had already thought about using vinegar and was tempted to mix it with peroxide as it's a great cleaning agent mixed in equal parts. I used your cleaning mix instead and was surprised to see how really well it worked. It took me 7 hours to clean my grill from top to bottom it had not been deep cleaned since we started using it in 2010. I started complaining to my mother we were going to have a fire if we didn't clean it and then she said well I have the Weber Manual if you want to read it and tackle the job. Jeez that would have helped so many years ago and I would not have waited that long to deep clean it if it were mine. Needless to say my father has been gone from this world since 2007 and I'm divorced so we have no men in our life to help us so it's all up to me to take care of all the Man chores for both of us as my Mom is 74 and is no longer able.

    I followed this video almost word for word and it worked wonderfully. I'd owned a Genesis 3 burner for a few years and never properly deep cleaned it. A few weeks ago, most of the bottom caught fire while I was grilling chicken (it was cajun blackened, so nobody was the wiser :-/ ).
    I removed everything and was shocked to see how much crude was under the burners and grates.
    The steps in this video brought it almost back to new. If I'd cleaned it annually like I was supposed to, it probably would have been good as new. I esp liked the use of a non chemical cleaning solution. I'm not that worried about the chemicals...fire kills everything, but it's a good consideration, esp when the solution in the video worked as well as it did.
    Great video.

    vinegar and baking soda neutralize each other to form sodium acetate. For the greasy internal parts hot water in a sink with a tbs cascade dishwasher soap plus about 2 tbs washing soda (sodium carbonate) which really cuts the grease with a bit of scrubbing.

    Adding dish soap to the vinegar/ baking soda mix can help with stubborn grease. Vinegar and baking soda can take a while to start working...Another good trick is a portable on demand steamer style cleaner like the Wagner Spraytech or handheld steamer and distilled water. Steaming can be quick and safe way to clean and sanitize inside of your grill without using chemicals.

    I bought this as my first propane grill. It's been a fun, learning experience ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I think it's a bit too pricey after looking at other grills, but it wasn't hard to put together and it works really well. I love the side burner option for heating food during a power outage. I have an electric stove and live in the South (Hurricane season), so this was a bonus. I also bought a cover for it and it has protected it nicely (the Char Broil All-Season Grill Cover 3-4 Burner: Large). Every few grill sessions, I take the rack (or grate) and burner covers off and clean them with a non-abrasive scrubby and mild soap. I wipe the excess off of the bottom as well, taking care to avoid the gas and pilot lines.

    Good job I own the same grill 5 urs now. I like to take the shop vac to it about everytime I run thru a tank or 2. I haven't used a flat scraper though might have to try that. The vac usually gets most of it. Definitely important to keep it clean as it breathes better when cleaned out and avoid fires. I build high end outdoor kitchens that we install 3 to 5k grills and cost upwards of 50 to 100k and at home I use a Weber just like yours

    • @daveshouseofbbq
      @daveshouseofbbq  Год назад +1

      I’m not sure if you’re ever going to get all the rust off of them. May I ask, what is your concern about having rust on the flavorizer bars. The food does never touch them, and even if it does, I’m pretty sure rust hose is no threat.

    • @BrianPMiller
      @BrianPMiller 8 месяцев назад

      Before those bars had rust on them they had paint or some protective coating on them to prevent rust, so indeed some oxidation and drippings are perfectly fine. There are more carcinogens produced in the process of grilling food in general than you should be worried about in hot rusty flavor bars.

    Great video Dave. I inherited an E-310, which is slightly older but very much the same grill. Flavor bars are horizontal. I've found some white corrosion on the side trays, which seem to have some form of cast iron? Any ideas for cleaning that?

    • @daveshouseofbbq
      @daveshouseofbbq  4 года назад +1

      Is the the entire side tray or just the end caps? I think they’re painted cast aluminum, at least the are on mine. I’d scrub with a nylon scrub pad and mild detergent. Go slow and start on an inconspicuous spot. You may have to tape them off and repaint them. Thanks for watching
