Thanks for posting these games. As an Atari 2600 enthusiast, I am fascinated with the 7800. I didn’t realize General Computer Corp (known for Ms. Pac-Man) did chip design for the 7800. Would have loved to play Frenzy, Xenophobe and many more of the games on this console.
7800 was honestly an underrated system. It was just delayed because of the game crash. Had they released it sooner Atari would have had quite an edge moving into the Sega/Nintendo era.
The Atari 7800 definitely looked the part. The graphics were far better than most games you'd find on the NES or Master System. The sounds of the 7800 on the other hand... lets just say I've heard nails scratching on old chalk boards that sounded better...
If this thing had come out in place of the Atari 5200 (which was basically a hobbled Atari 400 computer with bad controllers), it might have been a great success. As it was, competing with the NES, it was too little too late.
Under the hood of the 7800 it could run circles around the next the problem was the use of the sound chip from the 2600 and the tramiels were to cheep to add a proper pokey chip for the 7800 they could have made Nintendo's life a little harder because the NES was less powerful than the 7800 that's why you would have flickering on game's because there was to much information for the NES CPU to handle
Yeah this statement isn’t true at all. I had one of these and an NES growing up. Looking back now there are actually versions of these games I would have rather had on 7800.
You can keep your pity. I was one of the kids that got an Atari 7800 for Christmas back in the 80s, instead of the NES. It was no small sacrifice to get this, as my parents (who were teachers) had a big family to take care of and they didn’t have much discretionary income. Over the next couple of years, I was able to get such gems as Ms. PacMan, Rampage, Mario Bros and Food Fight. DOnkey Kong Jr was another nice game, though we usually turned the sound down. But the trade-off with the sound card was backwards compatible with the 2600, and I also had some classics from that system as they were cheap and easy to find. Outdated? Sure. But still fun. I had friends who had an NES but I was the only one with the 7800. We had fun playing both consoles and enjoying the variety. I have no regrets and I’m glad my parents pulled off getting me one. Feel sad for someone else.
In compression with early NES games it's looks not bad
Graphics remainds me old PC games
There are even more games, but with a Pokey (built-in) or any other advanced sound chip, it could have completed nicely with the NES.

You got one of the compilations coming for the Atari Jaguar CD?
Thanks again.

The 7800 is so underrated nowadays and it’s a shame really.

Its funny how the graphics in some of these games are almost on par with Nes but the music is always garbage.
The games sound exactly like Atari 2600 games. And the Atari 2600's sound was actually *awesome* for its time... but that time was a decade earlier.
nice
impressive system for its time, though i wouldn't think about getting one
Eu nunca vi estes jogos. acho que esse game aqui no brasil não foi divulgado o Atari 7800.
Very simphony on the ideal games😁😁😆😅😄🤔😚😙😗😐😥🤔🤗
One of the games you missed was pac man 1980
