Nothing in her testimony had anything to do with the charges. Judge doesn't care about anything but getting a conviction regardless of whether it will be overturned. They just want the conviction so the can use it as a campaign talking point.

What we didn't learn is why such torrid rumors were allowed as testimony in what essentially is supposed to be a business finance crime. Nobody cares...NYC going off the rails to go after a political adversary...that's what we care about.

It's contextual testimony. It's hard to argue that hush money was paid for a sexual encounter if you never establish that the encounter happened. Any extra details in her testimony can be struck from the record with a successful objection from the defense
@@solid_milk Unfortunately hush money is exactly that. HUSH MONEY. There's a wide range of activities from an intimate but unrequited proposition to long lasting affair. Hush money is even paid to keep unscrupulous people from making untrue statements public. Just cheaper to pay them off rather than fight the lies in a public forum.
What was an important case detail was establishing that hush money was paid. Interestingly enough that was a fact neither the prosecution nor the defense opposed. There's also plenty of legal documents from the original agreement to the subsequent violations of the agreement that prove it existed.
So once again, what details did this additional "contextual testimony' prove other than that Stormy Daniels is a liar, was only interested in getting paid and is now interested in not paying for her violation of the original agreement.
If this was an impartial jury, the case would be already over. It's not like Bragg has proven anything other than the original payment was categorized as a legal payment in the business ledger.
I really don't think there was a category that would have prevented this from occurring when all your interested in is "show me the man, I'll show you the crime".
