    This song is a tribute from the band to their fanbase which is named "The One". There is also a English only version of the song and the girls decided to do this because they noticed their western fans during their 2014 world tour were learning Japanese to sing along with Su the lead singer.

  • @Grington300
    @Grington300 4 года назад +30

    Nice reaction. This was the half and half English/Japanese version from the Japanese release of the second album, the international edition got the full English version. Most often if they sing this in shows now the whole of the first half of the song is just Su and piano (this was from the 'unfinished' or acoustic version they also recorded) and the Kami Band come in half way through with the instrumentals to finish the song.
    The girls had noticed how when they toured the world a lot of their foreign fans had been learning Japanese to sing along with them at their shows and they thought they should show some respect and challenged themselves to learn a whole song in English in return. This was the result and it is in effect their love letter to the fans, also known as 'The One' - an all inclusive name taking in the fans, the band, the song writers, musicians, choreographer, sound and lighting technicians and everybody else involved in the BABYMETAL family.
    No this has not (as far as I am aware) ever been used in a movie. Maybe with the positive energy etc it evokes it should become a world anthem right now.
    Funny you should mention Bill & Ted - BABYMETAL sort of share the same mission, to unite the world through their music ... yeah I know, but it is an admirable aspiration to have.

    The size of that crowd!! And those kids have nerves of steel, being swung about in the tiny cage, 50-60 feet high, and they can still perform not losing their smiles.
    The song carried a Disney style feel good factor. Pay attention here I did notice that the all round timing was immaculate, almost too good to be held by people and not computer generated.
    Robett has already said that the whole purpose of the song is a tribute to the enormous fan base. I hope you react to some more Baby Metal, I like them.

      They all have timing devices in their ears and the precision that they operate at is pure professionalism. This is the album track because it's a music video of course. They don't do it in this particular one but you can take a live performance and substitute the album track and it will match up perfectly. They do that a lot in their music videos.

      Actually from interviews we know they actually enjoyed the ride. At least one mentioned she had a huge urge to wave to the crowd but obviously they have the choreography for the song to do.

    • @mr.osclasses5054

      @@autohmae I believe it was Moa who had that urge, but had to perform the choreography. It sounds about right. 15-year-old me would have also enjoyed the hell out of the ride! Almost 40-year-old me doesn't want to feel the pain of hitting the ground just from the top of a ladder, forget 50-75 feet in the air! They also had harnesses on and the metal safety bars in front of them. Those harnesses are built to hold like 400 lb. men if they fall. The girls couldn't weigh more than 250 lbs. combined...although Moa does have some solid muscle mass on her, but still!

    The One can be considered the second movement of a prog metal/rock symphony. One song was created and then evolved into two: Tales of the Destinies and the One.Tales of the Destinies is an homage to Dream Theaters' Dance of Eternity, considered one of the most complex songs, with 108 time signature changes. ToTD one ups DoE with dancing, singing, and overlapping time signature changes. It bleeds straight into the One on the album.

      @@AldoGuerraALDO-METAL It was on a St. Louis radio station that I heard it. I believe it was the Point, but it may have been KSHE (both play metal and alternative metal). It was in 2019, I believe. It is possible that it was simply a DJ's choice song. Some stations, especially AOR formats, have some leeway to play material that isn't part of their usual programming, as long as it has been released as a single and isn't part of a competitor's rotation, or the album is older and no longer releasing singles, so that the songs are allowable under album-oriented formats. I'm not sure if the DJ was actually supposed to be able to play it, but they did!

  • @papa_xan
    @papa_xan 4 года назад +28

    This song was made to honor all of their fans, and has two versions. One is in Japanese, and this one, in English for all their western fans. In Babymetal lore, they and the fans are The One, and it's also the name of their official fan club.
    Babymetal also has a lot of lore that has to do with foxes(Kitsune) and The Fox God(Kitsune Sama). That's why they make the fox sign instead of the devil sign with their hands. So if your hear them say "Kitsunes up" at a concert, you'll see everyone raise their hands with the fox sign. Also, most concerts will have some sort of fox symbolism in it, and some have incredible fox designs and stage setups.
    I would suggest the official music video for Megitsune (female fox) for your next reaction. It's a fan favorite, and one of the rare exceptions where the music video is better than the live performance, just because it's so well mixed and filmed. It's basically a girl-power song that, in no uncertain terms, states that "Maidens...shouldn't be underestimated".

    • @asaftk
      @asaftk 4 года назад +1

      Yeah definitely a good suggestion :) they were very young in this MV like Su was about 15 and Moa and Yui were 13...

    • @saundrawilliams8037
      @saundrawilliams8037 4 года назад

      I wouldn't say its better than the lives (Su's vocals are always better without all the processing they give it in the studio tracks and that crowd interaction makes it at least 60% better! Lol), but the MV does have amazing production and doesn't spoil the breakdown early. I'd say that's about the only thing I dont like about the live performance of Megitsune, they always start with the breakdown.

    Oh btw have you ever heard of Dream Theater? They are a known prog metal band.. The One is the last song of the 2nd album and is a somewhat continues the previous one called Tales of the Destinies its a prog metal song and they got praises from DT. Whenever, we are on your side. Remember, always on your side. Forever!
    Ahhh! So people have already memtioned that this is basically the anthem for everyone and anyone who makes Babymetal possible, from the musicians to the technicians, and of course the fans! I believe Grington 300 300 also said that this was the response to the girls learning that overseas fans were learning the Japanese lyrics to be able to sing along, so Babymetal wanted to put in the effort to learn a fully english song in return! The thing is, The One actually used to be part of a Dream Theater esque song called Tales of the Destinies. Koba-metal had had the writers working on this song for quite some time before deciding (for reasons I can't remember) to split it into the 2 songs Tales of the Destinies and The One. So, I believe they just decided to use this song as the one they'd learn in English rather than making a new song just for that. Either way, its an amazing song and all fans appreciate it even if its not one of their top songs from them! Its definitely in my top 10 though lol!
    This was filmed at the Yokohama Arena at thier 2015 appearance there (one of the final dates for their world tour). It was modeled after Madison Square Garden and has a capacity of ~17,000! This was live footage, but studio audio! This show was also the debut of The One (and even Karate)! Can you imagine!? Not only was this the finale/encore of an almost 2hr show, they came out floating over the audience in a pyramid chandelier thingy performing this song live for the first time!!! I would've loved to have been there!!!
    Gonna recommend my recent fav Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro live at Budokan Black Night, and my new current fav Awadama Fever (grindy music and super cute vocals and choreo)!
    Kitsune up! \m/
