Fun fact, a lot of the band members of Viagra Boys are trained jazz musicians. Check out Aint Nice, for a cleaner, less wailing song (he basically only does that in Sports). Also if you're diving into the world punk I'd highly recommend jumping into IDLES, probably songs like never fight a man with a perm, or Mr Motivator. Great modern british punk band with really tight instrumentation, and really good, driving beats.
This band is more than this song and are one of the best punk bands of the last decade. A bunch of different vibes throughout their discography but this band is really about the bass, sax, and vocals to give them that "edge" that many bands lack and is desperately needed in the genre
I think this song perfectly captures their tone and energy, but I agree they have an impressive range of sound and are rather experimental and underrated as a punk band.
Honestly you need to give their newest album Cave World a full listen. You don’t need to do it on the channel obviously, it’s up to you, but it’s an incredible album. My favorite album of 2022, as well as on a lot of top albums of the year lists
Yeah it was my favorite of that year (and of their discography) too. I bought the vinyl even though I don't even have a record player. Fantastic album!
@@knutt8580 oh that album is so good too. I miss Isaac :(. But honestly, the whole windmill scene is killing it. BCNR, Black MIDI, Squid all came out of the windmill scene, and I love all their stuff. Squid O monolith has been playing nonstop for me the past couple weeks
Fun Fact: Viagra Boys are Swedish. I thought they were form Chicago at first. Another of their songs with a crazy music video is Troglodyte. ruclips.net/video/iW4Gdsnr2Bg/видео.htmlsi=wTVfEQrYwVbDfgzV
These guys are so so good! A lot of overlap with king Gizz fans I’ve found - such a good vibe and so unique. Would recommend aint no thief or research chemicals next
Viagra Boys are freaking fabulous. Funny as, I love their dark humour. Nice thing about them is that they sound the same live as they do in the studio versions. Def worth checking out more from them.
Thanks for checking this one out. I recommended this song because it is a classic of theirs and the mental breakdown is just hilarious. I wouldn't write them off just yet though. Check out: - Baby Criminal: If you just want a total banger that's more like the first part of Sports. - Into the Sun (from Shrimp Sessions 2): You said you didn't like when he started going off key and that it wasn't done in an interesting way. Into the Sun has the same unclean rawness as the part you didn't like, but here it results in a beautiful live rendition. Mostly because of the singer's performance. Maybe this is a bit more of a risky one to recommend, but I think it might just convince you.
Viagra boys - slow learner is a banger. For some Australian underground check out O.R.B - first and last man. The whole album birth is a psycadelic journey, with Sabbath inspired heavy riffs with some gizzard style effects
hell yea Viagra boys are such a fun band i love it when bands have a sense of humor, ALSO unrelated but the elden ring dlc trailer finally released you should check it out if you haven’t already
I do like the debut this comes from, but I vastly prefer the other two albums. Cave World was one of the best albums of 2022! You'd love the video for Troglodyte from that one too, it's fucking excellent! Punks less of a not giving a shit and more a low barrier to entry, if it's simple anyone can play together. But it's a broad spectrum, you've then got bands like Dead Kennedys and Agent Orange who added surf rock flair to their work, you've got cowpunk stuff and the bands mix punk with blues/country/folk stuff, you've got it spinning off into noise rock etc etc. It's not always 3 chord stuff.
I'd suggest The Hives - Bogus Operandi, if you haven't yet. Kinda high energy punkish and the video is probably the best I've seen in a while. Good stuff!!
The unhinged parts are part of what I like about punk. It's an emotional register we all go through in life, so why not have sounds that reflect that. I like a lot of metal too, but sometimes it's too much like studying and can lack a connection to concrete, day-to-day reality (or satire like the viagra boys). If you want really tight, precise punk, there's plenty. A lot of punk bands are musical, but in a more traditional, r n'b inflected way. It tends to be music to move your body to, unlike most metal. The genre pedant in me would like to point out that viagra boys are actually post-punk because of the droning dance grooves and noisiness
I loved your reaction to this song and video. I think it suits the irony and absurdity of the song. Personally I enjoy the energy of this music, the voice cracking and the grime of it - however, the track that turned me onto Viagra Boys is called Worms. It's not like this song at all; much more mellow, but beautifully sad and rather poignant. You'll hear his range as a singer, but also some cool out-of-key noise. Reaction video or not, I highly recommend giving it a listen.
I would agree with the other comments that their most recent release Cave World is really good. Along with modern punk, IDLES is solid. Their song War is pretty intense and would be a good starting point IMO. They also came out with a new album a couple of days ago that goes a bit softer than their earlier albums.
you did Propaghandi recently, they're considered punk rock. I know your complained that the length was too short... maybe check out "The Decline" by the band NOFX, it's an 18 minute epic punk song
That being said you should go for maybe antelope (reflector) reflector is the song; or check out Idles (tangk) the song on that album being dancer. Idles is the newer band but like there’s melody there.
SPORTS! These guys have far more musical depth than you think x and the sax player is fire!
Oskar so hot
Viagra Boys - Research Chemicals - Live at Glastonbury......is a must!
hundo, so incredible

Seeing them live was an experience I will never forget. The sax player is amazing and the whole band was on one that night. Viagra Boys never go limp

The lead singer Sebastian Murphy is actually from California and moved there when he was 17
These guys are so so good! A lot of overlap with king Gizz fans I’ve found - such a good vibe and so unique. Would recommend aint no thief or research chemicals next
Bass player is a baller. Saw them live a couple of times and they were fantastic.

Best band out there at the moment.
Would sell a kidney to see them live!💪🏽💪🏽

Swedish pride right there ❤ You should check out their Audiotree live version of Slow Learner, insane iteration
audiotree "just like you" is the one for me
Viagra boys - slow learner is a banger.
For some Australian underground check out O.R.B - first and last man. The whole album birth is a psycadelic journey, with Sabbath inspired heavy riffs with some gizzard style effects
research chemicals was the first song they ever wrote
Great reaction, thanks.
I envy you for discovering VB. They have SO many bangers. Enjoy the journey
hell yea Viagra boys are such a fun band i love it when bands have a sense of humor, ALSO unrelated but the elden ring dlc trailer finally released you should check it out if you haven’t already
Yeaaaa I have watched it twice already😂

Please check out viagra boys research chemicals live glasboury ....tight bass n drums and a badass live performance
I'd suggest The Hives - Bogus Operandi, if you haven't yet. Kinda high energy punkish and the video is probably the best I've seen in a while. Good stuff!!

te recomiendo escuchar : PIPE EYE, el cook de KGLW
You should check out Parquet Courts. They’re kinda punky. Would recommend Almost Had to start a fight/In and out of patience/Freebird II
you did Propaghandi recently, they're considered punk rock. I know your complained that the length was too short... maybe check out "The Decline" by the band NOFX, it's an 18 minute epic punk song
Obviously 'Punk Rock Loser' should be next
I think you should go in depth of punk music because it is just that: expressive.
That being said you should go for maybe antelope (reflector) reflector is the song; or check out Idles (tangk) the song on that album being dancer. Idles is the newer band but like there’s melody there.
I love these guys!
And this song nails the sports industry.
It sucks!!!
Keep in mind, when you claim to be a metalhead, it tells me you're not musically very sophisticated.
Why?
You know when a RUclipsr has all his gear up on the wall and the keyboard and Marshall in the back. You know he's full of shit
Why? My gear has to go somewhere
