The name put me off these guy's for ages, but after going on a recent deep dive, they're now my new favourite band. If you want to hear more I recommend: Troglodyte, Research Chemicals, Sports & Slow Learner.
That was exactly my experience. Same with Amyl and the Sniffers, with whom Viagra Boys (Sebastian) did a duet with (Amy from the Sniffers) = In Spite of Ourselves. I think my midlife crisis is not buying a fast car, having an affair, or anything like that. It's how much I f*****g love the greasy, grinding vibe of the Viagra Boys. 🦐
@@langwaters9653 100%. As an old fart myself I've been getting excited about new music for the first time in decades. Viagra Boys, Amyl and the Sniffers, King Gizz are all doing what music used to do for me for I became a cynical old fuck.
@@markmckinney4149 Same! and don't forget The Idles and DC Fontaines!
They're an incredibly great live band. Their 2023 Glastonbury set is pretty epic. Another really good one from Shrimp Sessions that's more vocal-focused is "Into The Sun." For studio recordings, "Ain't No Thief," "Troglodyte," and "Ain't Nice" are good starting points.
Have to watch Research Chemicals from Glasto last year. The crowd is going nuts. Its awesome.
Loved them at Glastonbury last year. They're mental live. From Sweden. "Punk Rock Loser" was a big hit for them.
That particular gig on TV is what got me into them. I am now obsessed.
singer moved to sweden when he was 17 so that would explain his great voice :D
I think he was raised in San Diego and left for Sweden at 17.
Apparently, he's fluent in Swedish and pretty much considers Sweden home.
Anyway, I can't wait to see em live at some point since, over the past couple of years, they've become one of my favorite bands.
I had my first introduction to this band a couple of days ago in the best possible environment... live. A very polite Copenhagen festival I went to to see the Raveonettes, the Kills and Jack White. A nice millennial lineup for the over-30s. Everyone was very well behaved. Until this lot came on and it went ape. When they finished, calm returned. I knew NOTHING about them till then. And they blew my f..king head off.
FWIW... my argument as a middle aged man in the comments is that they sound a hell of a lot like Space Ritual era Hawkwind. wind machine, sax, motorik, bass driven.
And LCD SS? You're not wrong. But I've seen LCD live a couple of times. Like them a lot... but they don't even come close to these guys.
Research chemicals great song. Swedish band American singer
Yeah dude they're freaking sick!!!
great band, although for this song half the lyrics are not sung, so suggest checking out the full audio of this - along with every other song they have recorded...
HELL YEAH from CUBADA 🇨🇦
Watch Aint No Thief, sports or research Chemicals live at Lowlands - unless you have already and Ive missed it.
If it’s cool with you I’m just going to listen to the viagra boys and not to some random goofball named Craig. This band is so much better without the commentary.
That's not the proper version
These guys are fuckin amazing especially live, check out them performing research chemicals at Glastonbury 2023
