- A Calgary man who was rescued following an 18-metre - or six-storey - fall off a ledge at Banff’s Bow Falls is recovering “remarkably,” according to his father.
Twenty-three-year-old Jaron Rosso was hiking with his girlfriend on Friday, when he reportedly veered off the trail and got “turned around”.
“He thought he was taking a short cut and ended up in a spot he shouldn’t have been in,” dad Jason Rosso told Global News. “I think his footing gave away and he just slipped.”
Jaron was airlifted from the falls via helicopter long line and eventually transported to hospital in Calgary. Now that his son is on the mend, the elder Rosso is busy tracking down the “heroes” who he said got him there.
Global's Tomasia DaSilva reports.

We need more acts of kindness like this. Wishing this young man a speedy recovery.
Also, blessings to the person or persons who helped him.
"they could have just videotaped it and walked away" a sad but true comment on our times, way too much of this mindset
There are still good, great people!
I hope he'll have a speedy recovery 🙏
I’ve been to the Falls 1000 times that Cliff is scary. That’s a big drop. Lucky he didn’t get sucked into the water also🙏
Bless you. From Toronto
there is still good people in this world
Glad he’s okay. Always stay on the trail, folks! On a side note, I find it interesting that these types of rescues are still free when used, at least here in BC. We all get ambulance bills when one is called. I totally agree that we need these rescue services, but given that many are volunteer run, and the costs for just one air lifting to hospital gets pretty expensive, I think the person receiving the rescue should support the cost for service as well in some way?
Especially if they passed warning signs….
Bless you
there are signs everywhere. his fault.
I wish him a speedy recovery with guidance from the almighty..
