Cassie, I have to tell you that you had me giggling when you were talking to the coos about their hair and asking them what they'd been up to, etc. It is exactly how my daughter and I talk to any and all animals we come across, especially our 95lb malamute/shepherd cross 11yo, spoiled-rotten, adorable pup.
You do have some very talented and loyal subscribers. I am so glad to have found your channel a while ago and it's been a real pleasure getting to know you, Gary and your kiddos.

Never heard of David(the doll) instead of Elf on the Shelf. Course I live in the Northwoods and I'm Catholic. We do have The Advent Angel though. Better than a toy doll moving around the house making kids "behave" so Santa comes and leaves gifts. What people often fail to see is that Santa Claus is another name for St. Nicholas, in the sense of GIVING. As "commercial" as Christmas has become, it still remains a time of gift giving and thinking of others. Advent Angel leaves messages to be kind and think if of your neighbor . We go on the 7 works of Mercy. Clothe, feed, shelter, comfort those who are imprisoned or sick and frail, give drink to the thirsty and bury the dead. So it goes. Still what Jesus asks of of us. Cassie, I'm sorry for Luca being lost. I don't understand why anyone would chastise you all for not neutering him. You all show everyday that you are responsible animal owners and farmers. I pray he is ok and is just wandering as cats tend to do. God bless you all!!! Let's stay positive... he will return!
Really people, Luca is young and you can't neuter until they are at least 6 months old and my vet won't until around 8-9 months old. Luca hopefully will return after a little tom-catting around and they will get him neutered.
I guess a farm cat is different from a pet in many ways I don't understand. I've never lived on a farm so I can't really have an opinion on the cat deal. IMO if you have a "pet" cat letting it outside is asking for trouble. Our house cats that we've owned over the years do not go outside unless they snuck out. And I don't want any preditors to get ahold of my baby or them to get run over.
Agreed! Our barn cat had babies 2 weeks ago under a storage shed. We don't have a male. Mr Luca is just "catting around" the neighborhood. 💙🙏🙏💙

Prayers going up for Luca’s safety and for him to come home. Oh, Cassie, the unspoken worries mamas have every day (the little goat and of course Luca). I’m always so afraid of fire. Our house burned several years ago. It still devastates me at times. Kids, goats, cats, coos, power pole fire, life is great on the Walker farm. Love and light to you all. The wind was crazy that day!! My power went out for a couple of hours and was told 3 power poles were knocked over in my area. I am very thankful for all the line workers out there keeping our electricity on!!

I lost three cats that were fixed to coyotes and they had places to get up high, but they were total outdoors cats and nothing I could do, my favorites too and so sad. There’s always something happening on a farm! Merry Christmas family!

Guys always check all the ANIMALS in spring and fall by doing the Famacha score ( eye lids ) . alpacas too. Prayers that a special package shows up
As a kid growing up we lived out in the country, not farmers we had a male kitty that use to take off for a few weeks then always came home, I don't know why we didn't get him fixed but we never did this was back in the 60's.
Praise God it didn't catch fire and noone was hurt!

Your peacock is beautiful. My friend had a few peacocks 🦚 one time 1 of them was pecking at my son's black car. He saw his reflection and thought he had more competition.

Always windy in Indiana. Day before yesterday, 50 mile gusts
If Luca is chasing ladies, he'll probably be home in a couple of weeks. That does not mean he'll be in the best of shape when he returns. But if he's badly injured, it could be a few months before he returns home. This is a warning in advance, just in case so you'll be prepared for what you see.
I've dealt with injured tomcats. I thought one stray was actually dead under a chair on the porch until I picked him up to "dispose" of him. It took about a month, but he was right back to tomcating when healed. We were finally able to get him fixed.
If Luca comes home injured, I suggest holding off until he's healed to have him fixed. You don't want to add to the health issues he's fighting (just like the injured tomcat). When he returns (if uninjured or after treatment for injuries), I suggest keeping him in the barn with a litter box until the "fix" day arrives.
We called our Herefords with "sic calf" since our cousins called the Ayrshires with "si boss" with a short i and a drawn out boss. We had neighboring pastures. I am glad I am not the only one that carries on conversations with the animals! I enjoy the David searches, never heard of that in my long ago youth.
here in WV, my grandpa used to call the cows by doing the Whooo oook, SSccowww... he would start hollerin' it as he drove down the road past the herd...by the time his truck circled round to the barn, they were all there waiting on him, lol.
That brings alot of memories back my dad call ours by bossy or betsy. Me I just call come al and blew the car or truck horn. If they were to far back blew the horn. 2 long one short for cattle and 4 short for horses. 1 long for all. Miss them old days.

I have been watching David since the beginning and wondering where he would turn up next the kids are so cute and excited and Maddie just loves reading the little Christmas cards that David leaves you may love their little presents I just think it's so cute I'm 57 years old and never even heard of this

Make sure there was no scrap wire or anything left behind for the animals to eat or get hurt on. I have had workers working around places I have lived already and they leave crap laying instead of cleaning it up.
Please realize some of us live in places they do it at 2 pounds. I hope no one was nasty, a lot of us in rescue want all Animals fixed. Have a very merry Christmas. We all love and respect you.

In NW AR we had 3 poles snap and trap a fire truck and crew under the wires while driving down a busy street during these crazy winds! Thankfully no one got hurt!
Peacocks love fruit. I would get old bananas from the grocery store for them. Also they need high protein that's probably why the dog food was suggested. I bought trout food. It is smaller pellets and has a high protein level.

Once the Highlands have gotten use to everyone they are so friendly and docial. Those transformer cans have oil in them one spark and kaboom and now yah got a out of contol fire.
Oh my I wish the lady and husband would not stand so close. We had this happen in Ga when I lived there. The pole spit fire and the people standing below at a ball game and about 7 people ended up in a burn unit. One was a high schooler who was in critical condition for months. Please people stay away from poles like this when they fall. WooHoo on the 25,000. You have a lovely channel.

My mom and her side came from Poteau Oklahoma. My grate grate grandparents the Shrums and Pates own a lot of land with catfish ponds and more. I had never seen it but my siblings did and they had a blast. I would have loved to raise my two boys there. Boys need the space and responsibilities to grow. God bless you and your family and praise God you are safe from that tornado that hit Kentucky. I think I would want a storm shelter for our family and a big one for our animals. I just picture the wiZard of Oz with Auntie Emm and the cow in the tornado poor cows 🐮 mow. I think I would build an underground home which are really cool, temperature constant and they don’t blow away in tornadoes 🌪 I wonder if there is a way to creat a sensor the Ozone for tornados before they develop and give enough time to take over.

I've worked with different shelters and vets that use different methods to determine when to neuter a cat. Some go by weight and some go by age. It can be very confusing. The animal shelter will usually take them for neutering at 3 months but a vet will not. I suggest, if you have a vet, go by what they say.
