Just tried this hack using a jump start pack Worked great.. I connected the Samsung 19 inch DVD/TV to my leisure battery with solar charger showing 13.9v ..it blew the TV.. Too many volts and Amps I guess..ah well it was a cheap TV so no real loss.. We live and learn. 😊👌
It should not have blown the TV, even if the. Solar controller is chucking out 14.60 volts for a AGM set up, I did use my TV in my transit for a week away and that has 260w panel with a 220amp AGM battery with a victron mppt.
It even said cn32 on the plus which is indicating channel 32 which will correspond to a group of transistors that controls the switching of that plug. If you look at the other plugs they also have CN and then a number which again its indicating a channel.
Can't see what you doing from that distance mate, did you use thick wires? I used tiny wires because that upgrade is so tinty and they burnt, the t.v is still okay, just wondering if i should try again with thicker wires or did i do something wrong

UPDATE: polarities were switched, my thin wires started to smoke n burn so i disconnected quick and was about to give up then i figured i hooked it up incorrectly and checked the board again and saw that i misunderstood the labeling and so i correctly wired and boom, working like magic! the thin wires aren't a problem, i hooked it up straight to a truck battery hooked up to the mppt solar system charging at 14v, not a problem, i shuda done a vid too to show the doubters, Many thanks mate!
I think from memory I used .75 mm wire just because it has a dvd and I wanted to add a fire stick and usb to record footage from the tv. So glad you got it working 👍👍👍👍
Hi there I am living homeless no electricity have a car battery needs advice how to convert my TV to run on battery tried watching on RUclips but no result hopefully you can advise me
Is it possible to leave the 240v connection in place but add the 12 v connection to it as in your video so you can use choose which one you use depending if you're on a 240v hook up or not?
Sorry mate, I've absolutely no idea, I just took it apart and had a look, most tvs with a DVD player I would of thought , I'm still using this one and has been perfect.
@@ProjectCamper I think now by looking around its the smaller tv's makes sence I s'pose.. I was aking cuz I have a shed/cave Im building and I want full 12 volt made by my own wind turbine and battery set up should be fun..
I fitted a 7.5amp fuse on the fuse box, when in my Ford Transit, Talbot express and now in the sprinter, it’s been 200% reliable, I will be completely honest I don’t know the answer, maybe I could amp clamp the positive but when I had the tv apart , I used 1mm cable power to the 12v plug then 1.5mm to the breaker board. It’s been one of the best mods and I didn’t expect it to last because of being a house TV in a van that I take off road most weekends. Sorry I know it’s not probably much help, just being honest.
Just tried this using a 40amp fuse on a 12v battery tv standby light comes power on the tv light turns blue but no screen ? Works fine on 240v any ideas

Just noticed this episode, god knows how I missed it but clever find bud
The tv is still going strong as I’ve just put it in the Sprinter this weekend 👍
@@ProjectCamper I've got the perfect TV for it so might give it a go myself, cheers bud 🙏
Is it just a standard 12v cigarette lighter connector on it?

put the light on mate
Alot of stuff is actually 12v inside once its transformed from AC to DC

Hi.. What was the volt and Amps output on that power pack.. Have you tried it in the van.. Thanks
It's a snap on battery pack with a Odyssey battery fitted, not sure but works fine in my Talbot express with a 110amp halfords leisure battery

Get a small £30 pure sine wave 250-300watt inverter to power it from a battery, most tvs run around 90 to 175 watts
Is it possible to leave the 240v connection in place but add the 12 v connection to it as in your video so you can use choose which one you use depending if you're on a 240v hook up or not?
Yes I left it the 240v side as normal so it still could be used at home or on EHU 👍👍
What model tv is this
Going to look at my tv and see if I can convert mine to 12v
Give it a go Paul, ive also just converted my android tv box to run 5volt usb, so if i plug that in the tv, i have a mini pc,all from 12v.
@@ProjectCamper just seen this on ash Pollard vlog I've just ordered a fire stick and the 12v cable
have you measured what amps/ watts it draws? would be interesting to know
Not yet, but i plan to put in my lorry as that has a solar control unit that can tell me.
How many tv's have this upgrade available is there a list?

You've got 12 Volts going into the TV but how many Amps?

Marc Hilton hi there, have you a 12v power supply on your tv circuit board
@@ProjectCamper yes 12.65v its 40" Bush led tv
Soon as I saw the red standby light on then I pressed the on button and turned to blue I thought great it works oh no screen coming on 😅
@@marchilton7721 the backlight on larger tv's usually run at 36v from the transformer,You'll need an inverter for 12v to work it
Brilliant 👍
Nice work 👍🏻
Cheers mate. 👍

Poor old Mel blow his TV up doing this on his video channel after watching some one doing there’s.
Yeah I saw his video, I thought with his much experience and subscribers he would of been better prepared 🤣🤣🤣
