It seems my calling this drama a "Netflix Original" has ruffled some feathers. I did so because it has the 'N series' marker on its profile and is listed in its original shows section. I can understand why people are upset, because Netflix didnt contributed to production costs. As someone who doesn't research the behind the scenes of shows often (I'm a regular viewer giving my opinions with the hope of connecting with other kdrama fans) I can see myself making this mistake in the future. So, going forward I will simply let you guys know where you can watch it. Let's avoid misleading branding altogether 💕
Attorney Woo was my first kdrama. I was blown away by how fabulous it is. It has a sweetness to it that I just love. I give it a 10. After that, I watched Crash Landing, which I may never stop watching. It's by far the best thing I've ever seen.
Recently I was at a restaurant and sat at a table next a couple and what looked to be an adult child and a teenage daughter. I just remember that the son at some point started making noises every minute or so...funny thing was because I saw this kdrama my reaction was more what ? than an internal monologue of well that just someone being who they are....a completely different reaction from what my reaction would likely have been before this show...I am grateful for shows like this, they help me to be a better person.
This broke the ice for me to watch K dramas and I 1000% love it. I agreed to your reaction but unfortunately to me I didn’t see flaws to this Drama, that’s just me. The consistency of every scene is unbelievable. Even the camera is not focus to a character but they’re still acting. I just hoped that you’d post your reaction to every episodes.
I really enjoyed this drama and found myself grinning like a goof much of the time. ^^ I will admit, however, to getting a little impatient with the cases b/c I just wanted to get back to the main characters and their stories. Which is too bad because I think the cases were actually pretty interesting issues and discussions! But I just cared about the main character's ongoing arcs a bit more. haha... Great review! I definitely agree that there is a really good consistency throughout the series- which can be sometimes be lacking in Kdramas.
Agreed! Although I definitely enjoyed every episode and the commentary provided by the cases the character plots didnt get nearly enough screentime. I remember being slightly disappointed when an episode would end and we only got 1 or 2 scenes, only a few minutes really, with our main couple! ...but I guess it's better to leaves us wanting more of a great thing
I think you feel more invested in the cases when it has a connection to the character arcs, some of them despite being interesting cases didn't have that connection so it was less engaging for the audience.
@@lilypond5158 absolutely! I also think it would have been better to introduce the finale cases a bit earlier, because they are 2 parts. We could have the hacking case midseason that way her brother is introduced a bit earlier. Then the civil case where the brother testifies would have been given more room to breath in the finale. As it is right now, the brother comes out of nowhere a little bit for me and the time frames btw the 2 cases is way too fast! Makes it seem like legal processes happen within the blink of an eye and that's definitely not the case (pun intended)
This is the first I have watched of your reviews. You did a fair job overall, but I must take exception to the characterization of the male lead in the romance. I find myself really resonating with his extended simple smile as a token of deep and amazing affection. I am a guy, so it would mean that tome.. VERY realistic!
I actually think the coworkers aren't that well written. Neither of them do much in the cases. Young woo always comes up with the solution. And I get young woo is the genius here, but if they're completely useless, it makes you wonder why they're needed. Spoiler alert The male coworker tried to betray young woo. I never really liked how it was resolved. The coworker basically failed and gave up. There was no confrontation between him and young woo and he never apologized. He just abruptly had a change of heart. Other than that, I think young woo and the guy boss has the best writing.
I agree with you, the male lead, although his character is written to be charming and even a little bit too good to be true, is the weakest link when it comes to acting. I think partly it’s because the other actors especially Park Eunbin, comparison wise, is too good. She’s so good, that she have chemistry with all her leading men, even make them “looks good”.
I agree with ur opinion about the main leading male actor's performance. Besides it, i also think his character was too simlple like one or two dimentional. I hope to see more complex side of his character in next season. Thanks for ur lovely insightful review, Marie!
Huh did I miss something there is not wrong with his performance or smile the chemistry worked for me and the acting I never doubt him he was convincing that he loved adored and cherish her isn’t that why he went viral for his expressions in South Korea people have been praising his diction and expressions I don’t understand u and her why are you saying that
Now that you mention it @guitar11diary his character was a little too good to be true and maybe that's where my slight dissatisfaction comes from. I love ✨morally grey✨ charaters haha
@@MarieMaurerKdramaReview his character was like the good guy character I agree it can be boring but kang tae oh he is really charming and good actor maybe that’s why I enjoyed he also got the nickname green flag male lead of the year 😂 I agree not everyone vibes with that I just disagree with you comments on his smile or his expressions point of view I thought he nailed it he wasn’t given much of story but I believed he loved her and his smiles were genuine to me maybe I found his character refreshing goes I watched back chaeboel with sad back story or grey characters b4 watching this drama so I found him breath of fresh air
I give it an A++ . in your scale a 5! If I wanted to quibble about anything I would say the way it all was wrapped up a bit too neatly in the last episode or last two episodes. PARK EUN BIN'S portrayal of Woo Young Woo is one of those performances by an actor that is just unforgettable. She brings the character to life and inhabits the character so brilliantly. The whole cast is brilliant, her Hanbada Law firm co-workers as they gradually become her staunch allies is another facet that is wonderfully done. I have viewed around 10 K-DRAMAS now and as many Korean films. This is surely my favorite series. I think the Korean cultural aspect is intrinsic to the story. I have heard rumors that there my be an AMERICAN remake.. I THINK THIS WOULD BE A TERRIBLE IDEA. It would surely ruin it with attempts to be politically correct at all times. The character of Woo Young Woo is an innocent in many ways, she is a genius but socially in many ways like a young child . Remember not only has she never had a sexual relationship at the age of 27 she gets HER FIRST KISS in the series..she is however as "Hairy Boss" once says to her..."you are not like they say, you are very BRAVE"..Just a brilliant show!
American remakes are so hit or miss. ill wait and see who becomes attached to the project before making a judgment, like 'The Good Doctor' is an American remake of the original kdrama which (also featuring an autistic lead fun fact) and its done very well
Love Atty. Woo! I found kdramas about 6 months ago (YES!!) and am so pleased to find your reviews, Marie - thank you sooooo much!! 1. I don't see much - any? - mention of Crash Landing on You which is my fav so far. I've watched about 15 kdramas so far with no intention of going back to hollywood! (I'm American) 2. My only big, meaningful criticism of kdramas is the absolute bombardment of background music. It's unbearable - in more recent kdramas, they've started the overwhelming trend toward music almost all the time, even *during* dialogue. I want to hear dialogue at least a bit, so I watch kdramas with my ears plugged most of the time. I'm trying to find great older kdramas since the use of music is more judicious. (My opinion only - wonder if anyone agrees...?)

I’m sort of binging it now. It’s kinda difficult because while I’m enjoying each episode, they just seem so long. It’s like 3/4 of a whole movie each time. Also this is not something I’d watch normally, but i randomly saw a Instagram reel where a woman was explaining the woo to the young to the woo thing. At the time i had no idea what she was talking about. I think there might have been a hashtag with the name of the show so i was able to Google it afterwards, but i had no intention of watching it. This was my first Kdrama. My mouth is open. So impressed and at the same time culturally shocked. So beautiful. I’m sure everyone else is asking this and too afraid to just ask. So I will. 1) would a gorgeous hot young man put aside above average gorgeous popular girls for a average appearing girl with huge challenges? I hope so, but in reality??? 😔. 2) Who at that age waits for sex? Is this a kdrama fantasy world? Is it not acceptable to put in kdrama and why there is this false narrative accepted? Sweet and nice but not realistic? Sex is norm and usual in America. Yes too much. But it can’t be that different. I don’t get it.
One answer is that kdramas are censored. But I assure you sex is in korean movies if that's what your looking for :) and other dramas can be steamy it depends
First of all it is fiction. It's not real. So don't judge it by what you think should be real or American. What he sees in her is someone innocent and charming and incredibly smart. Women are throwing themselves at him all the time but she stands out to him. So why can't he fall in love with her? Who says so. As for sex, she's autistic and focused only on the law and obsessed with whales. She's not outgoing or enticing to most men. And she is innocent in many ways. Is it not possible for someone like this to exist and still not have sex? What you will appreciate more and more if you watch more kdramas is how they leave sex for the most part out of it. They focus more on building slow burn romances. Characters falling in love. Not falling into bed with each other. Do yourself a favor and watch Crash Landing On You. Is that a realistic show when it comes to sex? No. Not close. But it is so satisfying in every way possible.
I'm fine with that. It's a story, not a documentary. Not every 20something is obsessed with sex and unwilling to wait for the right person and right moment. It was believable to me and so sweet really..
